It's rather simple, this is an attempt to make Trump look strong. "See, I'm fine!!!"
Where he's taking that trip to... and for how long, is still up in the air.
Even if he's checked out, and going home, he still has to contend that his own administration lied about the severity of his illness, like he's been lying about the severity from the beginning. There is nothing mild about being hospitalized for days for an illness.
If he's going somewhere else, for another photo op, then he has no way to try and avoid the campaign trail moving forward, which will be even tougher on him.
I think he's just going to step out to visit with those supporters, to appeal to his base. I bet he wears his mask...

Proof of Life.
Well that, and it's the most action he's going to get for a while. He's certainly not attending any rallies anytime soon. And in the debates his audience can't applaud.
To be more fair than Trump deserves, this is what Trump would do, even if he really was feeling completely fine. This proves nothing either way, except of course, Trump is still a narcissist.
EDIT: Oh, and if it turns out that leaving the hospital and getting his overworked heart racing just to walk a few feet is what kills him, those doctors get the firing squad for allowing this.
This is NK/USSR level shit.

There's no point in giving him immune suppressing steroids unless his immune system has already gone haywire - cytokine storm - because they'd be supressing his immune systems ability to fight the virus without any of the upside of preventing immune system damage to his lungs. But a cytokine storm is an ongoing process. So given who he is they'd be monitoring his immune response pretty closely and giving him steroids towards the earlier part of that process. That means you'd still expect there to be several days of deterioration in his condition after they start administering Dexamethasone to him to limit but not prevent ongoing lung damage. There is a good chance he'll be put on a ventilator or ECMO at some point. But we won't find out until after the fact.
He's already back at Walter Reade...
This was 100% not signed off by any of his doctors.
I'm calling my shot right now:
The narrative pushed though Qanon and the other fucksticks on the internet will be, "Now, he's immune!!!" They will be pushing the "herd immunity" shtick more than ever, and even try and say this makes Trump a better candidate, because he cannot get something that could easily kill Biden over the next few years.
Democrats are the best! I will never ever question a Democrat again. I LOVE the Democrats!
