Overall I really like the leveling/questing experience in Shadowlands but the Maw intro is a goddamn chore.

I don't understand their logic either... it's not consistent with everything else. They'll let us skip the ENTIRE leveling storyline, but they want us to do this Maw intro... which btw is basically the worst type of content to replay: A ton of waiting on RP dialogue and half of it is an escort quest...

    PLEASE LET US SKIPPPPPPPPP
I mean, they probably will. They always have just... often very delayed. Here's to hoping sooner rather than later.

On topic, I love The Maw. It's like going to hell while living, and the introductory story is fun enough I can repeat it 50 times and not get bored. Reminds of of the warlords of Draenor intro.
Once you finish the 4 zones on your main/at least once, you get an option in Oribos on alts called 'Threads of Fate' that lets you level 50-60 non-linearly with world quests/side quests and 'aid <name of zone>' meta-quests that reward huge chunks of XP in any of the 4 SL zones as you see fit. It is honestly REALLY nice, I've been leveling a few alts that way in between working on my hunter's 60 stuff.

100% agreed. Loved leveling (a lot, in fact), but the Maw at cap is not fun IMO.
Appreciate your time with friends and family while they're here. Don't wait until they're gone to tell them what they mean to you.

correct, this has been known since pre patch launch. Sadly people like the person who I quoted only believe in their own logic.

You don't even have to do any of that for Legion. Just turn in the intro quest that has you interacting with a few things/spar with an NPC, don't pick up the following quest, go back to the NPC that gave the first quest, and he'll give you the option to skip.

I can see it getting tedious for multiple alt players but it's also not really long enough to case any issues atm. Take 10 minutes. Might be 10 minutes you want to skip I guess but you're getting XP from it.

I've just put my fifth character through it last night and it definitely takes longer than 10 minutes. Even if you're super fast with murdering stuff -- which might not be the case if you're bringing through an alt you didn't gear last expansion -- the scripted events, walking sections, and all the "listen to someone talk" stuff really drag it out it. It took me over a half hour from start to finish, and I'm using an addon to auto pickup and turn in quests and instantly cancel all cinematics just to speed things up a bit, which many probably aren't. Granted, I was also bringing through a sub-100 ilvl bear with piss poor dps, but I also think the stuff that takes up the most time of the whole intro isn't the killing mobs anyway, it's all the scripted and rp shit that you can't speed up.

I think for most people, it's going to be double or triple that 10 minute time estimation.

    3) World quests - including different ones which offer bonus XP and so on.

    4) Dungeons - They are worth a surprisingly large amount of XP.

    5) Completing these "zone bars" you can get from Tah-whatsit.

    6) Rares and treasures.

About the only way it's actually faster than the normal way of leveling is if you chain dungeons with a short queue (i.e. tank or healer).

Yeah, people say that, but when do you get it? I sure haven't got any going from 50-57.

I'm a person who likes to make lots of alts , just like many who play WoW, and it would make my levelling experience feel much smoother
TBH I'd settle for skipping the seemingly endless exposition dump by Jaina

Its annoying now after taking a few chars through it. Its especially irritating with all the talking and waiting around. No idea why the force us do that part, when we can choose to ignore the storyline once we get out of it.

Maw is annoying enough at max level and should stay at that :P

I've gotten one so far, and it was from the zone-wide completion

Yeah, its a bit tiresome after the first couple alts. Personally I still do the campaign on my alts but I would love to be able to skip that Maw entry scenario.

  14. #74
Yes, they should make it skipable and no, they don't need to compensate for the one level you would get by doing the intro. You can enter the intro at level 48 and it still does only give about 1 level worth of XP. You get more than enough XP through leveling even without the one level you get from the intro. If you start with lvl50 and do the campaign and side quests you'll be lvl60 by the end of Ardenweald. Even if all you do is the campaign you'll be lvl60 before finishing Revendreth. The level requirements for unlocking the next zone are still in the game and your questlog will actually tell you to reach level X to unlock the next chapter. If you start with lvl 48 and could skip the intro you'lll probably need to do all sidequests in Bastion to unlock Maldraxxus and after that you'll be back in the flow where you'll ding lvl60 before finishing the campaign.

As for the intro itself. For me all the RP and talk just drag it out. It takes like 30 minutes to finish it because of all the waiting around.

If I also gained a level, sure. Otherwise no.

Shadowlands has so many good selling points, these two are the lows.

Uhm... you're skipping the story campaign, not the leveling experience. The leveling experience was always what every player made out of it, not a mandatory story campaign like in Shadowlands.
Idk. I have been having fun with these zones. While the Maw can be frustrating, its a nice newer challenge to wow. In about 4 weeks we should have layer 8 and the maw mount.

I think an option to skip should be available for those who wish to do so, but it gives a whole level, so I'm probably doing it everytime :P

Just ran another alt through the Maw opening. Now knowing this scenario like the back of my hand and cranking through it as fast as this particular alt could: 48mins beginning to end and 2% shy of 51. Yeah, given that I am going to do all of the main quest line and plenty of side quests, I'd really like to be able to skip the maw.

I wouldn't even say that's true. You need a group of people who know what they're doing for it to even be faster rather than random dung spam as tank or healer

I could skip the Legion one by just going the Azsuna from the portal room after picking Legion ChromieT.
