The meeting that announced the firing of 800 blizz employee. Corporate activision.

Yeah corportate activision is shite. For those that dont know what and how it happens or why our games are going down hill: it is because of excel pushing assholes that are not gamers and decide in a robotic way to make more money for shareholders by removing a headcount of non strategic people. Because hey, who gives a fuck about QA? Who gives a shit about communication and fostering a community of fans dedicated to your products?

No this idiot abviously, greed galore (not the youtuber presenting the activision call).

Stop living in a dream world.. Making games because you are passionate about making games or want to make a product just for the sake of giving people a wonderful game to play and enjoy, is long gone.

It is all about how to make the most money from the least effort nowdays.

The free market is bad, except for all the other kinds of economic systems that have been tried.

What is happening here is that inexorable economic trends are against you. The kind of game you want isn't where the market wants to go. In that situation the market causes firms and their managers to reallocate resources to get better returns. People who aren't you are better satisfied by that reallocation.

Now, if you were complaining about the free market because it had decided you are worth so little that you should starve to death, you'd have a better point. But you're complaining because it's not giving you the kind of e-silliness that you want to waste your time on. Get over yourself, mkay?

They cut 11 out of 337 QA positions. 3.2%:

It's extremely unlikely that any of the QA cut were WoW QA, they're also hiring more WoW QA right now:

Also, only around 200 of those employees worked for Blizzard. Why do so many people have this insatiable need to spread Fake News?

I don't believe that's even close to true.

reading the title i dont even have to continue to know you have zero knowledge
ACTIVISION BLIZZARD fired 800 people, not BLIZZARD, thats a huge difference, activision blizzard covers blizz, king, activision publishing (and many studios that belong under activision publishing) and perhaps even others, im not that familiar with their structure
fraction of those people worked at blizzard, and most of the people fired from blizzard were tied to HotS espeort and stuff like that...

as for QA, couple days ago in different thread someone posted list, whole 11 people of wow QA (out of 337!) were fired...

next time learn a bit about issue before making this kind of useless shitty threads... or even better, dont post anyhing

And most of those 200 was people in Europe which has nothing to do with creating or testing the games, so mostly administrative like sales and distribution got hit which is kinda logical since most people by digital now.

And at the time of the firing they had like 100+ listings for diffrent development spots for most of the games up on their site.

if you deem your company does not need specific people, why is firing them suddenly not allowed?
they felt they no longer needed these people and fired them, replacing them with developers.

800 was all of actvision blizzard, only about just below 200 being actual blizzard.
but back in 2012 blizzard alone fired 600 people, about 40 of them being devs.

where was the outrage then just before mop came out?

What? Teens back then would be nearing or past 30 now. That's a pretty gross assumption.

How do you reach the number 11?

There is a section within that document that you've linked, which explicitly stated the laid off people worked at QA and it most certainly doesn't list just 11 people.

You can see the selected/not selected columns right?

And you can read point 5 which says its a list of people who were and were not selected for termination?

This is a list of ALL blizzard personal. only those with a 1 in the selected column were fired, as per point 5.

A quick check shows that indeed 11 'test' positions were selected for termination.
It ignores such insignificant forces as time, entropy, and death

I just want the crash that drives these companies out of business to happen. The sooner the better. Indie games are getting pretty damn good these days.

Then imagine how many poor people will be unemployed and we will not be able to play the game that we either love or love to complain about.

All the people listed under the QA section.
    I think it's more than 11 people.

And if that's not what you're referring to, then at least have the courtesy to explain your source better than just to drop a link with 20+ pages.
