    Alterac Valley Adjustments

    Alterac Valley Adjustments

Our goal is to make surgical adjustments that address some of the more prominent pain points and unfortunate behaviors, without cracking open the substance of the battleground.

    As Soon As Possible

We’re working on a hotfix that will go live soon that will make honorless targets unlootable. This is intended to further discourage camping the starting caves as an efficient activity.

    With Scheduled Weekly Maintenance

Several concurrent adjustments should positively affect the initial state of each instance of Alterac Valley:
    • Alterac Valley will now allow parties of up to 5 players to queue together. When a party queues together, they will be placed into the same battleground.
    • There will no longer be a number in the name of the battleground in the “Join Battle” screen.
    • We’re fixing a setting that allowed the battleground to start with as few as 20 players on a team.

Soon After the Weekly Honor and Raid Reset

In WoW Classic (and original WoW), players who get fewer than 15 kills aren’t given any rank progress, and are given a standing amongst other players who had fewer than 15 kills. This standing is ignored and causes confusion, so it will no longer be displayed.

Finally, we’re updating the calculation of diminishing returns to match patch 1.12 of original WoW. When WoW Classic first launched the Honor System, we made the decision to decrease Honor by 25% per repeated kill. With world PvP being the only option for obtaining Honor at that time, this made sense. Now, PvP has primarly moved to battlegrounds where repetitious engagements can happen with much greater frequency. Starting next week, Honor will now decrease by 10% per repeated kill in both battlegrounds and world PvP.

What a surprise. This is just another in a list of broken promises. No wonder Classic is having a slow death, they keep lying to us. U wouldn't be surprised to see BWL changed as well. Once nerds discover that the raid has been stealth buffed it will be "We made the decision to increase damage and HP of this raid to try and recreate the original experience". In other words, we forgot how shit our raids were so we are artificially inflating the difficulty to try and get people to stay longer.

First they fuck with AV. Now they're going to break BWL.

Love the alliance kids complaining about this. They already released a version of AV that's got headhunting, korrak and other shit removed so your "#nochanges" is transparent.

Funny part is their only changing things that are being abused and the only people complaining are the ones abusing AV.

Did you intentionally misunderstand his comment?

It doesn't matter, it's too late anyway. People are already R12 from PvEing. There's no prestige in ranking and it's over.

Oh, and it doesn't even fix anything. Private servers tried this too. Guess what people did? Get 4-5 guys and queued at the same time. It's even better in Classic where you can go cross realm.

You will have some groups go WSG but it will be business as always otherwise for people who don't have groups.

I think it's a good change, it's just that #nochanges has become a meme at this point.

There really is no way where "no changes" makes sense in 2019/2020. Most people just want the feeling that Wow Classic is the same as Vanilla, even if some of the numbers, algos, etc are different. If they can't tell, its truly Vanilla that they are playing again.

Good Lord, but there's a ton of Alliance tears in this thread!

This breaks AV premades which never existed in vanilla. AV premades existing is a change.

If you unironically respond to these changes with #nOcHaNgEs, you are...I want to use a word, but lets just say, dumb.

bUt SlIpPerY sLOpE iS nOt rEaL!!!11111. oh look another change since you retarded idiots ask for them. in about 2 years classic = bfa in terms of mechanics and fixes

all of these are good ideas and very finely tuned.

    - allowing groups of 5 to queue allows for playing with friend / guild mates
    - removing #ed AV instances prevents premade spam
    - reducing diminishing returns makes WSG relevant again

Discord didn't exist in Classic, and premade groups never had this level of coordination. Eliminating the ability to spam premades balances out the AV experience, making it much more like Vanilla was back in the day.

Glad they took their time with this. Carefully considered tuning, but it will help keep AV relevant moving forward.

As an Alliance player I'm happy I no longer have the choice of a) guaranteed loss in a PUG, or b) find a group via discord to serially queue within for mindless wins.
