That is (not really) surprisingly not a thing you can actually do with money in most countries as there are usually laws against that.
You are welcome, Metzen. I hope you won't fuck up my underground expansion idea.

Yeah, ridiculous art sales like this are frequently either money laundering or tax dodges. Occasionally it is just people with so much money that $120k is literally worthless to them.

Still, I see an opportunity for capitalism here. I am volunteering to tape Bananas to a Wall for only $80,000 each!

Lol my political view have nothing to do with the level of stupidity on this "artwork". If they're laundering money, good on them for figuring out a creative solution I guess?

But if someone actually bought it for 'art', that's just stupid... Sure you can do whatever you want with it, but throwing it away on crap like this is beyond wasteful

Outside of those of you coming in here to flex your big brains about art, if you are interested in the economics of the art world, I highly recommend The 12 Million Dollar Shark. It’s written from the point of view of an economist wanting to learn exactly why these things cost as much as they do.

And yes, it can be silly.

There’s a big reason the main buyers of art currently are Chinese businesses and Russian oligarchs.

This was stupid the banana is stupid high art is stupid, but that said the guy should face serious charges and jail along with a fine to recoup whatever silly cost for the banana tapped to the wall.

Keep in mind I don't feel bad for the victims Galleries do have insurance, but just anything else in life you break it you bought it.

Yes, it was already the second banana (before it was eaten). The buyer bought 'the idea', and a fresh banana every time it rots. Or gets eaten.

You haven't watched interior semiotics? Anything seems to be able to be considered art performance now. xD

So yeah only 12% of millionaires inherited 10% or more of their money. (10% means inheriting 101 thousand or more and then becoming millionaires).
A million dollars isn't as much as it used to be. If you're on a decent salary and save/invest then you can probably get to a million eventually. I'd be interested to see if it goes up or down from 12% if you increase it to say $10 million, $20 million etc.

"Who would spend this much money on a banana?"

Exclusive look at the buyer, and he seems to have no regrets.

Yeah like ppl from Heritage Foundation (and Trump) which inherited $320 in 1999, and estates which value grew with the market making him a billionaire even if anything he did by himself where all utter failures.

So basically... very very very few people inherited millions. So few that it makes no sense to even mention them in discussions

Yes it *was* a banana, but then someone made art with it. Doesn't matter that it's ridiculous, the man still broke something worth 120k
