Republicans want to fuck with the institution by not letting Obama have a pick 200+ days left in his term but allow Trump with 46.

Then fuck it. Win the Senate and lets bend them over and fix the mess they made/are making

It'll be instigated at the state level. Most likely in a state like Alabama or Mississippi where the Republicans have a high chance of passing the law.

They won't do it at the federal level. It'd be way too hard to pass the law through congress unless they got huge majorities.

Mark this post, quote it, i'd bet every cent I have this is the main reason Biden loses. Low turnout.

Off-topic, but I don't think "low turnout" is going to be an issue this year.

Further, if anything this is MORE incentive for people who want Trump out to vote. The SCOTUS can't rubber-stamp a Trump/GOP agenda if Trump and the GOP aren't in office to propose and pass the laws.

Mind you, we're at our independence day here. I'm totally disheartened. This shit might push me into severe depression again.
But this has taught me a thing. Either there's no god, or there's a god that's tired of humans.

The irony here is that democrats today think the filibuster is a relic of the past and should be eliminated completely and that we should decide things by simple majority. Well, there used to be a filibuster process for confirm SCOTUS appointments. It used to take 60 votes to beat the filibuster. That rule was scrapped. Now its a simple majority. If the filibuster existed, Trump could not fill the seat. But he can since the filibuster was abolished.

    Careful what you wish for.
TO FIX WOW:1. smaller server sizes & server-only LFG awarding satchels, so elite players help others. 2. "helper builds" with loom powers - talent trees so elite players cast buffs on low level players XP gain, HP/mana, regen, damage, etc. 3. "helper ilvl" scoring how much you help others. 4. observer games like in SC to watch/chat (like twitch but with MORE DETAILS & inside the wow UI) 5. guild leagues to compete with rival guilds for progression (with observer mode).6. jackpot world mobs.

The Republicans scrapped the SCotUS filibuster.

That is encouraging i'll admit, and that is a democratic leaning county the article talks about.

I still don't think fear beats out excitement. Not for democrats. Bernie would of pushed obama like turnout and would of had a much better shot than Biden does.

Most people usually say "Well Bernie is too left and too easily attackable by the right". They are literally painting Biden as a socialist, which is bonkers insane. It doesn't matter.

Excitement wins democrat votes/turnout. I will die on this hill.

NO. NO - this is patently FALSE - demonstrably so. We saw that turnout DID NOT INCREASE when Bernie was on the ballot. Not to mention that Bernie lost the primary. If what you claim were true, Bernie would have won the DNC Primary. He did not. It is time to put this lie and false narrative to bed.

You need to stop pushing this literally false narrative. Bernie DOES NOT INCREASE TURNOUT.

Excitement wins democrat votes/turnout. You are mistakenly thinking excitement has to have a positive focus.

Fear beat out excitement in 2016.

What makes you think Democrats are "better than" Republicans in that regards, especially in the realm of "not-as-likely voters?"

We've just never had anything to really fear from the types of Romney and McCain.

CNN headline says that if the GOP fills the Ginsburg vacancy, it will "break American democracy". Sounds like civil war talk.

And imagine the horror should the presidential election result in a dispute, Bush v. Gore-style, that goes to the Supreme Court, with a brand-new justice, confirmed under these circumstances, casting the tiebreaking vote. It's hard to say that American democracy could recover.

The year 2020 has already been difficult enough, with a global pandemic, protests about police brutality and racial injustice, raging fires in the West, massive hurricanes in the South, and a presidential election that has featured lies designed to undermine the legitimacy of our electoral process. Adding a Supreme Court confirmation battle will only add fuel to the fire.

Yeah, what ever will we do when your goal of the Nazis taking over comes to fruition?!?!?!

So, should we just vote for the Nazis, so there's no civil war?

If this is the case then Bernie would have landslide victory in both primaries of 2016 and 2020. He was never close in either.

I'm not a nazi. I don't want civil war. Stop lying.

Personally, I think the civil war has already started. These conflicts taking place in our cities are only going to grow and get more organized.

I've spent my life making accurate predictions by analyzing situations. Very often I get a lot of criticism but I think people that agree with me tend to stay silent. I'm right way more often than I am wrong. I wish I was wrong. But I don't think so. I think civil war is here. Looks like the Ginsburg vacancy fight might be catalyst to make it boil over.

How so? Can you point to any successful "accurate predictions" you can prove objectively? We'll wait....

People stay silent because they just don't give a shit about your predictions. When it comes to opinions on forums, silence is never agreement/consent. EVER. Ironically, this is the first objective thing you're wrong about.

I was originally calling for civil unrest OR civil war if things didn't change a year or so ago. People on this forum routinely mocked me for BOTH calls. Today, even the mainstream media uses the term "civil unrest" routinely to describe the events this year. I haven't been mocked for warning of civil unrest for months now. Now I just say civil war since that one was settled in my favor. I never got credit for that either, they just move the goal posts and say civil war will never happen.

At this point, I'm saying the second civil war has already started. Society just refuses to admit it so far.

    My current predictions are:

    1. Civil war in the immediate future.
    2. Trump is the overwhelming favorite to win the civil war.
    3. This is the end of liberal ideology in the West. Liberalism is about to die. After winning this war, Trump will have a mandate to reshape the media and education system to purge liberal thought. Future generations will be raised under right wing guidelines and be very far to the right of current generations.

If these young people are against trump and stay home during the election this year then they better not start bitching about what's to come if Trump wins.

I don't want to hear any shit about how Biden wasn't left enough, or some made up bullshit.

This might be the most important post depression era election. (or at least most important post WW2). People can't stay home because Biden doesn't pass the purity test. The FPTP system means you have to hold your nose at times..

Does it suck? Yes but it's something that needs to be gamed. The right has played it well for years. But being down 6-3 in the supreme Court, lower courts already packed with Trump republicans and now Q fuckin anon psychos winning primaries for senate rubs made it clear as day.

Anyone right, centre or to the left who hates trump and doesn't vote Democrat (because again fptp means they're the only ones that can beat the trumpublicans) are pretty much guaranteeing that the America they want is going to die because of some bullshit purity test.

The upcoming 6-3 could quite easily be 7-2 or 8-1 if Trump wins. Q-anon in the houses of Congress potentially as well. As someone whose partner is American. The thought about what could happen is scary.

My wife and I were going to be moving back to the States in the upcoming few years so I could help take care of my parents and other older relatives. Now they're telling us to stay where we are because they're afraid we'll be stuck there during a second Trump term. My wife is also getting too scared to move back. Me, I'm just getting angry. They'd better never let me get within punching distance of Trump or McConnell.
