I've seen some pretty ridiculous, funny, ignorant, and conspiratorial claims, but this one takes the cake. Anyone who voted Democrat through 2014 and jumped on the Trump boat were people who were late to the southern strategy from the 1970's. Trump still only has hard support from 30% of voters, which is coincidentally the percentage of people who will also always vote Republican no matter how incompetent and corrupt they are.

The 2016 election numbers wise followed the polls, and people seem to forget that most prediction analysts (that are different from polls, prediction analysts take polling data and predict the outcome) were predicting a 50-50 to a 70-30 in terms of Hillary Trump. The Trumpkins took a Young Turks prediction analyst that said Hillary had a 99% chance of winning and acted as if that was every poll ever. Trump barely won 2016 by the skin of his teeth, and he is consistently polling over 10 points lower than he was the 10 days leading up to election day in 2016. Trump is in trouble for 2020 unless his Russian friends give him some help. But hey, the Trump cult can keep deluding themselves that he's going to win for sure. It'll be all the sweeter when the floor falls out from under them.

I think it was Nate Silver who make the predictions based on the polls that on avg showed Clinton with a major lead.
But timing is everything, after the Hollywood access tape Trump was honestly down and at that point it might have been 99%. But H. Clinton eventually lost because she was just a bad candidate who was never able to close the deal even though Trump has gone from scandal A to scandal B back to back.
