Big lore events you wish to experience in Caverns of Time?

Do you have some key historical periods/events (with moral dillema) you would want to see in WoW?

    n. Your event
    • Event description
    • Gameplay you would like
    • Moral Dilemma (if possible)

    Here's mine:

    1. Betrayal and Destruction of Alterac
    • This happened in the Second War where the Alliance sieges Alterac and slaughters the Orgrimm's Horde as well as the Alterac military that was stationed and bolstering inside.
    • I'd like the player/s to assist Uther Lightbringer, Thoras Trollbane and Daelin Proudmoore in dealing with the tratiors and escorting out the citizens (give them names maybe, like young Blackthorn, Menag, Benedict, Otto, Singer, Darbel, Falconcrest, etc.), while preventing the Infinite Dragonflight from assassinating Uther, and Aiden Perenolde.
    • Why do this? Alterac's passage was the Horde's safe way to asssault Lordaeron and the safest way to reach Caer Darrow and Quel'thalas. Destroying Alterac also prevents the Horde from taking it's resources and allows the Alliance to secure Alterac Valley.

    2. The Tomb of Sargeras
    • This happened in the Second War where Orgrimm sends in the Blackrock Clan, the Bonechewer Clan, and the Black Tooth Grin Clan to intercept Gul'dan and his fellow traitors
    • I'd like the player/s to lead a strikeforce of Grunts, Raiders, Ogre Warriors to raid the Stormreavers and Twilight's Hammers' Grunts, Death Knights, Ogre Magi, and Warlocks then enter the Tomb of Sargeras and talk to the dying Ur'luk Cloudkiller about Gul'dan's quest for power. The players slaughter the Stormreaver Necrolytes and Warlocks then the Pit Lords and Doom Guards guarding Gul'dan's corpse. The player takes his skull then on the way back to the boat back to Lordaeron, several Infinite Dragons will try to intercept the player/s and personally attack them.

    3. Ilidan and the Eye of Sargeras (Warcraft 3 Frozen Throne Night Elf: The Ruins of Dalaran + The Brothers Stormrage)
    • This happened after the Third War where Illidan uses the Eye of Sargeras to destroy the Frozen Throne.
    • I'd like the player/s to head to the Violet Hold, rescue Magroth the Defender guarded by the Infinite Dragonflight, and then assist Maiev Shadowsong, Malfurion Stormrage, and Sira Moonwarden in destroying the Naga Summoners and the Eye of Sargeras. Then after that, the player/s will go the Purgation Isle where they will assist Illidan Stormrage and Malfurion Stormrage in defeating the combined forces of the Scourge and the Infinite Dragonflight present there and the Death Knight Baron Isiden Perenolde to rescue Tyrande Whisperwind.
    • Why do this? Although destroying the Frozen Throne will finally end the Scourge, it should be noted that without a controller of the damned, the Scourge wil go rampant and will attack anything they see. The destruction would also destroy Icecrown entirely, possibly flooding the whole Northrend and driving the Taunka, Tuskarr, Frostborn and the Drakkari Trolls to extinction. This arcane abuse will also enrage Malygos and will cause him to declare war on the mages much sooner. And finally, with the Icecrown caverns destroyed, the Faceless Ones will emerge out and Yogg'Sarron will immediately invade Azeroth.

    4. Escape from the Dungeons of Dalaran (Warcaft 3 Frozen Throne Human Blood Elf: The Dungeons of Dalaran + The Crossing)
    • This happened after the Third War where Garithos had Kael'thas and the Blood Elves jailed for execution.
    • I'd like the player/s to head to the Violet Hold, defeat Human Clerics, Archers and Knights, before freeing Kael'thas. Then the players assist Kael and Lady Vashj in defeating more of those human forces, as well as Gnome Assassins, Dwarven Riflemen, and High Elf sellout priests before freeing Kael's lieutenants: Gathios, Veras Darkshadow, Zerevor, Malande, and then other blood elves Keleseth, Vorenthal, Valanar, Rommath, Kayn Sunfury, and Lana'thel. Then everyone rushes outside, fighting through Infinite Dragonflights towards Kel'thuzad's Portal. The player/s build towers and Naga spawning pools Warfront style to fight off waves of human/gnome/dwarf attackers attempting to bomb the portal, as well as Dalaran Experiments and Avatars of Teron Gorefiend, Medivh, Kel'thuzad, and Blackhand the Destroyer, with the final wave led by Jailor Kassan before the non-player/s enter the portal.
    • Why do this? The Blood Elves played a pivotal role in defeating Kil'jaeden in Sunwell Isle, and they prevented the Broken Draenei from going extinct from the Fel Orcs.

    5. Siege of Theramore (Warcraft 3 Frozen Throne Orc: A Blaze of Glory)
    • This happened after the Third War where Daelin Proudmoore declared an unprovoked war on Thrall's Horde.
    • I'd like the player/s to head to Tidefury Cove and destroy it, then build an Orcish Warfront, and build a Beastiary that trains Wyvern Riders and Bat Riders to attack the Infinite Dragonflight and then destroy the surrounding Navy. Then the player assists Rexxar, Chen Stormstout, Rokhan, Vol'jin, Varok Saurfang, Nazgrel, and Cairne Bloodhoof in dealing with the Kul Tiran forces. The players must defeat Chief of Chaplains, Chief Petty Officer Baron James Ashvane, and Captain Thornby before finally confronting Daelin Proudmoore.
    • Why do this? Daelin's unprovoked attack will spark perhaps a Fourth War where the Alliance and Horde will fight each other tooth and nail. And without an existing greater threat to put the Alliance and Horde to truce, one of the two sides will suffer more casualties more than defeating Proudmoore. Also, without Thrall to defend the elements, and the combined forces of the Alliance and Horde, Azeroth will not stand a chance against the Scourge and the Legion.

I'd like to see yours in the comments.

Personally i always found the best, or at least most intriguing CoT instances ot be the ones where the Infinite Dragonflight is attempting to stop some atrocity like the culling of Stratholme or Medivh summoning hte orcs, and then having to make sure said events happen. Fitting instances for this would be:

Burning of Stormwind: Having to make sure the Stormwind defences are improperly defended, or otherwise not reinforced, to allow the Alliance to be formed.

Scourge of Silvermoon: Helping Arthas lay siege to Silvermoon, ending with killing Anasterian.

Galakrond: Having ot make sure Galakrond is properly allowed to be made into a monster so the Aspects can be formed.

And possibly in a future expansion. Burning of Teldrassil: Where you have to help Sylvanas burn down Teldrassil to ensure her evil deeds are noticed in time.
The world revamp dream will never die!

i would LOVE it, if we get a "Burning of Teldrassil" COT dungeon, where you have to make sure that the events occur as they did.
watching nelfs making sure their homeland and people get burned to a crisp would be hillarious

I mean... Burning of Teldrassil dungeon would just be the Horde side of the pre-patch, just saying.
The Void. A force of infinite hunger. Its whispers have broken the will of dragons... and lured even the titans' own children into madness. Sages and scholars fear the Void. But we understand a truth they do not. That the Void is a power to be harnessed... to be bent by a will strong enough to command it. The Void has shaped us... changed us. But you will become its master. Wield the shadows as a weapon to save our world... and defend the Alliance!

War of the Shifting Sands is my top one, although i think they'll have to change how some gruesome events transpire.

The Broxigar even would be neat as well

Story : Night of the dragon. The player help Rhonin and Krasus to stop Sinestra and reveal the dark secrets of the first twillight dragon. This time the infinite flight wants to stop Sinestra from her experiments and remove the twillight dragons from the timeline making the hour of twillight impossible.

gameplay : More or less having to stealth through the dungeon , avoiding as many pulls as possible, while a bar shows at which moment Sinestra will find out about the intruders. The moment she finds out she will start buffing random mobs and give boss fights extra abilitys. The fight vary from gathering informations to the end fight where the player needs to support sinestras creation in killing her .

Morel : Not stopping the crime against nature which the twillight flight is, not warning Krasus of his fate bringing infinite pain to Alextrastza in the future

Definitely would've loved to see CoT: Siege of Theramore. Honestly, it would've been the perfect addition to CoT for BFA... Reminind players just exactly who (and what) Daelin Proudmoore was, and what Jaina did (or rather, didnt).

    But alas.

    Also, as a dwarf enthousiast...

War of the Three Hammers - Invasion of Grim Batol
    • Grim Batol before it fell to ruin, assisting Khardros Wildhammer in fighting to, and defeating Modgud who is wielding Xal'latath and is bringing the shadows of Grim Batol to life.
    • Moral Dilemma: This actually comes after Modgud is defeated, since the players have a chance to claim Xal'latath at an earlier point in time... Not so much a moral dilemma as it's a challenge to ignore her whispers. Could be a kind of encounter all of its own.

War of the Three Hammers - Summoning of Ragnaros
    • The Burning Steppes / Searing Gorge areas before they were quite so burning and searing, seeing how those areas looked like before they were scorched flat by Ragnaros's arrival into Azeroth. Assisting Madoran Bronzebeard in fighting back the Dark Iron armies from Dun Morogh, culminating into Ragnaros's rebirth. Can't defeat Ragnaros in the dungeon, the encounter with him would involve sealing him down into the Molten Core while helping the Bronzebeard armies survive.
    • Moral Dilemma: If Ragnaros wasn't summoned to Azeroth and his powers diminished by the time he got sent back to Firelands, he would've been far more powerful during the invasion of Hyjal? Maybe? Not sure.
    Looking marvelous in velvet.

the Silvermoon and Galakrond in particular would certainly fit the next expansion and a possible Dragon themed expansion where we go to the Dragon Isles. as for the other two I don't know..... I mean the entire point of Murozond creating the Infinite Dragonflight was to prevent his own death, which was unsuccessful as we killed him anyway. the last time we saw them was at Garrosh's trial where presumably they were following Kairoz's orders rather than completing their now pointless mission of preventing their Master's death. I think we have probably seen the last of them because I don't see how they can make a meaningful return. Like if they come back to mess with time..... why?

Siege of Stormwind would be pretty rough to do for Alliance. Assist Garona in slaying King Llane? Help Blackhand and Doomhammer lay waste to the city? Slaughter the city's valiant defenders? Not easy, but perhaps necessary for the formation of both the Alliance and Horde, safeguarding the future as we know it.

Also around that time - we could accompany Anduin Lothar and Khadgar in their quest to kill Medhiv, although on second thought, we may have battled through Kaharazan one too many times already.

Other tragic events we could make sure happen are the fall of Shattrath against the Horde, the razing of Karabor, or the Fall of Highreach against Kargath and the Shattered Hand. Maybe Ner'zhul's shattering of Draenor as well, although how we're supposed to witness it up close and all the way through and live to tell the tale I'm not sure.

Another interesting moment in history would be the battle at Blackrock Mountain, ensuring the death of Anduin Lothar and the defeat and capture of Doomhammer.

While not BIG lore events, parts of Beyond the Dark Portal would also be nice (to ensure that Ner'zhul gets to take a portal straight to Kil'Jaeden and become the Lich King):

Fighting with Khadgar and Gruul against Deathwing to get the artifact.
Hold HFC to allow Ner'zhul to run away. (this may be a bit boring, but could be very similar to HOR in ICC)

It is also not available anymore.
Besides, the Horde pre-patch focused more on you the champion, whereas a CoT dungeon would probably focus more on being close to Sylvanas.

That being said, i put it last because it would either need to happen in the very enxt expansion as part of a larger Sylvanas reveal storyline, or quite a few expansions in the future, to put enough distance between the events.

It would be a literal copy paste of the content. Already the pre-patch event had you work very closely with Sylvanas. Hardly anything would change.

Also, well, if it's supposed to be part of a larger Sylvanas reveal storyline, then I'm afraid it will never happen.

It is however one of the defining moments of Azeroth, which is what should be considered for CoT dungeons.

I will definitely concede it is unlikely though. But it could ahve been an interesting idea.

Warfronts, Siege of Undercity, such glorious events shouldn't be locked in BFA, let us experience them again in Shadowlands, 2 Raid Tiers for FREE!

The Battle of Blackrock Mountain is one I feel could be done well as a Caverns of Time raid, with the Infinite Dragonflight trying to either worsen the losses on both sides to ensure the Alliance and Horde are too crippled to meaningfully impact the Third War (allowing the Legion to succeed, which would cause the timeline to fail), or to grant the Horde victory, which would allow the Horde to march on Lordaeron, which would also cause the timeline to fail.

Speaking of failed timelines, I always felt the Caverns were underused in that manner, as showing us glimpses of the failed timelines could help provide context for why our adventurers keep blithely going along with omnicidal maniacs and making obviously-terrible short-term alliances like the shamans with Magatha Grimtotem or the Forsaken with Godfrey and his goons, with the results of deviating from the 'proper' timeline being even worse.
Be seeing you guys on Bloodsail Buccaneers NA!

While I don't have time to really plot out these things in the manner of the OP's great initial post, I thought I'd provide a quick list of CoT content that would be cool to experience:

    • Fall of the Zandalari Empire (Zandalari vs. nascent Kaldorei)
    • The Ordering of Azeroth (Titanforged vs. Old God forces)
    • Final Battle of the Troll Wars
    • Aegwynn vs. Avatar of Sargeras
    • War of the Satyr
    • War of the Three Hammers (Modgud's attack on Grim Batol and the summoning of Ragnaros)
"We're more of the love, blood, and rhetoric school. Well, we can do you blood and love without the rhetoric, and we can do you blood and rhetoric without the love, and we can do you all three concurrent or consecutive. But we can't give you love and rhetoric without the blood. Blood is compulsory. They're all blood, you see." ― Tom Stoppard, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead

The most iconic Warcraft moment ever; Arthas' invasion of Quel'telas to resurrect Kel'thuzad in The Sunwell. It can be played from both sides. Players assisting Arthas in infiltrating Quel'telas, or players assisting Sylvanas in defending it.

These are basically the top two on my list of always wanting for COT dungeons.

That wouldnt exactly be that interesting though. The best CoT dungeons so far has been about the Infinite Dragonflight destabilizing the timeline by attempting ot avert atrocities taht ended up being important in the long run.
Culling of Stratholme was interesting because we had to help Arthas kill civilians because the world would end if we didnt.
Black Morass was about having to help Medivh open the portal to allow hte Orcs to rampage across Azeroth.

    The Betrayal of Dark'Khan
Event: Empowered by Arthas, Dark'khan became one of the most egotistical and ambitious traitors Silvermoon ever saw. Without the fall of Quel'thalas and Silvermoon to Dark'khan and his Scourge forces at the foot of Quel'thalas, the Blood Elves may have remained isolated and never joined the Horde.

Gameplay: Dark'khan is to deliver unto the Scourge two powerful artifacts: The Stone of Flame, and the Stone of Light. These artifacts, infused with the power of the Sunwell, were meant as wards against the Scourge. As players, we will have to assist Dark'khan's deliverance of these items safely into the Scourge's hands from interfering Infinite Dragonflight.

Moral Dilemma: As players, stopping the Infinite Dragonflight from disrupting Dark'khan from delivering the stones in this passage of time would mean we would have to go along with and assist Dark'khan with his betrayal - ultimately leading to much bloodshed. But without which would lead to a timeline where the Horde may not have had the Blood Elves.
