So uh this is it? The second coming of gaming jesus, the ultima pinnacle of gaming history?

    Janky combat
    Super buggy
    Poorly optimized
    Useless crafting
    Hilariously imbalanced weapons
The story... oh god the story. It's one cutscene about finger banging your granddaughter away from being a Bernie Sander campaign ad.

    What a dumpster.

I'm running on an old PC on low settings and much of that isn't a thing. Combat seems decent for a non-shooter, the few bugs I've seen are graphical in nature and could be tied to my old machine, crafting is far from useless and the cyberpunk genre has always been about the excesses of hyper-capitalism.

Optimisation I can't comment on, though the size of the game is much smaller than expected, and I haven't run across enough weapons yet to judge if they are imbalanced.

A dumpster? Hardly. It does require some tweaking and bug fixing but it is still a good game.

I'd say it's a solid game with a great atmosphere, voice acting, graphics, sound, a decent storyline. Haven't encountered any bugs in my first 5 hours of gameplay, no performance issues either. Don't know about the hype, I didn't exactly follow the game and its development. It already feels like it was worth my money more than AC Valhalla.

that is good, there is defiantly a good game in here. Night city is quite amazing in scope and detail.

But it needed another 3 months development. The constant delays even after promises of no more delays was a pretty obvious warning sign.

I've watched/read a lot of the game, but I chose not to buy it. Yet.

Recent game releases have really made me switch to a mode of basically waiting 1-2 years with every new title. It gives me games for less money, with more content, better performance, fixed bugs, and possibly even cool mods and tweaks. I lose out on being "in the moment" with the "gaming community" but that honestly doesn't matter much to me. I'm also not really worried about story spoilers and the likes, or at least far less so than with books/movies/shows since there's more to the gaming experience than just the story.

There's more games than I could ever play. I still haven't caught up to some of the titles from years ago. I don't mind waiting a year or two or three for this one.

I agree, + the music is amazing!!! I have encountered a few bugs though, nothing game breaking but have had to do a reload once and some odd glitches.

I got a little over 102 hours into AC:V, I hope I can get that amount in this game, though that might require waiting for them to add ng+ mode in CP77, though this game is set up better for replayability unlike AC:V.

As someone who was hyped about the game without expecting it to cure cancer or whatever, in the few hours that I have played on my mid-spec PC from 4 years ago I am thoroughly enjoying the game and I find it to be well worth the purchase. It's not perfect, but then again I have never played a game and thought it was perfect. My issues are minor so far, while the only bug I have encountered is NPCs striking bizarre poses on the floor after I have killed them. The UI does the job for me, even though 1 thing I would love to be able to do is to modify the crosshair of your guns.

Anyway, as plenty of other people have said, if you were not expecting the second coming of Jesus Christ and your machine can run it well, then it's a thoroughly enjoyable and quite ambitious in some aspects RPG. I look forward to further exploring what it has to offer and also trying different paths and builts

I've played maybe an hour of Witcher 3, which is my total involvement with CDPR. Yeah, I don't fanboi, not after being betrayed by the likes of bioware and Bethesda in the past.

Maybe it's cause I'm not trying to run it on ultra on a machine that can't handle it but I've yet to run into any major bugs in 8 or 9 hours and have had maybe half a dozen minor graphical glitches.

And yes it does need some work, I'm not going to deny, but it isn't as bad as some are trying to make out. At least on PC. PS4 struggles a bit from what I've heard.

That I'd agree on. Some more polish here and there would not have done any harm. But then again, I'm giving the developers some leeway because of the pandemic. I think the game was overhyped. So far, it's still one of the best of 2020 for me, maybe the best, maybe even longer than that, but it is a very solid game well worth the money. That's good enough for me.

So after playing for 10h yesterday, and reaching Act 2 here's my "opinion" plus all the bugs I've encountered so far:

    1) Game is fun but I don't see what all the hype was about. I have over 50h on Assassins Creed Valhalla and the story/setting got me hooked to not stop playing it, but so far Cyberpunk has been ok'ish I guess (?)

    2) Story is super confusing and all over the place. Don't know if it's supposed to be this way, like Dune books where you're thrown into the fray of the action and you gradually understand the story as you play, but so far I'm so lost on the story and I don't feel any attachment to the characters. Like they go "Oh shit it's X" and I'm like "Ok? But who is he?". Don't know if we're supposed to know the story from a book or something that I'm not aware of before playing this.

    3) In terms of bugs I've bound a couple of them so far, no game breaking ones but only "immersion breaking" like

    a) characters all of a sudden turn to ventriloquism and don't move their mouths while speaking,

    b) objects are invisible on cinematics like you see a character leaning on something invisible and then a car materializes out of thin air

    c) changing vehicle camera is glitchy AF. When you have the camera set inside your vehicle you have to press the key to change the camera view more than 5 or 6 times for it to finally change to outside view, and in 90% of the cases,it quickly goes through all the different camera views and goes back to inside the car, as if it got stuck on a loop and starts to cycle all the camera views based on how many times I pressed the camera change button.

    d) Sound is weird AF too. When you're driving and destroy a barrier or hit a car or a pedestrian, there's no sound for it, only the driving sound as if you're still on the road. Also in some cinematics, some sounds don't happen when they should and they all start playing at the same time at the end of the cinematic. How all these bugs that are typical of a very pre-alpha game got to the release version is beyond me.

All in all, game is fun'ish I guess but I don't see the hype about it. You're safer buying AC Valhalla that offers you way more enjoyment for the same price, and more content. Fuck even Shadowlands has more enjoyment!

You don't understand. Having an unpayed full time job that no one appreciates is the magic of classic.

It's about the journey. The journey into depression. The journey of running a daycare full of middle-aged alcoholics ignoring their SOs and avoiding social engagements to fulfill something they wanted 15 years ago before everyone realized it's not hard at all.

doesnt matter because the game has been hyped up for 5+ years and propped up by every mainstream media and journalism, scoring 90+ on metacritic by every journalist gaming review outlet, game will be remebered and praised as one of the best games ever, it was already declared as one of the best games ever before it released

If it wasnt for the review embargo on consoles and if they fixed a lot of issues within the first month of release they could have kept their good guy rep.

But the console review embargo is very damning.

patches on console needs to be certified no? so they can't put in a last second patch because Sony has to sign off on it and that takes time.

Cyberpunk as a setting have always been about corporatism being out of control, the statement of "it isn't far from a Bernie Sanders campaign ad" really doesn't say a whole lot.
