What will it take for you to resub?

I am subbed exclusively for Classic, but I would download and play Retail again if these conditions are met:

1. Get rid of endless, no-lifer grinding mechanics such as AP, azerite, essences. Get rid for good.
2. Massive talent overhaul. The current talent system is awful (the only negative thing I remember about MoP honestly), it doesn't feel engaging and most of those talents are useless.
3. Retail becoming alt-friendly again. Maybe by introducing account-wide reputation and campaign progress.
4. The re-introduction of PvE tier sets and master loot.
5. The re-introduction of PvP real gear, stats and vendors.
6. Massive un-pruning. As a shaman main, I really hate to see my precious totems gone, except for 2-3 situational totems. I'd love to have 20-25 abilities you can use ocassionally, like in the good old times.

If these conditions are never met, I won't touch retail again, not even in expansion launches.

AR DKs are a Shadowlands feature, just like the Allied Races themselves were a BFA feature. If you get Shadowlands you get the AR DKs. The Pre-order just gives you the bonus of early access to this feature.

If you are not planning on playing in Shadowlands then you simply have no right to access this feature, because it is not part of the current expansion.

Every last time people come with these nonsensical complaints about the pre-order bonusses. It was the same before Legion with the early access to DHs, it was the same in BFA with Allied Races. This game is a paid service, the next expansion is a paid update, people get rewards for pre-ordering because by paying early they show a certain amount of trust in the game and dev team. If you do not have this trust then you simply do not qualify for the reward.

The fact that someone that claims to play for almost two decades does not understand these mechanics is baffling to me.

A new race doesnt change anything. You just put some armor on top of it and ignore. Races dont wffect your gameplay. Race doesnt effect world quests, raids, GCD, enjoyment of PVP content etc. The gameplay and its systems are all the same. It's just some different pixel shapes and that's it. If you dont like wow now, a new race wont change that.

That's actually a really good point, and I'm glad you brought it up. WoW has a real short attention span. Blizzard is so afraid of players getting left behind that they invalidate everything every patch. There's no longevity. No long-term goals. It's just...do the treadmill until the next patch when everything you've just done ceases to matter.

It might seem weird to express that, given my opinions on having more account-wide accomplishments and features. But it's super important that Blizzard needs to find a better way to balance these things than simply making everything outside of the current patch pointless. Essences are a good exampe of how to do this wrong. Sure, there's lots of work to be done to unlock everything, but a lot of it is treadmill, and a lot of it is NOT account-wide friendly.

Whatever they do in Shadowlands, I think it's best to wait and see rather than being an early adopter.

But that only works if your only goal is to get equip not to do the content. If i am just a collector. Then yes. But then it would be easier to just hang one addon back. Do Legion when BfA is current.
If you want to raid for example what does it give you to just join the last patch? That is like intrinsic and extrinsic motivation. I raid because i want to raid. I want to get gear because it does what i do easier. But i do not raid because i want to get better gear.

Also: Back in BC where you had to do exactly this. First raid first. You had huuuuge problems getting people for your group in the end because many did not have the gear or the attunments. So you raided BT and once ore twice a week older raids for the newcomers. Everyone was annoyed as hell.

2. Bringing back a long term goal from day 1 that pays off at the end of the whole xpak would make me resub
3. Bringing the game back to higher popularity and getting my friends to play again would make me resub

- No more high end PvE content available for casuals

For me, WoW currently feels like a turn based game, completely predictable and not fun rotations of 1, 2, 3, 4...etc. The reason why I stayed subbed throughout legion was three things: mage tower, epic weapons/skins, class gameplay being fast/exciting/fun.

As things currently are, no amount of nostalgia or time invested in the game will make me resub or buy any more expansions. However, if the GCD changes are reverted and MACRO'ING is changed instead, I would resub in a heartbeat.

If the problem is truly macroing multiple abilities into one burst button, then simply change THAT instead of changing one of the most important parts of the game and what makes or breaks it for many players.

The game is dead for me I have tried since Cata Ended to get into the game and as soon as Pandaland came out I started to get increasingly turned off of the game. For me to come back it would take one of 2 things. The Sylvanas breaks off and creates a 3rd faction that is the "Evil" faction that is comprised of Undead of all races a rotting Tauren or Draeni would be amazing. Or allowing players to choose which iteration of their class they want to play for instance I want to play the best iteration of each class/ spec. Let me Timewalk permanently to Wrath on my DK so I can stand to play him again and have Blood DPS in all its glory, I want Firelands Enhance Shammy with SP being a good stat., I want to play Disc Priest in Early MOP where you DPS and passively healed like a boss, I want Wrath Resto Druid where you were god mode with all your Hots, I want Early MOP Brewmaster tank it was great, I want Wrath Combat Rogue where you had fast OH weapons I made a rogue in Wrath because they could wield axes, I loved Cata Ret Paladin I really liked the builder/ spender style of combat. Basically I want to pick and choose where each class and spec was the best to play. The first is more likely obviously than my second wish, but hey a guy can dream. Otherwise if the ever released the game on PS4/5 or consoles in general Id play again for sure. Since I prefer to console game to PC.

The fact that they locked any of the Alliance Races or Flying behind Bullshit Rep grinds is a slap in the face of anyone let alone those of us that have been playing the same game for 15 years...

What I want to re-sub in WoW:
A) No more bullshit gear. That means no titanforge, no corruption, no casino gear! I want gear items to mean something. I dont even remember the names of Legion items because everything was based on roulette. I did like the gear where you upgrade with currency you could "farm", but every other system was/is complete BS.
B) Alt-friendliness. Im not kidding when I say that even WoD was a more alt-friendly expansion compared to bfa. The players that make alts do it for extra raid positions, gold farming, etc. Not because we want to see the same exact storyline 5 times...
C) Raiding>everything. Mythic+ is not high-end pve. At least it shouldnt be. Mythic+ should be a "fun activity", nothing else.

A drastic change in the story and focus on Alliance closure and satisfactory retaliation shown in game and witnessed through zones in the old world. Basically using phasing when completed as not to repeat the mistakes of Cata. And second and almost as important making every spec viable. I currently only really care about my rogue and while I enjoy mythics I can't stand combat, alternatively on the same route of making upgrades flow better go back to the legion method of making dual wield items drop as a pair bad luck on 1 weapon drop can gimp us for far too long.

If they removed all the useless grinding for character progression and allied races. That would make me come back.

In previous expansions grinding was part of the game but it was optional. Netherwing in BC, Sons of Hodir in wrath, Dailies in MoP they were all optional and I have skipped a lot of it but people who liked it did it. But since Legion grinding has become part of character progression which is even worse in BfA. Faction reps should not be tied to core game play.

Change faction rep back to being about mount, transmog and pets.

Classes to feel fun. That is the entire reason I haven't played BfA. I can excuse a lot of things, like WoD having nothing really to do outside of Raiding, because I still had fun in Raiding and leveling alts. But, if the core gameplay loop (in WoW's case that's dungeons/raids for me) sucks, then I can't enjoy the rest.

Currently in BFA, I like the dungeons. I like the raids I've done and I like what I've seen of the ones I haven't done. But, it's all sadly brought down by just.. Not caring about the class I'm playing. I got into the alpha and tried out all my normal mains and just.. Didn't care (I made sure to give as much feedback as I could to hopefully change it, but nothing I suggested was changed outside of some game breaking bugs). So when I picked it up November of 2018 I decided to try a new class and it was.. Also boring.
