Here is the reality. Van Damme throws a variety of low hits at Seagal. After about 5 minutes, Seagal, even at peak physical shape, starts getting tired, and his Aikido goes to shit. Small muscles aren't working very well, and large muscle groups will win the day.

I've actually seen just a match-up. Top-notch Aikido vs Taekwondo master (Taekwondo isn't that serious of a martial art)...the Taekwondo master used that tactic and easily took the Aikido master out. Aikido relies on the precision of small muscles and becomes next to useless under long term fighting conditions.

Second, Judo won vs akaido, this is why early MMA like in UFC was dominated by practioners of Judo, Jui-Juitsu, Wrestling, strikers were treated like bitches...to be a striker in the octagon they had to learn to wrestle, judo etc. so they could defend themselves and only THEN could they do striking.
