FOMO: "Fear Of Missing Out", also commonly known as people with a mental issue of managing time and activities, many expecting others to fit into their schedule so they don't miss out on things to come. If FOMO becomes a problem for you, do seek help, it can be a very unhealthy lifestyle..
No, I really dislike it. I think it really removes the feeling of having a server and a community on that server.
I do prefer it over empty servers however.
I think Blizzard should just suck it up and do an actual merge and purge all those realms with populations of just 30 players.
I don't like connected realms, I love them.
We are talking about the same "connected realms" right? Where they take two underpopulated servers and merge them? Because I didn't even realize there WAS a reason not to like them... that's just silly. Of course I'd want more people on my server.
And the people saying it killed server identity?! Wtf?! I'm pretty sure you guys are talking about CRZ and the LFG tool, which you definitely have a point there. But connected realms... no not at all. Some people are wanting their server identity to only be with their original server, that's not going to be the case. My server is connected with a few other's, and I know if I see a
"-ServerNameConnectedWithMine" after someone's name
that player is part of "my server". They are part of my server community. I don't only look for people that are part of my original server. That would be kinda weird...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0H3-N9zoI5c Amazing video of 60+ devilsaurs raiding Undercity!
My God, what a horrible creation. People seeing what they want? Thank God they tried to shy away from that. I know it pisses me off when I'm in an heroic raid, yet in the back of my head all I can think is 'some casual player is playing a heroic dungeon and not wiping.' -Vodkarn
Ease of connection outside of WoW would have done that by itself regardless.
The primary reason server communities formed so often in early WoW was because WoW WAS how people connected and stayed connected. It was before wide spread social media and chat services. Its why classic hasn't magically rebirthed server communities like way back when, or why other MMO don't have such major communities.
World needs more Goblin Warriors https://i.imgur.com/WKs8aJA.jpg
They pretty much need to connect a lotttttt of the dead realms, like out of the 120 NA realms - only the top 20 really make sense.. the other 100 should be connected so that they could contend with just how much better the top 20 are compared
who doesn't like bigger auction houses ?
Technically, yes. But when it comes to knowing who actually plays on your server, I'd say no.
My server is connected to others and I have no idea apart from just a few who play on my server.
Back when I was playing before Wrath I was on Blade's Edge, Eu.
I knew who the ninja looters were, who the best guild was and their leaders, the random chatty people, or the good geared/skilled players.
That hasn't been a thing since forever.
I actually do like them. It usually means that I can use the same character name multiple times on essentially the same server.
It is a positive for low pop realms whose guilds have communities within them and do not want to xfer their members to another realm just to try and get more numbers for Mythic raid. This helps with recruitment immensely as there is a larger pool of players to bring in.
No, they're a stupid bandaid solution because they are terrified that doing what they should actually be doing (server merges) would create an impression the games dying.
i'm on a realm that's connected with 4 others.
A positive thing is, each still has it's own character cap, meaning i can have 11(or w/e the current cap is) characters on each of them. With this i would be able to use the whole account cap (50-ish) on the same realm. Whatever that would be useful for...
But I'm no altoholic, so I don't. Blocked the name of my main on the other 4, though...
Yeah a lot of changes made the game better over time for me when I play, connected realms are one of them. It made playing Horde on Frostmourne not a total nightmare anymore being outnumbered faction-wise all the time. I had chars on smaller servers like Jubie'thos and Nagrand that I couldn't be bothered logging into because barely any guilds recruiting and I remember trying to get the Mana regen card back in Emerald Nightmare on Disc Priest and just not having access to it at all because we didn't have any in the AH lol.
But taking being a long-time player out of the equation; it's more the fact that when new people come to the game they don't pick a dead server and are just miserable.
