Best Overpowered Combination,Build, Ability, Character in a game...

Personally to me..balance can kinda be overrated

take Marvel vs Capcom 2...a game that is BEYOND terribly balanced and is still recognized as one of the better fighters. Same with Smash Melee and don't even get me started on Pokemon.

So whether it be a single player RPG or a multiplayer Deathmatch what's some of your favorite OP ..well anything

Persona 5: Yoshitsune...just the fact you can make a build that's immune to everything and does a crap ton of damage is just amazing....the fact it takes a bit of planning and work to get him is the icing on the cake

FF7: Powersoul...holy crap its amazing how obscene this weapon is....Death Sentence, Low Life Tifa just destroys the entire game...

FF6: Vanish+Doom. FF6 got LOTS of janky OP abilities....this is just one of them Merit Badge Gau is another great example

Of all the OP intended stuff in FFVI and you pick one that's a bug that's good for like 2 things.

Like one shotting the final boss with Valiant Knife+Ultima Weapon and Master's Scroll, or every character having almost infinite sustain with attacks that do max damage to every enemy.(Seriously, that game is basically the "pick your poison" of OP attacks)

My favorite broken thing was getting 100% upgrades in Saints Row 4. That was a blast to play.

the best part is the "fixed" the merit badge Gau thing in later releases...I don't know why personally if you get the Merit Badge you already won let us have fun :P

    Trails of Cold Steel
    Spoiler:
    Rean the Untouchable Blademaster
    • Equip Evade 1 for +5% EVA.
    • Buy the Border Print T-Shirt and the Sunny Sandle from the Trista clothing store for another +5% EVA each, making that another +10% EVA together.
    • During chapter 2, buy two Evergreens from the jeweler in Bareahard (you can also trade for them near the end of the game). Equip them. They each give +10% EVA so together that's +20% EVA.
    • That's a 35% base evasion rate. Equip Shining and cast Shining on yourself during battle for another 50% EVA boost, giving you an 85% evasion rate by chapter 2. You will dodge and counterattack nearly every time an enemy tries to strike you. As you progress through the game and get access to better evasion gear, you will eventually able to achieve a 100% evasion rate. Don't stack your base EVA rate past 50, as you cannot achieve a base rate of 100% so you mind as well just stop at 50% and use Shining to make up the other 50%. Rean can pretty much solo the game at this point.
    • Equip the Chevalier Master Quartz. This will make Rean aggro all enemies at the start of battle, effectively making him an unkillable dodge tank.

    Trails of Cold Steel 2
    Spoiler:
    Untouchable Tanking
    • Unlike CS1, you actually have options as to who to build as your dodge tank for the whole game (since once you acquire a party member they never leave). With this in mind, I recommend picking a character who has a ranged basic attack, as they will be able to counterattack enemies. Thus, either Fie, Gaius, or Sara. Millium and Machias can work but they their locked quartz slots are wind, so you'd lose out on a lot of their total damage capabilities.
    • In CS2, it is possible to attain a base evasion rate of 100% on certain characters like Fie, so you won't need to spare a slot to use shining. However, you may need to use the Falco master quartz.
    • If you cap your EVA at +50% EVA, you can instead try shoring up your magic defense by equipping Wing and stacking Shield quartz. With Wing, you will also never suffer any status condition inflictions.

    Status condition
    • Equip Juggler on either Machias or Elliot. Stack status condition quartz (primarily Petrify for Machias and Nightmare for Elliot), and buff their main stat (STR for Machias and ATS for Elliot). Spam Petrify Shot as Machias and Nocturne Bell as Elliot. Enjoy as your enemies are powerless to do anything against you.

    Delay strategy
    • For characters with delay crafts, like Rean, Fie, and Gaius. Equip the Raven MQ and stack as much SPD and impede as you can. The Abyss Shadow accessories which can be bought in Bareahard and traded for from the exchange shop help tremendously. Spam your delay craft all throughout battle and your enemies will never get a turn. If you want to go EVEN FASTER, you can add Jusis to your party and have him double cast Noble Command. Don't forget Machias' Burst Shot, which moves your party members up to the top of the turn order. And you have Overdrive. Don't forget that you can use your that spare EP your melee characters aren't using to cast Chrono Burst for even more turns. Also, one the optional Cryptid superbosses drops a Lost Art quartz that bumps everybody to the top of the turn order and gives everybody two extra turns.

    Berserker Gaius (huge burst damage)
    • Equip Chevalier on Gaius.
    • Stack as much HP as possible, then stack STR.
    • Cast Wild Rage during battle to lower HP and gain CP.
    • Spam Savage Fang or his S-craft.

    HOLY SHIT maximum damage S-Craft
    • For Rean and Millium, as they get 4S S-Crafts, capable of taking out 60% of the final boss' health on nightmare difficulty in a single 200 CP S-craft.
    • Equip the Murakumo MQ. Stack as much STR as possible, and then crit. On a NG+ playthrough, you can fight an optional superboss which will give you an accessory with +50% crit.
    • You'll want to go into a battle with 200 CP. Have Rean pop Spirit Unification. If you're using Millium, you'll want to have Rean or Jusis use their crafts twice to buff her to 50% STR. Then pop the 200 CP S-craft. Congrats! You have won the boss battle.

    Trails of Cold Steel 3
    Spoiler:
    Dodge Counterattack
    • Counterattack builds are one of the strongest strats in the Cold Steel series, and it continues to hold true in CS3. Due to being able to equip two different MQs in CS3, this strat is possibly even more powerful than it was in CS2.
    • You get the Sirius master quartz at the beginning of the game, with it set as Kurt's default MQ. Sirius provides a passive stat increase to your evasion stat, starts off battle with the Insight buff (50%+ evasion), and boosts your counterattack damage (if a character dodges an attack and they are within attack range, they will counterattack).
    • Evasion works on a 0 to 100 scale. If your EVA stat is 56, then your dodge rate is 56%. If you have a dodge rate of 100%, you will dodge all incoming physical attacks (except boss S-crafts, which are undodgeable). Since the Insight buff grants you 50% evasion, you normally only need to get your EVA stat up to 50%, and then cast the Shining art on the character to give them the Insight buff, raising their evasion rate to 100%.
    • During the chapter 1 field exercise, you can buy an accessory called Green Pendulum for 3,000 mira from the boutique located inside the department store. You can then run to the antique store, and exchange that Green Pendulum and 20 U-materials for an item called an Evergreen, which boosts EVA by 15%. This is the most powerful evasion boosting accessory in the game. With two equipped, that's 30% evasion. With Pongee Shoes (+5% EVA), Evade 1 (+4% EVA), and a level 3 Sirius (+2% EVA), can have a 91% EVA rate during the chapter 1 field exercise. Once you reach chapter 2 and you can get Evade 2, you can pretty much cap your evasion.
    • Furthermore, there is a fire quartz you can get called Rage (it was called Wrath in CS2), which makes it so that your Counterattacks always crit. If you then equp the Gungir Master Quartz as your sub MQ (which increases your crit damage. This MQ was called Murakumo in CS2), you can turn your character into a powerhouse.
    • You will want to apply this strategy to a character with an attack range higher than 1. Kurt is not a good choice because his attack range is 1, so he will probably be out of range for most counterattacks. Altina is a good choice because her attack range is 3, so she will pretty much almost always be able to counterattack. Later on, Fie, Ash, and Gaius are good choices, as they have the range to pull it off.

    I am speed
    • For fast, physical attackers like Rean/Kurt/Fie
    • Simply equip Zephyr as your main MQ. Stack as much STR and delay as you can. Spam delay crafts. Your enemies will never get a turn. Even though bosses usually can't be delayed, this build is still great because it simply gives you so many turns.
    • Since you will be getting so many attacks in during battle, you can equip the Kaleido MQ (80% chance of getting sepith when you hit an enemy) as your sub to farm sepith.

Rean clears trash battles in one single Gale
    • Sub in the Minotauros MQ on Rean (damage multiplied by 120% at level 7). Equip the Domination quartz (Rean's first attack is multiplied by another 100%). Stack as much STR as you can, and equip two Passionate Rouges (100+ STR accessories, you can get them as early as the chapter 1 field study by buying Red Pendulums from the Boutqiue in the department store, and then exchanging them along with 20 U-materials each at the antique store for a Passionate Rouge). When you begin a battle, simply have Rean use a Gale on the enemy and you will almost certainly kill every non-boss mob in one hit. If not, pop Spirit Unification beforehand and you will definitely kill everyone. Equip the Brigid MQ as your main so you can recoup CP.
    • If your dealing more than enough damage to kill everyone in one hit, you can swap out some accessories and quartz for things that increase loot, such as the Vein quartz (more sepith when killing an enemy) and the Stylish Piggy Bank (when killing an enemy, 50% chance for more loot).

    Status afflictions
    • This build works best on characters who have crafts that inflict status abnormalities (ie Machias), and/or have multiple quartz lines (Rean/Kurt/Gaius).
    • Equip the Thor MQ as the main and Gloom as the sub. For each quartz line, equip a status inflicting quartz (preferably one that stacks on the status condition the user's crafts inflict, increasing the chance of that condition being inflicted). Otherwise, stack SPD and STR.
    • During battle, spam AoE crafts that will inflict as many status conditions on as many enemies as possible. The Thor MQ will deal bonus damage to enemies with status conditions.

    Musse the arts nuker
    • This is very straightforward. Equip Virgo as the main MQ (arts can crit, reduced delay after casting water arts) and Magius as the sub (arts damage multiplied by up to 250% the less health you have). Equip Hades Gem (first art's damage is multiplied by 100%) and Ocean Bell (water arts deal 30% more damage and delay halved), and then stack as much ATS as possible. You'll want to intentionally lower Musse's health to around 20-30%, so she can get the most out of Magius' damage buff. However, this can be tricky because Musse will have low defense and hits will probably take a big chunk out of her health, and since you will probably be leveling up after every few battles, you will have to undergo the tedious process of trying to lower her health down again with killing her. If you find this process too bothersome, just replace the Magius MQ with Pandora (flat 100% arts damage increase).

    Berserker (for Agate/Gaius)
    • Equip the Chevalier MQ as your main (increased damage as health drops), and the Tempest MQ as your sub (increased crit rate as health drops). This means your character will deal the most damage if their HP is around 10-20%. Stack as much HP, DEF, and STR as you can. At the end of the game, the average health of my party members was 7-8k and 900ish DEF, but my Gaius had 17k health and 1800 DEF. That means I can spam Wild Rage on Gaius three times and he will have about 1,700 health, but his DEF will keep him from dying. Proceed to wreck your enemies.
    • This build can be applied to anyone, but because leveling up refills your health and you level up often in this game, the process of trying to lower your characters health can be tedious. Agate and Gaius' wild rage is a quick and easy way to do it.
    • P.S: If you do not have Chevalier, suggestions for a main MQ are Skuld (more break damage, but with the sheer amount of damage being output by this build, you probably won't need more break damage), Gungnir (crit damage), or Keeper (for more survivability).

    Elliot the Nightmare Lord
    • Same deal as in CS2. Equp the Scorpio MQ on Elliot (crafts can inflict Nightmare). Stack nightmare quartz. Spam Nocturne Bell. Watch as your enemies fall asleep and don't wake up as you wail on them. Remember, Nocturne Bell is a magical craft, so it deals more damage with higher ATS, so stack your ATS. With your enemies asleep, you won't need to focus on healing (Elliot's Holy Song and S-craft should suffice), so feel free to equip another damage dealing quartz, like Gloom, as your sub.

Wish abuse in Baldur's Gate 2. Out of spells? Wish for them to all be back. Is one of those spells Spell Trap? You can regain your Wish. Rinse, repeat. Even more fun: the infamous "bunny bomb" - make a bad Wish "I wish for a Horde to swarm my enemies" to spawn a gazillion of harmless critters. Then Wish for an Abi-Dalzim's Horrid Wilting to be cast on everyone in the zone - which will include the gazillion bunnies. If your computer doesn't crash from dropping a thousand of the most powerful AoE nuke onto the screen at once, you've basically sterilized the entire map.

Man, I miss when single player games didn't need to have competitive balance.

He is not the most OP Persona in Persona 5, Kaguya is literally the same thing except starts at a much lower level and can get max magic far easier then max str on Yoshi. On top of that her 8 hit ability can be buffed by more passives then Hasou Tabi can since it is light damage and not physical. The end result is far more damage.

Yoshi is stronger in Persona 5 Royal then vanilla due to the new passive that increases charge damage but still gets edged out by not only Kaguya but a few more new Personas in the game.

Adriano's left foot in PES6. Most explosive weapon in a game. Well, maybe aside from Recoba's left foot.

Yeah but thats DLC thats like saying game genie was OP in any SNES game. Though Kaguya is free in royal.

Kaguya was free for the first month in base game as well, and while you can say its some cheat code at her base level sure, but to actually make her powerful requires a hell of a lot more work then fusing Yoshi. We're talking a level 16 Persona here, she is OP at 16 but she isn't going to be OP at 80 unless you put a massive amount of work into her.

Final Fantasy Tactics- Dual wielding teleporting Dark Knights are broken as hell.

  13. #13
Alchemy in Morrowind was completely broken. Boosting your intelligence made alchemy better, and you could boost intelligence with alchemy with a couple of cheap mats you could buy in some shops. So you made a fortify int potion, drank it, making your alchemy a bit better, which made the next fortify int potion a little bit better and lasting a little bit longer. Which you then drank. Repeat and you ended up with pretty much infinite intelligence. And then you could make potions of that increased everything to near infinity that lasted for ever.

Arcane Warrior specialized mages in Dragon Age Origins were basically invulnerable to all but the toughest enemies when built right, able to stack a ridiculous amount of defenses. Their one weakness is that they needed tons of mana to do actual damage... enter the Blood Mage specialization allowing you to cast spell from HPs at a very generous ratio, and which included a way to leech health off companions and the single most powerful AoE damage/crowd control spell in the game. Most people soloing the game on Nightmare (or more, with mods) use that build, it is ridiculously powerful. Then there was the Awakening expansion that added a half dozen hilariously broken shit to each class.

Off the top of my head, there's also doomstacking in Total War Warhammer. Basically, the AI attempts to field balanced armies most of the time. You don't have to. So if you want an army of 19 T-rexes, giant spiders or building-sized golems with cannons for arms, you can, and it will stomp the crap out of more or less anything the AI fields. Plus, the way the game handles upkeep means that the more armies you have, the more expensive your stuff gets. Which is much less of a problem if you go for fewer, more powerful armies rather than try and mix chaff with elite units.

Infinite Tranquility Spam as a Resto Druid.

World of Warcraft during the brief period (like 1 week or so) between the end of Wrath and the beginning of Cata when they had turned on the Cata changes to Talents but hadn't gotten around to adjusting other things (like modifying set bonuses from old sets).

One of the "unintended" interactions of this was that if you equipped the full set of Cenarian Garb (the Druid T1 8 Piece Armor Set) and then specced into the Resto Druid talent that reduced the cooldown time on Tranquility, you ended up with a Tranquility with a 0 minute cooldown. Tranquility, being a long cooldown based AoE "Oh Shit button" style heal had a MASSIVE healing modifier. Individual ticks of Tranquility would heal for up to 1/4th the HP of a squishy DPS type pretty easily.

Now add Omen of Clarity procs on top of this. Omen of Clarity triggered a chance to cast spells at 0 mana cost, and would proc off of every individual healing tick from a tranquility cast. In a party of 5, that's like 20+ chances to proc every couple of seconds, virtually guaranteeing an Omen proc on every cast.

Was the only time in my 10 year history playing WoW that I actively played a class as a healer. Specced on my druid, threw on 8 pieces of Cenarian, filled every other slot with as much +Spellpower gear as I could find, and then trolled Wrath dungeons as a tree. 1/3 of the time I would get booted out of the group as soon as I loaded into the dungeon because people were like "OMG, your HP/MP are stupid low, WTF are you doing!". The rest of the time? People just boggled at the insanity of basically being almost completely unkillable as we facerolled through stuff under non stop never ending Tranquility heals. Rendered even the supposedly "difficult" dungeons like the Icecrown 5 mans nearly trivial from a healing standpoint. Virtually the only way you could die is if I got silenced or crowd controlled by an enemy.

It might not be THE most overpowered, but the first that came to mind for me was Final Fantasy 8 with Death as your weapon junction. You could basically one shot almost any enemy in the game, including most bosses, with a simple basic attack.

    plasma pistol battle rifle
If you are particularly bold, you could use a Shiny Ditto. Do keep in mind though, this will infuriate your opponents due to Ditto's beauty. Please do not use Shiny Ditto. You have been warned.

Would argue that combo was way better in 10 when combined with a capture weapon....

Though 8...if there was an op anything it was Aura, No Encounter,...and just not leveling and synthing up freakishly late spells early and you were a god among insects thanks to the weird scaling.

Also Zell and Irvine were legit OP

Fuck original console version Selphie was a goddess with her limit simply since you can activate it, open the disc tray, and cycle through it till you get The End while the enemy sits there helplessly
