Do you find the statement true.
If they're not with us, they are against us?
I would apply this saying to political discourse and I would say yes it is true.

Its an idiotic statement just because some one isn’t with you doesn’t mean you can’t win them over to your point of view but if you treat them like an enemy that won’t be possible.
That statement describes the mindset of a bully perfectly.
No that's called tribalism. "If someone is in a different tribe then they must be evil and out to get you."
That statement is root of everything that's wrong with the world today. If you think that way, you are part of the problem, no matter which "side" you're on. Us vs Them tribalism is cancer.
Implying that the world is black and white. Sounds like solid reasoning to me.
I'd say that for most things, there's a set of people for, a set of people against, and a large set of people that are indifferent enough to not care or act.
That being said, there are certain things offensive enough that being indifferent is objectionable enough on its own.
If I'm the only one out of a group of twenty people that steps up to stop a two year old from being beaten with a baseball bat, I'm going to have some serious words with the cowards that stood around and watched.
Obligatory, only a Sith deals in absolutes.
