Nope, doesn't work like that, because that means Trump would also have gotten votes that would then need to be offset. If Biden won 70% of 10k votes, then the margins would have only closed by 4k. (3k for Trump, 3k for Biden to balance it out, and 4k left for Biden to close the gap).

Apparently that is about exactly what happened though, I just had the wrong initial numbers. The gap only closed by 5,578 votes, with another 11,148 counted. Which is the pace Biden needs, but just barely. This is going to be absurdly close. Probably in the range where a Recount does actually matter, and late mail in ballots likely will as well.

Huh... I suppose I haven't done research in a professional manner yet myself, but I was always told to work around 95%. However my professors did say it does depend as with your example.

Their election coverage has been outstanding. We were going back and forth between CNN and MSNBC and that lasted about 10 minutes. Rachel Maddow and Bryant Gumbel were great - and their Vote Board guy was outstanding with his analysis.

95% is the standard. With the sheer number of votes in Georgia they could hit 95% without issue. However, as that article states, this seems more like a test run with small hundreds as opposed to large hundreds/a thousand.
