The Night Warrior plot is kinda dumb

It's supposed to be a super power boost but first she failed to kill Nathanos or even stop him from raising her fellow sentinels (with Malfurion's help even), and then she killed Nathanos in a one on one... but I feel normal Tyrande could have done that too. Am I missing something? Feels like she should have done a lot more before pulling the "this power will kill you" card.

I'm assuming that Tyrande had to get used to her new power first.
Maybe it's also a power that grows over time, or with rising levels of hatred.

This can be retroactively explained very easily. The Jailer was empowering Nathanos and his Val'kyrs. Sylvanas was not the only toy instrumental to his plan, so it makes sense he'd empower other undead fools. This would explain how Nathanos and the Val'kyrs were able to stand their ground against Tyrande. Remember that the Jailer is very powerful, in fact he was described as a Titan-level creature.

This also explains how Nathanos lost so easily against Tyrande during their second fight. At that point, the Jailer probably thought Nathanos had outlived his usefulness, and thus left him to die.

That's actually a good point about Darnassus though. I forgot that it didn't even exist during Warcraft 3 events. In fact I kinda forgot the entire Night Elf culture is based around the avoidance of congregated city-states and magic. Darnassus would have been the closest thing they've had to a city for 10,000 years.
