I think potatoes are overrated. They are western rice. I like both. But I think calling them the best is like calling salt the best spice. Staples, workhorses, not the best though.

They might be "western rice" but unlike rice, potatoes actually taste like something on their own. Even if you just throw them into an oven or boil them.
