Nationalist sentiments are anti-capitalist sentiments.
Capitalism was introduced and created as an alternative and competitor to mercantilist economics, which was the standard economic policy of its era. The primary hallmark of mercantilism was privately owned companies in nationalist-protected markets, competing with other nations with similar nationalist protections of their own economies.
The drive to bring back nationalism is an attempt to abandon capitalism, and return to the era or mercantilism.
If you're wondering where socialism comes into this; socialism emerged because capitalist theory was intended to bring about a strongly supported working class, who held all the societal power. And it utterly failed to accomplish that goal, because Adam Smith didn't really understand people all that well. It's a failed system, that does not accomplish what it set out to do. Socialism emerged as an attempt to salvage Adam Smith's vision, by restructuring the mechanics of that economy to bring about the kind of end results Adam Smith had intended.
Mercantilist thinking is the real enemy, here. Capitalism and socialism are bosom buddies, with similar desired outcomes. Nationalist mercantilism is the system the global economy is being shifted back towards, and that's not a system anyone should be lauding.
And it looks like the Trump/GOP Tax Break for the Rich will have even more devastating consequences for the U.S. economy going forward. Turns out what little taxes the rich and corporate entities were going to pay with the new legislation were written out of existence during Agency Rule Writing.
Thanks for fucking us again Trump! You're the bigliest bestest.
Welp, the Trumpkins won't like that because they love to pretend it was a huge success even though every independent analysis deemed it a failure since most of the benefits went to the rich and corporations and that said groups did not reinvest the money and instead just rewarded themselves.

Who would have guessed a bill written at the literal final hour, with notes scribbled in the margins throughout the bill, giving no time for anyone to actually read the damn thing would have holes a fleet of semi trucks could drive through.Thanks in part to the chaotic manner in which the bill was rushed through Congress — a situation that gave the Treasury Department extra latitude to interpret a law that was, by all accounts, sloppily written — the corporate lobbying campaign was a resounding success.
Trump pushing the Ukraine Election Interference conspiracy theory because Putin told him.
Source is a Senior White House official. At what point do Trumpkins admit they are no longer a part of reality?
This is joking (or accurate commentary - take your pick) about a public figure (and does anyone think Thwart would censor Trump for his puerile insults?) not flaming; it would appear that Thwart has, much like his idol (or puppet of his paymaster - there's no practical difference whether he's a cultist or Russian agent, either directly or at some remove, the end result is identical) realized that since he hasn't been held accountable for his abuses (of the United States Presidency, or mod position, respectively) he is free to abuse it as much as he wants (the collective behavior of US Republicans as a political party is a near-perfect reflection of abusive behavior, just at societal scale) and there is no solution short of the removal of the affected individual from their position. The question of the relevant individual's ability or accuracy in carrying out related portions of their duties is irrelevant; their abuse alone is the issue at hand, and it is one that will, if left unchecked, poison the entire system in which they participate - those who enable them, either directly (by aiding and abetting their activities) or passively (by declining to take actions they are ethically obligated to take) are complicit, and will share in the eventual results (as will everyone who does not or cannot flee the affected system). In this way, Thwart's abuses here at MMO-Champ reflect the processes happening in United States on a much larger scale: either the cancer is cleansed by the body itself in as clean a manner as possible, or the system slowly dies as the cancer triumphs, moving (in historical terms) swiftly into brittleness (readily shattered, and not readily reconstructable), and thence into either fucked (from which is can be painfully restored) or comprehensively fucked (restoration failed or is no longer viable - so long and thanks for all the fish, it was nice while it lasted).
(I'd give better odds on the US right now - at least some aspects of authority holders there have demonstrated ability and willingness to push back against "the Republican Party of the United States" (to paraphrase the old saw about the Holy Roman Empire, it's not Republican, not a party, and doesn't belong to the US)).
"In today’s America, conservatives who actually want to conserve are as rare as liberals who actually want to liberate. The once-significant language of an earlier era has had the meaning sucked right out of it, the better to serve as camouflage for a kleptocratic feeding frenzy in which both establishment parties participate with equal abandon" (Taking a break from the criminal, incompetent liars at the NSA, to bring you the above political observation, from The Archdruid Report.)

@Thwart you're a joke of a mod.
come at me
@Thwart
Why are you infracting posts which content is aimed at Trump directly?
I don't discuss moderation because I have nothing but the utmost respect for the immense amount of personal time and effort our moderators invest in these boards just so we can have an enjoyable environment to freely talk about all our different views on numerous subjects. I fully understand it's a very hard job so even the very best of them are going to trip up sometimes.
This is to you Thwart! May your troubles be less, your blessings be more, and nothing but happiness come through your door.
the american embassy in Iraq had been attacked, with 1 death confirmed so far.
wonder how many republican led investigations there will be for this?
https://apple.news/AQxyNBnZqRECQvIFDiFZ6lABAGHDAD — Protesters broke into the heavily guarded compound of the United States Embassy in Baghdad on Tuesday and lit fires inside to express their anger over American airstrikes that killed 24 members of an Iranian-backed militia over the weekend.
The men did not enter the main embassy buildings and later withdrew from the compound, joining thousands of protesters and militia fighters outside who chanted “Death to America,” threw rocks, covered the walls with graffiti and demanded that the United States withdraw its forces from Iraq.
The situation remained combustible, with protesters vowing to camp outside the compound indefinitely. Their ability to storm the most heavily guarded zone in Baghdad suggested that they had received at least tacit permission from Iraqi security officials sympathetic to their demands.
The American airstrikes on Sunday have resulted in the most serious political crisis in years for the United States in Iraq, stoking anti-Americanism and handing an advantage to Iran in its competition for influence in the country.
Yo, @Thwart maybe you should look at what your other mods are posting before being triggered?
Making fun of Trump's tiny dick is well within the bounds of the rules. If you don't want to see Dear Leader insulted, then get off the forums.
