A YouTuber suggested that after each expansion they do a level squish back down to 50 and add all previous expansions into the leveling system

I don’t like that simply because there’s no reason to constantly reset player levels as it will be seen as capping progression

Why stagnate your game when you can progress it further

Because it is the same kind of stagnation we've had for over 12 years now? Every expansion is player power reset anyway, even if we ignore squishes.

Except in this case they say the direct reason why it isn't happening while also hinting that the future may have a different outcome (the lore). Nothing about mechanics, nothing about faction exclusivity or neutrality... just the lore. I agree that they usually are guarded and "no plans" means just "no" (see: High Elves) but in this case they continued afterwards and explained that they meant "no plans for right now" and explained that the lore could change. Nothing like "sorry, no plans for that".

If Ion/Blizz didn't say twice "wait and see" then I would say it looks unlikely, but twice now they've said "nothing right now but wait and see".

As you said with the "obvious" Zandalari Paladins despite Blizzard saying they couldn't do it (they wouldn't exist if they weren't planned), I consider the amount of work put into the covenant races (so far) to be the obvious part. The amount of different horns for Fauns is extremely pointless if they are just one NPC horde among the others in Ardenweald.

Well I hope you are right for your sake. I don't have a dog in this particular race so if it works out, cool. All I am saying is that from my personal perspective right now, it doesn't seem to be happening.

More interesting for Alliance, Horde had a set themed that way just recently with darkshore, especially if they go with an alchemy sub-theme. Well I guess if it follows a more low tech approach it might have appeal to some.
