America is safe from the Zodiac Killer with Cruz under quarantine.

The main cause for panic is that even a mild case isn't like a cold, its still like a shitty flu, and that is mild.

Hopefully it will be handled better than it was near San Antonio, Texas.

    First the headline:

    https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/te...ed/ar-BB10XPoQ

Texas braces for more coronavirus evacuees from Grand Princess, with residents ‘mad and scared’

My first immediate reaction was to be skeptical of the nimby reaction of the residents. Then I read the article. Here are some excerpts.

    First paragraph:

When the first planeload of evacuees arrived direct from China in early February, city officials learned that one woman was sick with the novel coronavirus. They said they were told to scramble an ambulance and find her a hospital bed.
Wait... this was not all worked out well before hand? Apparently not

    A bit further down:

Texas is one of three states that so far has accepted hundreds of evacuees flown out of dire conditions in Wuhan, China, and aboard the stricken Diamond Princess. In nearly every location, local officials say they have been blindsided by the sudden requests, alarmed by the lack of information and exasperated by haphazard protocols.

Though most evacuees are confined to military bases for a 14-day quarantine, people who test positive for covid-19, the disease caused by the new strain of coronavirus, must be transported by local emergency crews to local hospitals. In San Antonio, bungled testing by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention led to the Feb. 29 release of a still-infected woman, who checked into a busy airport hotel and roamed the local North Star Mall.
The released a still-infected woman? Well... apparently yes they did

No place has had a more disturbing experience than San Antonio. Lackland Air Force Base, which so far has received 235 evacuees, is located 10 miles west of the center of town. Federal health officials alerted the city’s office of military and veteran affairs when the first flight was en route. But not to worry, they said: The evacuees would be confined to the base under a tight quarantine and would pose no danger to residents.

It never occurred to the city to fight the plan.

“We took them at their word” that it would be safe, Assistant City Manager Colleen Bridger said.

But city officials quickly discovered that federal officials had neglected to share a crucial piece of information: Lackland was refusing to house any evacuee who tested positive for the virus. When the plane from Wuhan landed just past noon on Feb. 7, city officials learned that one person was sick — and that the federal government expected local officials to care for her.
Ewwwwwwwwww. Leaving this as a "small detail" that ... intentionally was not communicated ...

In general, the CDC apparently has done a horrible job of communicating important details and logistical expectations and plans.

Rep. Chip Roy (R-Tex.) sent a letter to Esper and Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar asking whether “the extra transportation and movement of sick patients put San Antonio and Bexar County residents further at risk?” Roy said that he has since been in touch with HHS but that the Pentagon has not responded — “and I’m pretty ticked about it.”

Pentagon officials did not respond to a request for comment.

Getting CDC officials to talk also “was like getting a diamond out of coal,” Nirenberg said. “Everyone continued to point up. They weren’t being empowered to make decisions locally.”
I hope it's not as bad as this article makes it out to be. A lot of this article is pointing out the various mishaps surrounding a single bad case. On the other hand, Anniston, Alabama can't be blamed so much for fighting back against the CDC and not allowing patients to be delivered there. Gotta protect your own, especially in the face of such dangerous incompetence.

China is notorious for lying. Everything is a front in that country when it comes to anything that could hurt their image.

There's zero chance that the numbers they report are accurate.

Saying that China is being truthful would be like saying Trump is being truthful.

Yet people are comparing it to the flu. I wanna see the flu causing all that, or even a fraction. :P

The numbers may not be that accurate however they have shown that they are taking this issue very seriously and are using tracking tools at their disposals to track Infected Individuals, cleaning streets, drones etc...

China and the majority of the Asian Population (China, HK, S Korea) in general are taking this Pandemic much more seriously and taking a lot of precautions then most western countries.

Americas response has overall been slow and pathetic (with idiotic Trump Cultists still believing that china has been weaponizing the Coronavirus against Trump among Trump pretending this the severity of the Virus is a Democratic Hoax, Trumpists ignoring that Trump dismantled the NSC Pandemic Response Team etc...) compared to the majority of Asia.

Anyone with half a brain would know that cases would increase once testing started ramping up. It's hard to have confirmed cases if you're not testing.

If we had a mother fucking death counter and a breaking news report every 10 minutes on all channels on how many people get diabetes and die or are maimed by diabetes, we would have fucking banned Sugar by now.

The panic has very very little to do with the damage the illness can cause and all to do with how the fucking media deals with it and how people are dumb enough to fucking panic.

Comparing a Contagious Virus with no Vaccine available to Diabetes which is easily preventable and not contagious?

Wrong, it has everything to do with the damage the illness can cause, and what panic? You mean people panic buying cleaning supplies?

There's a difference though, between personal choice and something out of your control. Banning sugar is seriously ridiculous, it's a persons choice to consume that much sugar (and you have to question if the stats are all related to JUST sugar consumption and not hereditary). You don't choice to become infected.

A better stat would be how many people die because someone ELSE drank. A drunk driver kills someone every 50 minutes or so

There's no reason for the entire country of Australia to be out of TP, come on man. People are having to buy generally cheap household item for massive amounts higher on things like Ebay just to wipe their ass.

Bare in mind i was joking and saying how some are comparing this to the flu, yet the flu wouldn't cause global damage/multiple country wide panic buying. Being sensible and staying calm/following directions given by public health figures, there is no need to panic or out mass buying things.

Speaking of Australia. Did you see that family that accidentally bought a crap ton of TP *2300 ish rolls* by mistake? They meant to order a lot less. There was a post of their daughter sitting on 2 full stacked pallets of TP.

What does it matter if China is lying? You don't live there, and they're dealing with it far better than any other country. It's extremely pathetic how other countries have been treating the spread of the virus comparatively.

Until a country is willing to close down the travel of 60 million people entirely (not just partially), they can shove it in complaining that China isn't doing enough.

It's also important to realize that any vaccine being available in the next 12-15 months is wishful thinking. There is still no vaccine to SARS and that was 18 years ago. Luckily a lot of money is pouring into creating a vaccine, but money doesn't magically make one appear. Tests have to be continuously successful for a vaccine to even begin to materialize, and that could potentially take years.

How the fuck do you accidentally buy 2300 +/- rolls of TP? O.o

the US last night admitted they have no way to even track what hospitals and testing facilities are doing with the 900,000 test kits.

so the numbers in the US are not even close to accurate since tracking is a huge cluster fuck right now.

sad since we had so much time to prepair after it started to spread in china...but i guess when you have an administration that thinks its just the flu and will not be a problem.....
