To start resolving, people need to be aware that there's a problem. Considering politicians are voted into office, that people are made aware of the problem is key, they then can vote politicians into office that actually want to bring forward a solution. Every movement needs someone/some group to follow or gain traction.

I can't speak to India's efforts, but China's is mostly bullshit. They are notorious for announcing big things and even pretending that they will do them, but actually don't. This doesn't go for just environmental issues either. It's a fundamental part of the government and honestly the society in general. Fake it then attack anyone who proves otherwise.

Whatever they've claimed to accomplish you might as well go ahead and pretend it's a fraction. Figures, stat reports, images, videos... just assume it's doctored or staged.

China's emissions went up another 4% in the first half of the year, despite saying they were going to be cutting it. On top of that they are building a whole pile more coal fired power generators, which is just going to make it worse. They already produce almost one third of the world's total emissions and the rate they are going it won't be long until they hit half of it, especially if the west continue to makes cuts in theirs.

The CCP really doesn't care about pollution - I wouldn't be surprised if they are counting on the west to cripple themselves chasing emission reduction targets while they continue to power ahead and achieve the dominance they desire.
