I'm fine with waiting for it to come out on PC. I've waited more than two decades, what's another year. There's enough out there to occupy my time, it'll still be fun to play a year from now. Heck, it'll probably be MORE fun with better FPS, possible modding, and all that.
I don't fault console players for enjoying it, of course.
,Modding yeah. I look forward to make this game I have been waiting for decades not look like itself. Yeah. Well to each their own I guess.
My PC is shit and my brother took our PS4 with him when he moved out. So I don't feel guilty about watching the streams. I already have a crazy theory about the remake.
Back in the day you played and loved or didn't these games and ports and mods were non-existent. Idk if I'm gonna buy it or not. Depends on how long it lasts. I just can't fathom the entire first part last the starting zone that didn't last all that long in the first game.
How much of it is cinematic?
Is there any replayability?
Will your progress go through to part 2 or will you start with what the game gives you? If so will someone have to play the first part in order to play the second?

Hey, short question: is the game out?
I saw this report: https://howlongtobeat.com/game?id=57686 saying that it has about 20+ hours of gameplay. How can this be already out?
Thanks.
Honestly, 20+ hours is pretty good considering this is just the beginning of FF7. I look forward to seeing how they manage to stretch it all out. I will probably cancel my physical preorder though, I was fine waiting for Persona 5R but I don't think I can wait until Monday to get this.
20 hours. So less than half the original game.
Yeah this game is looking more and more over hyped. Glad I didn't pre order. Square are a wait for reviews before you buy company now
Most FF games can be rushed in very short time, and in the case of the older ones are usually gated mostly by unskippable cutscenes and videos.
Here's some data from speedruns:
V: 3:41h (any %, English)
VI: 5:04h (any %, glitchless)
VII: 7:11h (any %, no slots)
VIII: 7:18h (any %, French)
IX: 8:39h (any %)
X: 10:02h (any %)
X-2: 3:41h (any %) | 18:30h (100%)
XII: 5:46h (any %, PS2, NA)
XIII: 6:04h (any %, PC, no shroud)
XIII-2: 2:39 (any %, PC) | 10:26h (all fragments, PC)
XIII-3: 1:58h (any %, normal, PC) | 1:34h (any %, hard, PC)
XV: 4:10h (any %, no ring, PC, normal)
Obviously these are speedruns, but as you can see, they're CONSIDERABLY under even the 20h mark, let alone 40h. Even a 100% run of X-2 (which actually has a % mechanic) comes in under 20h.
I'm not worried that the game will be too short. SO FAR. Of course, all this is subject to revision as more information becomes available. Additionally, as was already pointed out earlier in the thread, completion time/content length is only one very rough heuristic - it also matters HOW GOOD the content is, so if it's a 10h story and 30h of fetch quests and escort missions, that would obviously be terrible. It's hard to gauge that quality, though, and put into an objective, comparable metric; some people enjoy things others don't (I really like FFX-2 for example and many other people don't).

I think a lot of the extra time is gonna be extra dialogue, and cutscenes, I mean if the demo is any indication. Which yeah you can skip which will cut down the time considerably for sure. From what I understand it's a pretty linear experience, not that it's a bad thing, but means it probably won't be terribly bloated with open world fetch quests, so it's not something I'm terribly concerned about. And I think 30ish hours for an RPG is the sweet spot for me. A game that's taking me over 50 hours I usually just end up getting bored from the repetition of the gameplay and stories that don't know when it's a good time to end. Like the tales of games, I love them, but damn do they drag on.
If I just do main story I can finish VII in like 15-20 hours easily lmfao, half my ass. If the game is between 30-40 hours for 100% then it's pretty much in line with main line FF games(only exceptions to this rule are the international versions of XII and X which are a bit longer but not crazily so). Now I'm sure some one is gonna reply to me with "but I spent 70 hours+ in X game!". Yea that either means you're slow or bad or afk for half of your play time and counting it, so don't reply with that. FF games have never been that long by JRPG standards.

Whelp, read spoilers; I will no longer be buying this game.
Oh well I guess.
