How will this pc run wow? (First time buyer of gaming pc)

I currently run wow on an early 2016 MacBook Pro hooked up to a monitor. Low settings majority of the time quite choppy in raids and never really get any higher than 15-20 FPS. I’d like to enjoy the game more so looking to buy a budget gaming pc.

I’m looking at the below... I think good value for £550 but I’ve no idea how it would run SL in comparison to my MacBook. I don’t think building a pc would be an option for me FYI so looking for a prebuilt...

Any advice / thoughts would be appreciated!

depending on what you do in WoW, it'll probably run better than your old macbook, but I wouldn't say it'll run "well" with that CPU. You're probably stuck dipping to 20-30 in raids, but at least the GPU will be able to handle settings at like 4-7 or something on 1080p, depending on the scene

I'd look for something with an Intel i5 10400 or AMD R5 3600, and 16gb of RAM instead.

What Temp name is true for running how. You'll want to look to getting a better processor for upcoming expansion if that is what you're aiming for. https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/256565 gives you an idea of where to land in terms of it running smoothly.

Not sure what you guys are trying to say... The i3-10100 is just as good as the i7-6700K (The recommended CPU) in both single and multi thread performance.

It'll be perfectly fine for wow, and unless you're aiming for like 144hz 1440p or something it'll be just fine with the rest. I would try to opt for 16gb of ram though, however.

Except the part where it's slower on baseclock than the 6700k, and has less cache.

Granted I probably was a bit too pessimistic, but still.

please do yourself a favor and wait some more and put some more Money in it. I mean its already about 610€ so another 200 wont hurt ? You will not regret it

and always go with 16gb ram or more

Thank you all for the comments... all really helpful! Looks like i should be looking for a better PCU and some more RAM.

A couple of other options i came across are below... would these be better / worth the difference in cost? If the difference would be that much i can probably stretch my budget to £750

    HP Pavilion TG01-1008na - I5-10400F / GTX 1650 Super - £700
    Dell G5 - 10th Gen i5-10400F / GTX 1660 Super 6GB - £899
    ideaCenter T450 - i5-9400 / GTX 1650 4G - £719.99

    thank you all in advance

Staying in your range of 700-750 budget could only find reviews like this - https://www.amazon.com/HP-Pavilion-C.../dp/B08CWLCNWV

The last choice only has a small storage of 256gb while the first one you pitch has double the amount. Now a days it’s seeming to push people to 1tb - 2tb which can get pricey if you go 500gb hdd and a 1tb ssd. With it only being 1 storage space and planning to put SL which maybe 100gb + apps and OS you’ll be close to having little to no space for anything else. In my opinion only thing really need to do is change to an i5 instead of an i3 and 2 sticks of 8gb ram and SL should run fine.

    im no expert but.
your first choice is similar to what i have, with a slightly better processor according to benchmark pages.
im quiite happy with what i got, it wont run 60+ fps on ultra settings. but itll do just fine on average settings, even when theres alot going on in a boss fight. i dont even like playing with ultra, too much fireworks :P

How much RAM and what kind of storage solution do the HP and Dell have?

Motivate why you'd ever want MORE than 16GB? I had 8 until a few months ago and literally never had any issues.

i3-10100 is also just fine for WoW, I'd be more hesitant about that GPU (isn't 1650 a laptop GPU from last year?) but WoW isn't very GPU intensive so it could be fine too.

    It will.
I believe 2666MHz memory is max for the CPU

But I’d go for i5-10600 with 16GB memory

I have to say after years of struggling with 8GB RAM I strongly recommend going with 16GB. And make sure that the RAM is in dual-channel mode (2x8 for 16GB and 2x4 for 8GB as an example)

    I don't see a reason to go 10600 over a 10400 or 3600

I have a similar build, on the amd side but the benchmarks are very close (ryzen 5 2600/rx 580), and I have 60 fps stable on raid, with max settings. It some time drop to 45-50 for short duration if there is a lot of adds but that it. I agreed for the ram part, 16gb is way better, but still, this build is totaly ok for wow and most games with a bit of flexibility on the graphics options, in 1080p. I just wonder, is that psu even enough for this gpu? Its seems a bit low.

Yeah, the system will probably draw 230-260W so 310W is.. Enough.. Kinda.

Prebuilts tend to skimp on parts they can, so it's probably not a very good unit, but it should be enough, otherwise they wouldn't be able to sell any units

With prebuilds its of course hard, but with AMD having cheaper motherboards I wouldn't be surprised if they might be better for budget. I can safely say the I3 you have in the OP is fine enough, I mean I run wow with a dated 2014 CPU just fine with medium/low settings, I also have A LOT of addons. Anyway only CPU that makes sense is the 3600, cause the 3400g from AMD wont be better for gaming im pretty sure.

But I would defiantly get 16GB of ram, and make sure they aint being a turd and not having it in dual channel Also dont stress about nvme ssd. Just get a decent SSD, thats all you really need.
