What Trump did left democrats with no options, they could not ignore what he did. They did their job, there is no reason send it over to Moscow Mitch to create a shit show for Trump. Welcome to politics. This impeachment procedure was never about being fair from either side but about who has the most asses in the senate or house of representatives. You want a fair trial then you go to a court and you dont use a BS political tool. The left wingers here think that impeachment is about being righteous. All have to do with the Republicans wanting to push an acquittal through the senate as fast as possible, with no interest in a fair trial.

The house impeaching but sitting on it for a while denies the GOP the ability to do that, while having to contend with Trump being one of only 3 presidents in US history to be impeached in the meanwhile.
