Garbage source, but meanwhile in America while we're still failing to combat a pandemic and have reached over 150,000 people dead in around 6 months, over half a million people apparently really care about stupid fucking conspiracies and think that Bill Gates needs to put a microchip in them to track them.

As if these people aren't already carrying around GPS enabled phones tracking their locations already. These are the same people who've said they won't take a coronavirus vaccine when one is created due to these concerns, and it's depressingly a bi-partisan issue -

Indeed, but moving around in a mask is not running. It's crazy humid in my neck of the woods these last few days and I wear a mask at work 8-9 hours a day while moving around somewhat, I manage and I'm hardly the fittest guy on the planet by any stretch of the imagination. Unless one does indeed have specific health reasons not to wear a mask, they should, that's the end of that. And here in Quebec at least you are legally allowed not to wear one in interior public spaces if you have such a condition.

This just keeps getting better. This virus appears to cause cardiac damage, even in those who don't need to be hospitalized.

Honestly, with how rushed the vaccine is ensured to be right now, I wouldn't take it either. Purely because I don't believe it would have enough testing to ensure its fully safe and wont cause a major issue further on down the line. While we absolutely need to figure something out, we need to be sure that we don't exchange one problem for another.

Nope it is hard to do so, but as before neighbours will tell on others as you create that climate in a world of fear. Still hard to proof but police only has to catch you twice in one month with different folks at home. If people are going to go this far is hard to tell but some will.

I do think this is going to be worse than a lock down for businesses because of how we had police in civilian clothing check up on things later to be followed by police in uniform to drop in and hand out fines, which are significant as they are in addition to 250 euros for the customer 750 euros for the business owner in addition to if you get caught a couple of times the mayor can shut you down. Pretty sure plenty of places are going to go belly up as people just won't risk it going out, as all it takes is you to leave your table and go talk to people at another table what is fairly common here.

Trump has made it clear that he is betting his election on a vaccine so he can declare victory and get political points. I don't blame anyone for not taking any vaccine from the US considering Trump will do anything to win as evidenced to what he did to the CDC for school openings.

A Vaccine today isn't going to stop the US being a complete shitshow in November.

It's likely to get more rushed and desperate, not less. Americans are still in a "the virus ain't so bad" mode.

Title: 'The whole church has got it, just about': Alabama church revival results in dozens of coronavirus cases

    Excerpts:

More than 40 members of a church in rural Alabama have tested positive for coronavirus after attending a mutli-day revival festival.

The revival included a number of religious services which were held over multiple days last week. The pastor of Warrior Creek Missionary Baptist Church, Daryl Ross, said the virus had impacted nearly the totality of his congregation.

“The whole church has got it, just about,” Mr Ross – who also tested positive for the virus – told AL.com.
OK so far this is pretty standard. They had a multi-day religious revival, which is one of the most efficient ways of assuring full spread of the virus.

The remainder of the article is quite terrifying to me.

The pastor said there are only a few serious cases, and none of the congregants have been hospitalised. Though dismayed that his church body has fallen ill, he maintained that his people knew the risks of the meeting.

“We knew what we were getting into,” he said. “We knew the possibilities.”
    and

“But, my goodness, man, for three days we had one of the old-time revivals. It was unbelievable,” Mr Ross said. “And everybody you ask, if you talk to our church members right now, they’d tell you we’d do it again. It was that good.”
I think the idea is that since most people do not get a very serious case of the virus, there is no need to take actions to protect against it. And football season with it's big beautiful full stadiums is just around the corner.

Can someone tell me why mask rules are so weird. For example if you go watch a movie at the cinema here you have to wear a mask (I support masks so I'm cool with this). The problem is you are only required to wear the mask until you are at your seat then you can take it off.. I get that people want to eat / drink at the movies and since its like the biggest source of income for the cinema it makes sense for them.

Still dont think its smart to put 100 people in a room with no masks on for 2 hours +. People who cant wear masks arent allowed to enter (good rule) but they can use face shields instead of masks (big yikes.. these things are nearly useless).

If I had to guess, they'll limit each theater to 25%ish capacity. Most theaters around here are now stadium seating with reclining seats. So each row is at least 6 feet apart already. Then they'll only allow seating every third seat or so in each row.

Not sure how that plan works... can we hit 200000 dead on Trump’s vaccine bet?

Title: A Small Georgia City Plans to Put Students in Classrooms This Week

    Excerpts:

Back to school starts Friday in at least one district.

As other districts around the state delayed their back-to-school days or moved to all-remote learning, Jefferson school officials announced they were sticking with their Friday start date, one of the earliest in the nation. And while school officials said they would “strongly encourage” masks for students and teachers, they stopped short of making masks mandatory.
The idea that the virus is only for liberals is more ingrained in American thinking than I thought. So for conservatives, spreading the virus is patriotic since it only hurts bad people that want to destroy the country.

An online petition created by two Jefferson High seniors calling for a mandatory mask rule has garnered more than 600 signatures. But a competing petition demanding that masks remain a choice for students has attracted more than 200 signers, some of whom have left comments that underscore the politicized nature of the disagreement. “Only liberals can get rona and I’m not a liberal,” wrote one, using a slang term for the coronavirus. “TRUMP2020 no mask fo me.”
People that get the virus in this county will be able to spread it to more liberal areas - student to parent to coworker.

Jefferson sits northeast of Atlanta and is the seat of semirural Jackson County, which has had 13 coronavirus-related deaths, and an infection rate of 1,067 per 100,000 people. But in nearby Gwinnett County, which has about 12 times as many people, the infection rate is considerably higher and 216 people have died. More broadly, Georgia, in the week ending July 23, has seen an average of 3,287 new cases per day — an increase of 42% from the average two weeks earlier. Many Jefferson residents traditionally commute for work to Atlanta and beyond.

Edit: Mask usage is about a third.

Last week, about 30 incoming freshmen and their parents arrived in the big school auditorium for an introductory session led by the principal, Brian Moore. Normally, the hundreds of incoming freshmen would show up in one session, but because of the virus they had broken into smaller sessions. About a third of them were wearing masks.

He was declaring victory months ago, it doesn't even have to work the vaccine is a prop. He only needs to time it for the election. I gave you the cure covid is over vote for me, I will fix everything. Of course that would only work on the stupid but lots of stupid out there when it comes to the virus.

Why do you think the numbers are now routed to his shills at HHS? Hospitals are already saying the data is not being sent properly. Whatever numbers we have for covid now are most likely padded down significantly. We are most likely past 85k+ a day already.

I wish I disagreed with this. The lower numbers allows the media to talk about the numbers flat lining again, as if we have turned the corner. This allows people to justify keeping football season open, going to church and school without masks, so on and so forth, which oh yeah spreads the virus that much better.

So the lies of the administration leads to behaviors that make the virus worse.

There's real fatigue out there even I am tired of COVID however the virus does not give a shit and people really want to believe those lies so things can go back to normal. It's really hard but people have to accept that things will never really go back to the way it was at least not for a very long time even then some changes will be made.

  17. #17637
    Yeah.

I'm tired of it as well.

We'll be even MORE tired of it at the end of the year. I'm wondering when people will start snapping <even more than they already have>.

I'm as prepared as I can be for the long haul. It's gonna be a bumpy ride

    Seems very likely.
The daily deaths in the US are just shy of 1,000 and you need about 50,000 more to hit that milestone, so it will take about 2 months (so about end of September) - assuming the number of deaths per day don't change - and if anything they seem to be increasing.

I believe they are planning to have a distance between groups on each row here, so not just seating every third (or fourth) seat.

But you have to balance the risk against the quality of the movie, and I don't see any movies worth it the coming month.
