People like Trump forget that in order to ''get the economy going'' you first need to create and stable situation that allows people to feel comfortable going to work.

I've been trying to take my mind off things by playing Subnautica but I've just gotten to the part with the Crabsquids and seriously, fuck those things, so I guess it's time for the update...

I wasn't expecting this until tomorrow, but it looks like 90k has been reached. 90,113 dead, 1,218 on the 16th (GMT). It was actually fluctuating a little above and below due to some corrections from New York (taking out numbers from previous days that were "probable" but have since been confirmed not COVID-19-related) but it looks like it's now official. New cases is up by about 23k and ACTIVE cases also continue to rise. The trend still seems to be downward nationally, but it's a very slight slope.

And then there's this. Looking at deaths reported from Florida for the past week:

    9th: 47
    10th: 5
    11th: 14
    12th: 47
    13th: 47
    14th: 47
    15th: 42
    16th: 47

The 10th and 11th are obviously Sunday and Monday when deaths and cases nationwide are underreported every week, but for 6 remaining days to be that flat--5 with the exact same total--it strains credulity. In light of Florida not reporting their numbers accurately their numbers ultimately don't mean much, but you REALLY have to question the results coming out of there when it's this fishy. It MAY be just a coincidence, of course, but at this point I think we can safely say it's likely there are many more deaths and infected in Florida than what they are reporting.

I guess we shouldn't expect anything less in this TRUMP SHITSHOW.

    Stay safe, folks.

Well, we have our new missile. Dubbed "Super Duper Missile" by our resident president. https://thehill.com/homenews/adminis...edly-travel-17

"President Trump on Friday touted a mysterious new military asset: a missile that could travel significantly faster than any warhead the U.S. currently has in its arsenal.

"We are building, right now, incredible military equipment at a level that nobody has ever seen before. We have no choice. We have to do it with the adversaries we have out there. We have, I call it the super-duper missile, and I heard the other night — 17 times faster than what they have right now," Trump said in the Oval Office.

Trump's comments came during a White House event where he signed the 2020 Armed Forces Day Proclamation. During the ceremony, the administration also unveiled the flag of the country's newest military wing, the Space Force. It's the first new military flag to be unveiled in 72 years.
"Space is going to be the future, both in terms of defense and offense and so many other things," Trump said. "And already, from what I’m hearing and based on reports, we’re now the leader in space."

A Pentagon spokesman was asked about the "super-duper missile" during a subsequent press call and referred reporters back to the White House."

Friday evening, Pentagon spokesman Jonathan Hoffman tweeted, "The Department of Defense is working on developing a range of hypersonic missiles to counter our adversaries.
    "

Oh, forgot to add this to my daily report:

Texas cases of COVID-19 increasing by thousands since reopening

And by "forgot" I mean "debated not posting because people are already angry and depressed enough".

Also, Graham proves once again that the GOP are hypocritical shitstains.

Graham on potential Supreme Court vacancy: 'This would be a different circumstance' than Merrick Garland

"Y'see, we could go ahead and install a new SC judge this time around because we have both the White House and Senate. In 2016 we couldn't do it because they were Democrats! Totally different!"

That president dies in the 2nd one though, difference being in Independence Day 2 was people liking him. Still enough, Trump wouldn't even be brave enough to fight for America in any physical way, even though he has said he would jump into the line of fire during a mass shooting.

The Trump administration is facing intense criticism for the lack of a national plan to handle the coronavirus pandemic as some states begin to reopen.

Public health experts, business leaders and current administration officials say the scattershot approach puts states at risk and leaves the U.S. vulnerable to a potentially open-ended wave of infections this fall.

The White House has in recent days sought to cast itself as in control of the pandemic response, with President Trump touring a distribution center to tout the availability of personal protective equipment and press secretary Kayleigh McEnany detailing for the first time that the administration did have its own pandemic preparedness plan.

Still, the White House lacks a national testing strategy that experts say will be key to preventing future outbreaks and has largely left states to their own devices on how to loosen restrictions meant to slow the spread of the virus. Trump this week even suggested widespread testing may be “overrated” as he encouraged states to reopen businesses.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on Thursday night issued long-awaited guidance intended to aid restaurants, bars and workplaces as they allow employees and customers to return, but they appeared watered down compared to previously leaked versions.

Some experts said the lack of clear federal guidance on reopening could hamper the economic recovery.

“A necessary condition for a healthy economy is a healthy population. This kind of piecemeal reopening with everyone using different criteria for opening, we’re taking a big risk,” said Mark Zandi, chief economist at Moody’s Analytics.

The lack of coherent direction from the White House was driven home this week by damaging testimony by a former top U.S. vaccine official who claims he was ousted from his post improperly.

“We don’t have a single point of leadership right now for this response, and we don’t have a master plan for this response. So those two things are absolutely critical,” said Rick Bright, who led the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority until he was demoted in late April.

The U.S. faces the “darkest winter in modern history” if it does not develop a more coordinated national response, Bright said. “Our window of opportunity is closing.”
"But Breccia! Surely the plan was to let states run the show all along!"

Well first o all, "you guys take care of it" is not a plan. That is a lack of plan.

Second of all, that doesn't work if Trump steals from states. Which he did. You can't say the plan is to let states handle it, then intentionally interfere with states handling it.

And third of all, again, McEnemy held up some binders and said "this is our plan" after handwaving and dissing the prepwork Obama had handed them. So, no, "let the states handle it" was not the plan.

    Trump has no plan.

    Trump has no plan.

Trump has no plan (and no leadership)

Trump has no plan Trump has no plan

Trump has no plan Trump has no plan Trump has no plan Trump has no plan

Trump has no plan Trump has no plan Trump has no plan Trump has no plan Trump has no plan Trump has no plan Trump has no plan Trump has no plan Trump has no plan

    ...

This may very well be the work of a civil servant on their last remnant of conscience, reporting bogus numbers in a way you can see they are bogus.

Just like the Sandy Hook kids all the "dead" are really alive and being hidden in underground bunkers by the deep state just to hurt Trump. It is all a deep state conspiracy.

Ah, yes, the good old Trumpian conundrum. Democrats are at the same time pathetic losers than get nothing done, but also a world-spanning shadow government capable of doing just about anything just to harm the glorious leader. Who, at the same time is the most awesomest tough guy that can get everything done and whom no one can stand up to, whilst also being a poor underdog fighting the good fight but being foiled at every turn.

The sad part is that some of his followers are so indoctrinated that they can believe both things at once without seeing a contradiction. They are truly beyond the looking glass, believing six impossible things at once before breakfast.

It's amazing to me how we had "Obamagate" which had nothing behind it other than "Black president REEEEEE!", and we literally had another firing-massacre ala Nixon via the firing of the recent IG doing the investigation into Pompeo... and for America, this is now just "Tuesday" for us. =/
