Blood Angel's sometimes have a little spare time from constant war to do their artisan work as they are all artisans in different crafts.

Sanguinius one time spotted a micrometer out of allignement in one of his sons bloodtears on his mask.

There is so much in even the smallest moment of life, so much that humans cannot see. My senses pour down through layers of detail. There is tarnish on the tear drops that sit on the cheeks of Alepheo's mask. There are five droplets. The second droplet is a micron out of alignment. The artisan who made it had been disturbed during the sculpting. The interruption had disrupted his equilibrium. It had taken a heartbeat for him to settle back to his task, but in that time the damage to his work had been done. I can see it in the error, and I can feel the flaw in my heart.

And it bothers him alot lol, must be frustrating as hell noticing every tiny fault in everything and every blood angel are experts in artisan craft so not much fault there but else where it would be annoying.

That would be the same to say that each and every guardsmen or every inquisitor is the same and we would never have a good group with banter and so on...

Just put a space wolf and a dark angel together and see them dissing each other all the time as their chapter have a old feud and everyx time they meet wherever that may be they have a duell first.

So... a Stormtrooper and a psyker seem pretty obvious choices for 2 of the characters. A Sister of Silence could be amazing and would provide an lore explanation how a 4-man group of humans can take care of Chaos infestation, since they mess with the Warp, but then she would clash with the psyker. And lastly... maybe a Callidus assassin?

Eh...I'm not really digging the aesthetic of what appear to be the player characters, they seem excessively generic. I'll hold off on judgement of the game until we actually start seeing more of the game instead of just the teaser trailer.

what we saw in the video are just generic troopers, i believe this concept art gives a better view of what we might be playing as

Games Workshop once again making record profits, they said last year was amazing and the best yet but this is even better.

    https://www.retailgazette.co.uk/blog...es-smash-269m/

And this is not even counting the Indomitus boxes and 9th edition sales.

    The annual report

Very nice thought I could post it here instead of making a new topic.

There are black SM's, there are Mongolian SM's, there are fucking furry SM's, there are blood-drinking SM's, there are shitload of monk SM's, wannabe Romans, tactically tactictal SM's who love tactics, just smash your face in glorious melee combat SM's, damned walking, flaming dead SM's, etc., secretive ones, open ones, borderline heretical and annoyingly codex-like SM's, etc., etc., etc.

Tell me about how that SM chapter is so diverse and full of characters that you could write a compelling story with likeable characters that isn't about purging HERESY with your BROTHERS while screaming FOR THE EMPEROR. Or did you just mention them because they have a dark skin colour - that's hilarious and exactly what I was talking about!

They are flipping, boring as hell, superhumans with (plot) armor that can conquer planets even though they are in the mere thousands.
The SM individual has no character - the lore around the whole faction is about them not having character and about representing unity and blind loyality inside their chapters. They are so holy and loyal, they start weeping tears of blood - and whenever that happens, it's supposedly so meaningful and devastating, that the whole universe should tremble.

Yeah.... no thanks. Not the "Vermin"-tide I know and want.

You can like SMs all you want - I really don't mind. It doesn't change how they are being portrayed as:

Emotionally stunted war machines. They are good if you want to purge some heresy with a flamer or two, they have cool weapons too. But that's about it. Their characters are boring. It's the part were wh-fantasy wins over 40k and that's partly due to how space marines are being handled.
have you read any of the actual books? I mean i've only gone though horus heresy stuff but space marines have a ton of diversity in how they act with in any given legion and them breaking up into chapters would make them get even more diverse not less.

I have yet to see a difference in personality inside a game in the WH40k universe that's about space marines, and I played my fair share of them.
What you are talking about is most likely something completely different. If you read up on every single chapter of them, it's always the same deal too. So they are basically what they are supposed to be. They lack out on being human - which is what defines your personality.

That's why they exist - that's what they have been created for.
If your problem is that they are shown poorly in games shouldn't you be instead arguging for them to better display the diversity they actually have instead of saying said diversity doesn't exist?

Only in the last few months did I "discover" the 40k universe. I did play (poorly) the space hulk game on 3do in the 90s, but didn't check out any lore back then. Now, thanks to YouTube I can listen to some lore videos while I'm at work. So take this fwiw from a Johnny come lately fan.

I hope this is like a less over the top version of doom. Basically where you have to play smart and can't just take on an entire horde of enemies with 1-2 people. Maybe some good jump scares in the dark passages.

I'm fine with being a lesser character in the 40k universe. Though it would be fun if after you play through you could unlock an option to slaughter everything as a grey knight, lol.

Anyway, I'm all about a co op pve shooter I could play with my wife. It would take me out of the immersion if I was constantly being tbagged by 12 year olds.

Or these ones. And I forgot the chapter, but there was one excerpt on 40k lore reddit where brother and sister tries to run from necron invasion, brother gets shot, Astartes arrives, grabs her and leaves brother to die with the implication that she will be taken to what is basically forced breeding camp to pump out potential future recruits.
Papa Guilliman would not be proud.

KrayZ33 is ofc very wrong about space marines as the HH novels show, though much older works were lacking in giving SM charicter without tarnishing the superhuman view.

that said there nothing compared to gaunts ghosts, 13th last chancers books and eisenhorn.

I'm playing for the solid gameplay loop and hats, so the benefits of having Saltzpyre be a 'fully fleshed out' character is pretty small comparatively. Particularly if they're already slow as shit adding characters to Vermintide 2 because of the cost associated with recording new voice lines.
I’d say i feel the opposite way the characters really make vermintide for me and made me really want to get into warhammer which in turn lead me into 40k. While the game play is undoudtly good the banter really pulls it all togather.

I once had saltypire yell “follow I know the way” when playing as him only then to go in the wrong direction and have him yell “who lead ya to this place” Stuff like that really makes he game feel so much better.

Since it is Fatshark, we'll probably be getting 4 - 6 unique characters with a lot of banter and shit-talking and whatever else between them. Not only that, since this is a gunplay game we may actually see a huge variance in gameplay styles compared to Vermintide 1 & 2. I wonder if they'll have more to it than just shooty boys - actually have healing, tanking, and minor aspects like that. Not required, of course, but encouraged and fun to do.

    Been a while since I looked at 40K much, but from the art, it seems we have;

    1) AdMech - the floating skull would indicate that.
    2) Ogryn - the only thing that could be that big and bulky
    3) Imperial Guardsman - probably a Stormtrooper or some other form of elite/veteran/specialist trooper otherwise they are going to feel hopelessly outmatched by their team mates.
    4) Assassin - cloak and what looks like a sniper rifle would indicate that.

They're is neat, but I'd rather have Vampires, Lizardmen, Ogres, ect as possible additions instead.

Plus it feels like Warhammer games with actual RPG elements are rare as hell. There's some on the market, but they're limited and small. Almost every company makes their own OC donut steel and then tells the players to work around it, or gives super sparing customization options like Vermintide 2. It'd be nice to have my own character, or at least choose my own dang regiment/chapter/cabal/warband/ect for once! You'd think games sourced from a hobby that is 1/3rd painting, customizing and collecting would have more options. Alas it seems this mindset died with the Dawn of War series... e.e
Ya I get what you mean even with there being skins hats and different jobs customzion kinda sucks in vermintide and having more hero’s of varying races should be so incredibly nice. With all of the end times to use as a setting they could do so much with hero and mission variety but I have no idea if the game is popular enough or makes enough money to expand to such a scale and keep the high level of quality they have now.

As far as dark tide goes your right it’s a really good opportunity to start from the ground up with customizing as a base though only being imperials kinda hampers that a bit more then the end times unless they just go full heresy and work with elfs and other non chaos forces.

I really really really want to get into warhammer universe but I am so confused as to what order I should play. I love games with a good long lore.
I see that there is warhammer, then warhammer 40k universse, then total war, also vermintide 1 and 2 and then this.

I really cannot understand even after google searches.
Can someone please enlighten me? Where should I start? As I said, i am really into the lore. and got only pc, no consoles. If any of you guys can help me with a play order list, I will be so happy.

I guess it depends on whether or not you are looking start in the Warhammer fantasy or Warhammer 40k. There's some overlap between the two such as the Chaos gods and such so there may have been a time when GW wanted a single universe but for all intents and purposes they are treated as separate entities so it really comes down to your preference of fantasy or science fiction.

The Total War games as well as Vermintide take place in fantasy. I'm not sure about the Total War series but Vermintide takes place during the End Times so you're coming in to it pretty late but not too late since it leads in to the Age of Sigmar which, from my understanding, made a lot of people mad.

Vermintide is, iirc, before the events of Total War.
