I mean, that's great if you have a home gym but that really has nothing to do with that line of conversation.

what workouts does a home gym not cover then? my point is you don't NEED to go to a public gym to get a workout.

Please go back and read that actual line of discussion (including the statement I quoted within my post) so you can see the context of my post; you're trying to argue with something I was not saying. I was replying to a statement specifically about people who aren't knowledgeable on home workouts. If you have a home gym, that obviously doesn't apply to you.

At no point anywhere in this entire thread did I make an argument that going to a public gym was necessary for a workout. In fact, I have several posts saying the opposite.

You don't need a home gym. Unless you really like a particular piece of equipment and want to own it, there's no reason to. You can accomplish strength training with a few weights, for example. And if you're just aiming for general fitness or cardio, you don't even need that.

It depends on what your specific goal is but unless it's like, body building, there are usually alternative ways to do it that don't require a slew of things or expensive equipment.

My "home gym" includes a yoga mat, three different kettlebells, a resistance band, and a jump rope. It takes up less space on my floor than my computer tower and probably cost less than a couple months of gym membership.

Considering the billions of people that survive without ever seeing a gym; it's pretty obviosu how this is not only a fucking dumb question but a really boring one too.

It is a sign of lock-down cabin fever that we've entertained it for 4 pages. Now lets go watch some paint dry.

A global pandemic with national lockdowns isn't a frequent occurence, it won't hurt you too much to substitute going to the gym with doing pushups and squats in your bedroom for a while.

You can exercise at home fairly easy. And really do not need much if any equipment. Unless your goal is to be a body builder.

To expand on at-home and bodyweight movements:
    - air squats
    - burpees
    - mountain climbers
    - jumping jacks
    - ab crunches
    - jumping squats
    - lunges

    There's many more!

as has been stated you don't need a gym to live. there is a whole bunch of exercises you can do at home. unless your house is the size of a broom closet.

People in Jail manage to get ripped confined to a 2m by 2m cell with just a bed and toliet seat.

yes prisons have gyms but they dont always have access to it and not every inmate gets access to gen pop ever.

So if they can do it, you sure can in a house ffs.

Its April in Wi, which means temps from ~30-50 degrees (normally we do get some random 60+). My gym is closed despite the fact its also a PT clinic. Know whats not closed, Scoops fuckign Ice Cream shop. A Fucking Ice Cream Shop is an essential service, in WI in fuciking April, but a place that provides PT is not....Some of this shit is fucking bonkers. Fast Food is "essential"? Fuck off, essential for spreading the Rona.

You don’t need a gym to get a good workout. You don’t even need gym equipment depending on which body part you’re working.

If you insist on lifting weights you can buy a couple pairs of dumbbells on amazon for cheap.

All you really need is a mat for a good core workout

Russian Twists, Situps, Crunches, Leg Raises, Oblique crunches, Dips, Wall Sits (that one is a favourite of mine), Plank, Push Ups (standard, military, wide or triangle, take your pick), Jumping jacks and squats.

One that I do for karate training is a kicking pattern which works balance and leg strength plus endurance. Front, Back, Side, Roundhouse, Inside and Outside Crescent and Hook kicks. Easy to do once, I do the whole pattern facing 4 directions, then switch legs. Feel the burn baby!

    I don't even do that.
Tons of people don't work out and still stay healthy and live a long life.
Now, I think not only gym is non-essential, but working out generally is non essential.
Eat healthy and walk a bit and you will stay slim and healthy.
