I think there would be some retribution issues that come into firing someone. Retribution firing is an actionable event, even in the national security arena. Moreover, he's not high enough to be an "at-will" employee of the President, such as Yangovich.

Oh, there is plenty to keep the shitshow thread going. Even without House investigations.

I figured we have plenty to keep the Shitshow going, I was talking about where the stories belong more since the impeachment stuff technically isn't going.

But the House SHOULD keep going as they still have more coming out and because the Senate is full of lazy bums who refuse to do their job and have no issues selling out the nation and constitution for their own gain. They NEED to keep going and drag it all out.

Some stuff to think about. And all the stuff here you can actually read on and prove yourself if you don't believe me.

1) Trump has effectively dismantled the Federal Election Commission. It takes 4 leaders before they can legally do anything. He refused nominate people to do that. So they are legally crippled and unable to do anything.

2) McConnell has blocked over 400 bills including bills to protect election security.

3) Trump tried to get both Russia and Ukraine to interfere with our elections. The Mueller Report details multiple attempts with Russia while Trumps own legal defense even admitted in the Senate "Trial".

4) With the recent Senate stuff, they didn't say he was innocent. They acquitted him. Trumps own legal team ADMITTED he did it as did multiple Republican Senators who still acquitted him anyways.

The White House legal defense was repeat of Nixon's "If the president does it, it isn't illegal". They argued that a President can commit extortion and even ask foreign nations to interfere in our elections if he think his presidency is within the nations best interest. This is what I heard them argue with my own ears.

The White House argued that defense and the Senate actually acquitted on it. If they had given a Censure then they would have put a mark of disapproval of it but they didn't.

That means they green lit the presidents actions for him to do again along with all future presidents. The Senate just opened Pandora's Box with they actually accepted that defense.

So we have the president free to interfere a 3rd time and even get foreign nations to help him do it.

5) Within 48 hours of the ruling, William Barr changed the rules so it bars the FBI from investigating 2020 candidates without his approval.

So, we have the FEC unable to do anything, the Senate just consented to Trump's cheating and violations of the US Constitution, and the FBI is already blocked from looking into it.

Just what level of cheating do you think they will try with that much protection?

To say this is major is an understatement. This very well could be the US transiting to Russian styles of "Democracy" in our voting practices.

To say things are going to get bad in the coming months is an understatement.

Yeah, who is going to do anything about it though? I would fully expect personnel actions against every current member of the government that testified in the house. It is wrong, blatantly illegal, and nobody can stop it. The GOP isn't going to do anything, and the democrats have no stomach to impeach him again for the exact same result.

To a point I get what you're getting at, but at this point I think it might be better off for the Democrats to focus on the election. Even as much as I want these people slammed for their utter disregard for our country's institutions and shitting all over the rule of law, investigations into them at this juncture without a more iron clad case would just feed into the 'political revenge!' narrative the right has been going on without a shred of self-awareness or irony.

I honestly don't know. I'm expecting Trump to 'just so happen' to win by 'narrow margins' in the same swing states he took last election and win in spite of another popular vote deficit. What he'll do in office beyond that is anyone's guess. I think he'll do his best to uproot and dismantle as much as he can to make sure it's loyal to 'him' and cement his legacy moving forward, and I think he'll either be stupid enough to try and weasel his way into a third term or - in his infinite wisdom - attempt to back Kushner or Jr into the next presidential spot and split Republican votes in 2024.
