the story should really take us to other places than pathetic territorial disputes, as if there will be much left to claim of QT if it's invaded again... the game in general needs to chill with the entire Horde vs Alliance theme, reigniting another war would just be idiotic if anything factions should start loosening... and we should be able to play cross faction, the playerbase is ready for this

seriosly just fuck Alleria and her obsessions, she's been away for too long, doesn't even seem to understand the age she lives in

fuck Genn and Tyrande and Garrosh and Sylvanas and all the other warmongers too, let's explore something else than 'rising tensions amid a larger threat', like let's say the Shadowlands

also, Liadrin and Rommath will definitely not accept Silvermoon going to the Alliance; same as Lor'themar now that he's definitely doing things with Thalyssra
The Alliance gets the Horde's most popular race. The Horde should get the Alliance's most popular race in return. Alteraci Humans for the Horde!

Finally got my Blood Elf Demon Hunter to level 60.
I do want to level my Blood Elf Warlock or Hunter, but I feel like I need to give my Nightborne some love.

Neither the Nightborne nor Thalassian ruling positions are hereditary *eyeroll*

Their child would be pretty awesome to see someday tho, I do support that.

We don't necessarily know that yet. Not regarding Silvermoon's governance anyway (unless I missed something in the new Lor'themar x Thalyssra story). If Lor'themar has children, it could end up being a bit like the Stewardship of Gondor, which turned into a hereditary non-monarchy that was practically a monarchy.

Anglo-Saxon kings were technically chosen by a Witan but it was almost always the king's chosen heir. We could have a coincidental dynasty in Quel'Thalas too.

True, but holding any hereditary office would feel wrong to Lor'themar as a character, both because the whole "Last king of Quel'Thalas" thing with Anasterian so hardly I would see him go on a technicality, nor he seems to have the inclination, since he sees his role as Regent as a burden, I really doubt he'd want to pass that on any children he might have.

It just feels wrong for both BE's as a whole and Lor'themar specifically for his office to be hereditary, so I'm definitely erring on the side of not being hereditary, but either way you are right, it's speculation.

Now, a child of Lor'themar and Thalyssra would be the perfect candidate to hold highest office on a unified Thalassian/Suramarian goverment. Not only because that child would have the highest possible education and would know both their parent's peoples, but they would be probably very beloved by the populace at large if Quel'thalas and Suramar united.

Personally I am all in favor of their child becoming the leader of their united people's, just not on any sort of hereditary nonsense, specially when Thalyssra and Lor'themar hold their positions because they earned the trust and respect of their people for their actions.

Tyrande and Genn are fine, they have solid motivations for their attitude and it would not make sense for them to change it. If they drop their warmorgering, it needs build up, like Jaina got.

On topic, the speculations for Silvermoon being conquered by the Alliance comes from Alleria, who expressed her interest in bringing Quel'thalas back to the Alliance. I guess that best time to attempt to do so is over now, since we've ended faction war with armistice, so there is little reason to go that route for now.

While it may be interesting story, I'd like to see something different for both void and blood elves. First of all, blood elves had to go through tough times to rebuild Silvermoon, it just don't feel right to lose IT like that.

considering that the blood elves were among the first to drop the hostilities in BfA and that they show no interest in participating in any sort of conflict with the alliance i think that such a large scale offensive on them would be absurd

after all who is Alleria and why is she so important? what gives her the right to subjugate her ex-people? she made her offer, she was declined, that's it

i mean let's say she does drag the Alliance into her fascinations and with a joint offensive (velfs are too few to move independently against major cities) she does indeed claim Quel'Thalas, what then? she corrupts the Sunwell with the void and lets her people either embrace a new kind of corruption or wither? i mean if being corrupted is fine they could have sticked with fel corruption and Kael'thas

and what happens to light worshipers? Liadrin and her priests and paladins? the far striders who probably have no interest in losing their connection to nature and growing tentacles? prison? execution? exile?

or the simple people? Lorthemar has managed to keep them safe and protected under very dire times, Alleria was missing in action, why would they accept a violent power seize from one to the other?

and the alliance? perhaps leaving the Horde would be ok for some, but why would they even want to rejoin the alliance that abandoned them?

even Tyrande (probably the most eager character to resume the faction war) seems to be targetting Sylvanas personally rather than horde in general

that arc takes a ridiculous time to develop and it just can't happen, void elves are a tiny part of wow, even blood elves are not that important compares to humans and orcs and there are also stories to tell, we can't just pause our efforts against the jailer to return to quel thalas and allerias fervent dreams of conquest...

As for Alleria... right now, there is nothing indicating she would like to corrupt Sunwell or try to force void corruption on any elf. It was her who triggered the void crisis at Sunwell, but it was also her who stoped it, all other elves present here just did not know what to do. If she wanted corrupt Sunwell, she had perfect chance to do so.

Void elves came to the existence by accident, and Alleria seize that opportunity to help these elves and pave their way to the Alliance. We later learn from them that they were not really fond of Horde to begin with and that they are happy to be part of the Alliance again (Umbric says something like this). There may be more of these alliance sympatizants among blood elves, but I doubt their numbers would be large by now, since most of them would rejoin Alliance already through high elves/void elves... but it could be potential source of new void elves. Even now, we see Silvermoon scholars in Telogrus rift, so I guess it is possible. I just don't think Alleria would try to force her people into void corruption, it is not in line with her character at all.

I also think most of the blood elves who are on the Horde now have much reason to rejoin the Alliance... their history is kind of complicated - elves leaving Alliance several times, decling support during spreading the plague, then humans treated elves with prejudice and racism... it is not that easy. On the other hand, they don't have much reason to stay Horde as well, because obviously Horde failed to assist blood elves in reclaiming their home (Ghostlands are still undead infested) and draw considerable amount of their troops and other specialists to their cause... and I don't really see what exactly Horde has to offer to Quel'thalas now. With increased Alliance activity in northern Eastern Kingdoms, it might be interesting for Silvermoon to improve their relations with their "new neighbours", as they did back in TBC with the Forsaken. It all depends on the fate of Lordaeron... if it will be reclaimed by the Forsaken or by the Alliance...

You are absolutely correct about Lor'themar seeing his regency as a more of a burden than a privilege - a duty - that he would likely not willingly pass on to his children, but sometimes successions have a funny way of coming into being despite previous monarchs' sentiments. He could be outvoted when his children come of age or the decision could be made after his passing.

I'm in no rush to see Lor'themar going anywhere. He's a wonderful racial leader who has always put his people before his own interests, but I would be fascinated to see who would take up the mantle of Regent Lord after his service is done. Would a body like the old Convocations of Silvermoon choose one of their own, or would it pass to the Ranger-Lord or Grand Magister? Presumably, the powerful organisations they represent would have quite differing views on governance, so it would probably have to be someone they and the Blood Knights could all agree on.

why would they possibly join the Alliance? distancing themselves from the Horde makes perfect sense, but why go polar opposite? so if Tyrande or Genn or Alleria in that case do something crazy they're dragged into another stupid war against their former allies?

Alleria is like a 1900 character in 21 century... so much at stake and her 'dream' is to plant a fucking flag, at first with childlike naivenes she thought she could just ask for such a major shift... and now she's rejected violence is the only way left

the blood elves have every reason to stay away from idiotic faction wars, in fact everyone does but not everyone figured that out

as for the history... who gives a shit about it really? the best we can do is get over it, besides so much have happened since WC2 it doesn't matter anymore, it's like referencing Napoleon after WW1 and WW2... well none gives a shit about who was and who wasn't allied back then? yeah, England was allied with Prussia so? does that change the reality of WW1 or WW2 in any way?

i want to see all alliance and horde characters who are eager to resume the faction war get gradually displaced, Alleria is just one of them, and dissolve the fucking factions.

it will be both sad and cheap if they continue to reuse the faction war bullshit as a source of infinately recyclable content

oh and IF they do: this time it's alliance turn to be on the offensive, lightbound Turalyon yet with voidcrazed Alleria on his side, mad dog Genn and vengeful Tyrande, do you really want to see this? because on the Horde there's none left willing to pick a fight, we're talking about Baine's and Lothemars horde, perhaps more docile than it ever was under Thrall, imo it would ruin the alliance

I mean I am pretty much biased against any hereditary form of government, so I hope it doesn't go that way; but Blood Elves and Lor'themar specifically would seem to agree with that. I really don't think why Blood Elves would return to an hereditary ruling system after they have done far better not being that, specially when all their major leaders now occupy their offices because their skills in certain fields.

For Blood Elves specifically? I don't think they would have political parties -I mean they are pretty strict about their ideologies and kinda just exile those who disagree- but it's pretty evident there is ideological differences between the major organizations of Quel'thalas. So while a new convocation would be the way to go in the future, maybe they would like to keep the "Regent-Lord" thing going on, but with candidates from each major organization -Magisters, Farstriders, Blood Knights- and let the people decide.

think of the Commonwealth of England and since oliver cromwell was not king he was lord protector, but he was basically a king by another name and his son richard inherited the position. The name king would not be used, nor would it be called a kingdom, they could have a parliament but the position of lord protector would be hereditary

There isn't really a difference between his regency and Monarchy to be honest, heck he holds more power than the kings of the past, he should just reinstate the convocation of Silvermoon, that way monarchy/regency doesn't hold absolute authority any longer.

Isn't the Reliquary part of that ideal, of the old "Convocation of Silvermoon."
