That has never stopped them before. I distinctly remember something being the completely opposite precedent for a Supreme Court Justice, and that was just last week.

That said, yes, it makes a big difference. Because the Supreme Court can't just arbitrarily award a state to Trump. They have to actually validate or invalidate a batch of ballots. Right now, it is very unclear exactly what population of ballots the GOP wants to target. Stopping recounts is relatively easy, but Trump's legal team has to actually change the results. That is pretty hard to do.

That’s distinctly different from Biden winning a state, trump contesting it and then trump being awarded it instead. In fact, it’d be, at least from a precedent standpoint, the functional exact opposite of what occurred in 2000.

Correct. It was 2 separate rulings, equal protection 7-2 (not all counties were recounting because of the hanging chads) and the remedy to the problem 5-4 (hand recount all counties would supposedly have taken to long). That's not remotely the situation we're in now.

What happens for Senate majority if both Georgia seats go into a runoff? Does the majority leader change again when that election is decided? I would assume so, but.. can't find anything on the procedures. Is the leader appointed for an entire session?
