The US has run out of time and excuses. Now we'll be forced to watch thousands die of the coronavirus.

At this point, the numbers speak for themselves.

The coronavirus killed nearly 1,000 Americans on Tuesday, another 950 on Wednesday, and 842 on Thursday— the highest daily death counts reported in a month. Nearly 44,000 Americans have been hospitalized with severe COVID-19 cases, up from 31,000 four weeks ago. The country broke its own record for daily infections yet again on Tuesday, with more than 60,000 new cases reported.

This is not, as President Donald Trump continues to claim, simply a reflection of increased testing — that would not explain the rising hospitalizations and deaths.

Instead, this is a moment of reckoning: The deadly consequences of reopening too early, eschewing masks, and being too slow to ramp up testing and contact tracing are revealing themselves. Expert after expert warned about this a couple of months ago, and now it's too late.

New projections from the University of Washington's Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation suggest that 80,000 more people in the US are expected to die of COVID-19 from now until November — more than a 60% increase from where our death toll stood on Friday, at 132,000.
Quick note, here's more info on that, an article that also says "that's more Americans than died in WWI" and "the US is testing fewer people per capita than Russia"

Three months ago, at what was the peak of the coronavirus outbreak, 36,000 people were being diagnosed per day. That number was unthinkably high. In the past two weeks, the record for new cases reported on a single day has been broken six times.

Experts who described the possibility of a second wave assumed the US would see a precipitous decline in cases and deaths, as most other countries have. Instead, the nightmare of our first wave continues to snowball.

"We went up, never came down to baseline, and now we're surging back up, so it's a serious situation that we have to address immediately," Dr. Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said in an online talk on Monday.

Experts know what to expect in the wake of an infection surge like this: A few weeks after cases rise, hospitalizations creep up. Then come deaths.
I think we're a little past "creep up".

There's obviously already enough shit in this TRUMP SHITSHOW for today, but here's some more for us to shovel anyway...

71,787 new cases, so obviously my optimism that it wouldn't reach 70k was completely unfounded. Nearly 11.5k from Florida and over 10k again for Texas. California a couple hundred shy of 9k. Georgia skyrockets to a new high of nearly 4.5k. Louisiana, Tennesse, the Carolinas, Ohio, Arizona, Mississippi, Alabama and Nevada all continue to trend up with numbers in the thousands, flirting with their previous highs. I'm sure other states are reaching new highs (Utah, for example, at 867 when their previous high from two days ago was 722) but I'm focusing on those above 1k purely to save my time and sanity.

Deaths are, once again, up from the previous week. It was 626 last Friday and it currently stands at 849 today. We can no longer see it merely as a fluke given the data from the past week. These aren't corrections. The daily death toll is once again climbing. Given the sheer number of new cases I don't think going above 1k again is avoidable anymore. The medical community may have learned a lot from the first few months of this thing and supplies may be better stocked and better treatments may be available, but since hospitals are already becoming overwhelmed in many areas none of that means a damned fucking thing. At least 136,671 dead now, many as a result of Trump's incompetence and the willful ignorance of his supporters.

Halfway through writing this I got a call from my parents in the States and learned that my aunt fell over, hit her head and died. In the midst of my grief all I can think about is how Trump has gotten ANOTHER of his criminal co-conspirators off their due punishment and how COVID-19 is fucking killing thousands of Americans and I can't help but say "Thank goodness she doesn't have to live through any more of this shit."

I hope Trump, once he's out of office one way or the other, never spends another day when he doesn't have to look over his shoulder. Either for rightfully angry people he's fucked over for the past 4 years or for prosecutors serving him papers for endless amounts of court dates. May he never, ever have a day of peace. May his family fall to ruin and fight each other for the scraps of his crumbling empire built out of debt. May he forever be known as the absolute worst person ever to sit in Oval Office and bring America to such disgrace that even her staunchest allies think twice about coming to her aid.

He wants to be famous; let him be infamous. Let him be remembered as the most pathetic, loathsome wretch ever to walk the grounds of the White House.

And that's including Dick fucking Cheney.

    Stay safe, folks.

Almost 72k during the most humid time, jeez when the air get's dryer in the fall that 100k estimate Fauci said wouldn't surprise him might end up being on the conservative estimates. US is fucked.

Still, I am not expecting any miracles out of the court system. Barr is evil, but he isn't a fool, and he seems to be rather effective at subverting justice. I half expect them to arrest Hillary Clinton and/or Hunter Biden a week before the election.

Dictatorship, full (obvious to everyone as opposed to just the poor) descent into a third world banana republic, tens of millions of homeless, massive civil unrest, and very likely civil war. If Trump can somehow get ahold of launch codes (right now he can't, but if he gets full dictator powers which he will if he "wins" in November, he probably can), the whole world is fucked, because he WILL nuke US cities suspected of having "liberals". He's not smart enough to know that nukes don't just affect the places they hit. It will probably end with the EU taking a side in the civil war (not hard to guess which one) and invading. The aftermath will be a few different countries...some ok, some third world shitholes. I expect the western states to join Canada. Some other states would probably join Canada or the EU. Some would form their own countries, some ok, some would be the worst third world shitholes you've ever seen (the "red" states).

Just a reminder, there's been no concrete movement yet on a second stimulus check, more PPP funds (aside from a few leftover dollars that didn't go to hate groups or the Catholic church, whoa, didn't think I'd put two in the same sentence when I woke up this morning), or more unemployment extensions. Team Trump is pushing people back to business in an increasingly lethal outbreak, but has no plan to do so nor funds to help it happen. Even the bribe to go back to work has vanished -- it's not like the jobs are coming back. The best we can say is that unemployment claims aren't as bad this week. Continued claims dropped from 18.7 million to 18 million, but 1.31 million more new claims were just filed.

He has to be defeated in a landslide. He and DeVos are pure evil.

    https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/tr...TYt?li=BBnb7Kz

Title: Trump and DeVos want schools ‘fully’ open, but not many are listening

President Trump and Education Secretary Betsy DeVos spent much of this week pressuring and cajoling schools to reopen. DeVos, in particular, made clear she means five days a week.
How isolated from reality can these people be? I found the rest of the article just flat out hard to read.

As secretary, DeVos has pushed for flexibility and local control. But in recent days, as the White House pushed for schools to reopen, she was clear: Schools should be open full-time for all. On Wednesday, after a meeting of the White House coronavirus task force, she said schools “must fully open and they must be fully operational.” She singled out plans in Fairfax County, Va., for a hybrid system as a failure.
Basically, school systems are using two ways of trying to cope with the virus: one is to try to have a high percentage of their students be full time remote learning, which would reduce the number of students in classrooms. The other way is to have students come in 5 days every 2 weeks.

Mostly, people are ignoring the advise of DeVos.

Texas is pushing the envelopes of just how fast they can infect as many people as possible.

The third school DeVos singled out for praise, International Leadership Texas, another charter network, is giving parents a choice between full-time in school and full-time remote learning. That decision came after Texas on Tuesday ordered all districts to offer full-time, on-campus options for families who want it.

Superintendent Eddie Conger said in an email he expects about 30 percent of families will opt for in-person school, which will allow for distancing inside buildings. “If 100% of our parents said ‘no I want in-school,’ that’s going to be a major, major challenge.”
So basically Texas decreed that every district HAS to give each student the option of full time in-person schooling. People on the front lines are hoping that only 30% go along with that.

    Trump is evil.
    DeVos is evil.

There is no other way to say it.

Idk how this got conflated. I wasn't talking about Trump and his taxes. I was talking about the SDNY looking into Giuliani. We know they are, we know Barr and Trump have been trying to fuck with SDNY because of this case. And they have openly fucked with Stone and Manafort's cases, that I personally believe that the SDNY are being cautious and won't bring any charges until after they know the outcome of the election, in an attempt to keep the two of them from interfering anymore than they can and have. If Trump wins, well Giuliani is basically off the hook for whatever charges they bring, but if Biden wins, they might wait till after the inauguration to minimize Trump and Barr influence.

The instant that happens we are looking at tens of millions of homeless at the minimum. Homeless that lost everything and have NOTHING to lose. I can fully understand people that are being evicted going full scorched earth and completely utterly destroying the property they are being kicked out of.

Find something you care about. This crisis WILL end.

Suicide is a long term solution to a short term problem.

Immerse yourself in WOW, or Candy Crush, or anything - just not alcohol or drugs.

Exercise your body - 10k steps a day 2 days out of 3 (if you can't do that many, do what you can and build up). Add pushups 2 days out of 3 (however many you are comfortable with).

Exercise your brain - learn a language, create some art or music, play chess seriously, take some Physics courses, work your way up through Calculus

Breccia this goes for you too. I worry about you sometimes. The news is horrible these days. Take a break from it now and again.

Stay inside to protect your physical health.
And be sure to take care of your mental and emotional health as well.

These are unprecedented rough times for the US. Right now the goal is to survive, and who knows maybe be happy once in a while

    Please take care.

So, everyone's been saying that Phase One with China is dead, and thanks to @Edge- we have Trump confirming this.

We've also said, off and on, that Russia isn't happy with what they paid for Trump. Consider this Phase Cука.

Trump on Friday confirmed for the first time that the U.S. launched a cyberattack on the Russian Internet Research Agency (IRA) in 2018.

Trump confirmed the attack in a two-part interview with The Washington Post’s Marc Thiessen. When asked whether the U.S. had launched an attack on the IRA — a troll farm that led the effort to spread disinformation around the 2016 presidential election and 2018 midterm elections — Trump said that was “correct.”

The cyberattack, first reported by The Washington Post in 2019 but not confirmed publicly by the Trump administration, involved U.S. Cyber Command disrupting internet access for the building in St. Petersburg that houses the IRA on the night of the U.S. 2018 midterm elections, halting efforts to spread disinformation as Americans went to the polls.

Trump told Thiessen that he acted on intelligence around potential Russian interference in the 2018 midterms in ordering the cyberattack, criticizing former President Obama for not taking similar actions ahead of the 2016 elections.

“Look, we stopped it,” Trump told Thiessen, noting that “nobody has been tougher on Russia than I have.”
Now, we already know every single US Intelligence department directly told Trump that Russia attacked the election, and also, they wanted Trump to win. Trump is still denying that last part. But this is basically "fuck you Russia" from Trump, with the open admission.

    So let's recap today.

    1) Trump's inactions are costing unemployment, GDP, and predictedly over 200,000 deaths by November.

    2) Trump attended a mostly-empty rally in Tulsa, limped home in the funniest Lincoln Project video ever, and just canceled another one in Who Cares At This Point due to low attendance, then blamed rain -- double irony, he told people at his inauguration it wasn't raining on them while it was raining on them, plus Sharpiegate.

    3) Sharpiegate.

    4) The military is turning against him.

    5) The GOP Senate is turning against him. A growing number aren't going to the Trump ego trip. McConnell even hinted he wouldn't.

    6) Phase One is over.

    7) He admitted attacking Russia, who helped him, which he asked for and also he knows they helped.

    8) Every single diplomatic action he's taken has failed. Iran, Israel, Syria, Nobel Prize/North Korea, and the UK. The EU is now banning Americans. Mexico is banning Americans.

    9) He built enough Wall to go around his dick, but not around his fat ass. Mexico hasn't sent a check yet.

    10) Oil and coal have cratered. Steel and manufacturing are lucky if they held level. The tax cut for the rich didn't pay for itself. Hotels, including his own, are losing more money than they're taking in.

    11) Almost every state that backed Trump is a cesspool. Most of them, because of COVID-19 re-opening too soon at Trump's direct order. The exception is West Virginia, where Fallout 76 is still being sold. It's on Game Pass now. How?
11a) Throw in Boeing at this point.

    12) As a result of all this, he trails Biden in nearly every poll, including places like Texas,

    13) So he hands millions/billions to churches, hate groups, and his friends...

    14) Starts the first of likely several pardons/sentence reductions of his friends (convicted felons)...

    15) And goes golfing.

Okay, this is conjecture, and I admit it's not necessarily the most likely option.

    Has Trump given up?

We usually see the big give-away when they're lame ducks. Has Trump accepted that? I know Trump wants money and power and fame, but is he being told to cash out his stock before the business goes bankrupt?

Maybe it's just wishful thinking. Maybe the pint of Pucker Up fermented. And again, I don't think this is the most likely chance. But I think it is a chance.

Trump might be too tired of winning to continue.

The cynic in me says that they're doing it because they expect urban populations (which mostly vote Dem) to be more effected when these children get sick and go home to infect their families. Their precious private school kids already have smaller class sizes and families with access to better healthcare, so they'll probably be "fine." As fine as anyone will be with the government throwing up its hands and giving up on containing this shit.
