Do you believe in the distinction between essential and non-essential worker?
Why do non-essential workers deserve to be paid more than essential?

Yes, but with more than 2 categories. Essential can be broken down in a lot of subcategories.
Because of supply and demand of certain skills. Electrical engineers that design HiFi speakers aren't exactly essentials, but there's so few of them, and such a high demand for their skills that naturally they get paid more. Why do non-essential workers deserve to be paid more than essential?
Hedge fund manager...fucking useless in an emergency. But get paid too well for nothing.
Nurses overworked and underpaid for what they do now. On a more normal timeframe a registered nurse isn't paid too badly
Yes. Society can't function without transport of goods, or people to sell you those goods for instance. But society can work just fine without game developers, at least for a while.
Depends on the job they do. Retail work is very low-skill and doctors are very high-skill. Both are essential, but make vastly different amounts of money. Why do non-essential workers deserve to be paid more than essential?
Should certain people be paid more than they are? Yes. Should certain people be paid less? Probably. Do all essential workers need to be paid more? Not where I live at least.
the vast majority of the essential jobs don't require advanced skills, so while the job is essential, the worker isn't.
morally i do think those people should be paid a good wage, but economically it just doesn't work that way without government interventions like minimum wage.
No work is essential, sorry people.
Driving on Sunshine.
PM for Tesla referral code.
Join a union, strike if you must and demand your workers rights.
It has done wonders for the workers in Scandinavia.
While oil is unrelated to a union that has been here since the 1800's...what is your point?
Suddenly discovering a valuable resource is not a guarantee for a egalitarian society.
And the money earned from oil is not directly used, but put in a pension fund for future generations, where we
can use a maximum of 2,7% of its value to inject into the yearly state budget.

While I may in some instances feel/believe that essential work should be paid more, our economy operates under the supply & demand idea.
"In order to maintain a tolerant society, the society must be intolerant of intolerance." Paradox of tolerance
This isn't in the least true. Without the police for example, chaos would run rampant in the streets. There was a increase in crimes in NYC just from the lock downs. If there were no police around?
And besides public health and security concerns, national security is also very essential.

“ The Constitution be never construed to authorize Congress to - prevent the people of the United States, who are peaceable citizens, from keeping their own arms..” - Samuel Adams
Any job can be viewed as essential or non-essential depending on the context. Some jobs are good for the economy, which bank-roles jobs like doctors, nurses and paramedics etc.
