the internet got huge in the 1990s.
cell phones got huge in the 2000s. smartphones came out around 2008.
smartphones got huge in the 2010s.
the 2020s will be about solar power. solar power should be cheaper than fossil fuels well before 2030 which will change how we consume power.
the 2030s will be about full blown sci-fi robots like in the movies. We're at very primitive stages right now like self driving car tech getting off the ground.
the 2040s will be about curing aging and maybe even reversing aging.
TO FIX WOW:1. smaller server sizes & server-only LFG awarding satchels, so elite players help others. 2. "helper builds" with loom powers - talent trees so elite players cast buffs on low level players XP gain, HP/mana, regen, damage, etc. 3. "helper ilvl" scoring how much you help others. 4. observer games like in SC to watch/chat (like twitch but with MORE DETAILS & inside the wow UI) 5. guild leagues to compete with rival guilds for progression (with observer mode).6. jackpot world mobs.
feh!
The Decade in Which Everything Was Great But Felt Terrible
If I had to pick the story that best captured the economy of the 2010s, it might be the tale of CamperForce: a group of elderly nomads, living in vans and RVs, spending their twilight years temping at Amazon fulfillment centers.
Or maybe the most representative story is that of the former graduate student who ended up as a warehouse janitor. Or of the thousands of people who have gone online to beg for money to help them stay afloat through a life-threatening illness.
These kinds of stories felt most real and urgent and indelible to me this past decade, a decade without a single month of recession, when the United States grew to its wealthiest point ever—and when the middle class shrank, longevity fell, and it became clear that a whole generation was falling behind. The central economic dynamic of the 2010s was that no matter how well the market was doing, no matter how long the expansion lasted, no matter how much the economy grew, families still struggled. It was a decade that strained America’s idea of what economic growth could do, and should do, because it did so little for so many.
There was a queasy, strained, contradictory, tragicomic feeling to financial life in this decade. Blame it on “late capitalism.” Occupy activists and lefty publications like Jacobin recently popularized the term, borrowed from academia. Marxists used it to denote the globalized, industrialized economies of the postwar period. Literary critics like Fredric Jameson used it to describe postmodernism in economic form, the collapse of high and low, the commodification of everything. It is now a catchall lament for an economy that delivered a record-smashing bull market for the wealthy and the second lost decade in a row for working families.
This is everything i was going to write with a few changes. The growth model of the current world order will never ever focus on a rising tide nor can it with how much overall speculation is involved, think of unicorns like WeWork and the like whom eat up so much cash with nothing to show excluding founders becoming wealthy overnight. The decoupling of government funded works programs and an overall assault on Min. Wage policies ( In the US mind you ) which also constricts higher tier workers ( it gives you less bargaining power for those whom bitch about it ) and the increasing Libertarian sect in the Republican party to overtake its mantle.
Also do not forget that we are still in the middle east YAY that baby is gonna graduate high school soon baby!
Yeah it was pretty shit for me. But let us remember, it can always get worse!
What have the years of your life taught you to be?
"When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up." - C.S. Lewis
2010-2019 was great for me personally. Probably not for the world at large, but life is too short to get worked up over that all the time.
Why would you even let "snowflakes" and "complain culture" bother you when it's something you can easily choose to ignore? Don't let internet reality become your reality.
Steady technical improvements trending right alongside baffling idiocy. My idealistic hopes that the Internet Age would also be a second age of enlightenment have been pretty much dashed by now and I fill the void with cat videos. I don't know how long the technological progression train will keep rolling, but the age of reason isn't coming.
Did it suck for me personally? Yes and no.
Good stuff:
- New job.
- Home owner.
- Found girl, got married.
- Exiting tech like streaming, VR, good smartphones and "limitless", globally reaching internet.
- Better software for both professional and private use.
- Traveled more than ever with my wife.
- More inclusive attitudes regarding sexuality, race and gender.
- Separation of church and state in my country.
Bad stuff:
- My mother died.
- Terror attacks, the rise of ISIS and the wars.
- Right-wing nationalists using the hate of the ignorant masses to gain power, like Trump.
- Global warming and pollution getting worse, instead of any sign of reversal.
- Mainstream music reached a new low, almost exclusively banal bullshit.
So both good and bad overall.
Mother pus bucket!
Companies pander because they want to make more money. They've introduced loot boxes, early access, DLCs, season passes, in-game stores and a bunch of other ways to charge more money for less content. You are paying much more, for much less, and the only reason your games feel influences by any group is because the companies think it will earn them more money.
"Your" capitalists made your gaming experience worse.
imagine if 911 had happened in 2011 instead of 2001 and everyone in the towers had smartphones and recorded tons of video from inside.

Was pretty good. A lot of mile stones for me. Graduated High School, college and now I have a job and a loving girlfriend. If you let an entire decade be soured because of politics or you can't enjoy your consoomer media because of ess jay dubyas that's on you.
