That is an issue - the military certainly would be good training ground for an attempted coup. However, while they might have the training, they don't have the equipment, and they really don't have the numbers. So the most likely scenario is they resist some law or refuse some warrant, and get trapped like a Ruby Ridge/Waco event.

Of course it's possible that they would be organized enough, equipped enough, and motivated (i.e. willing for them and their families to die for the cause) enough to start a coup. Anything is possible.

But the FBI/ATF/DEA/US-Marshals can pull in hundreds of agents to respond, ALL will training, and on the right side of the law. 500 federal agents, with military grade hardware, would be a LOT for any well organized group to defeat.

I'm not sure any group has those numbers, organized, with the right equipment.

When will people learn, you get paid in advance with Trumps or you wont get paid at all.
"Law and Order", lots of places have had that, Russia, North Korea, Saddam's Iraq.
Laws can be made to enforce order of cruelty and brutality.
Equality and Justice, that is how you have peace and a society that benefits all.

Trump did pay in advance (a requirement in this case), it's the WI GOP who is refusing to pay the Counties for their efforts. The GOP are fucking repugnant trolls.

There is a reason these people should have gotten the money up front before the recount ever began.

There are some ex military and cops in these militias but they're mostly untrained gun nuts and survivalist types.

We've discussed this before in this thread, but if a "revolution" of some form happened, it wouldn't be a war. These paramilitary groups don't have the equipment to wage war, and certainly not against the US military, which contrary to what some of these idiots think isn't going to side with them.

The reality is that the militias would become domestic terrorists. That's the way they would operate -- assassinations, shootings, bombings, hostages -- because that would be their only viable strategy. And they would be labeled and treated as such, with the FBI being their primary adversary. And in most cases the feds will be doing raids and making arrests before threats are actually carried out.

The endgame would be akin to WACO, most likely. If military intervention is required it would probably be surgical, to avoid bad press. Use of incendiaries or armed drones on American soil is unlikely, though.

Everyone should be forced to pay in advance, for EVERY recount. Don't care if it is Republican, Democrat, or whatever shitty party the MAGA hatted morons are going to make after Trump is dragged to prison. Considering they are now threatening to tear apart the GOP.

Why didn’t Bill Barr reveal the truth to the public, before the Election, about Hunter Biden. Joe was lying on the debate stage that nothing was wrong, or going on - Press confirmed. Big disadvantage for Republicans at the polls!
Which press confirmed? Confirmed what? Is Trump talking about the investigation he ordered, the one that's had no resolution and found nothing?

Also, did Trump forget he's not running for office? This sounds like the kind of thing he should have said when he was running for office.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhh right. He did. It didn't work.

Trump sure sounds like he wants to fire Barr for not magically creating evidence. I mean, Team Trump were clearly motivated. They found nothing. What else did Barr expect Trump to do?

Life inside the White House since the election has been a daily sweepstakes on who'll get fired first — or at all: Barr, FDA commissioner Steve Hahn or CIA Director Gina Haspel.

Trump was privately venting about Barr on Friday with confidants, including Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), sources familiar with the discussions tell me.

A congressional source familiar with the discussions said it's unclear whether the president will follow through.

The fact that the Journal article was single-sourced made people close to the president suspect, despite not knowing, that it came directly from Barr — or from a sanctioned representative as a way to burnish his reputation with legal peers post-Trump.

A senior White House official said: "It's going to be the longest month."
There is no loyalty, other than to Trump. Barr already won't work in DC for the forseeable future. The only question is how quickly he needs to find a cardboard box or if he's fired by Tweet.

I must admit, it is quite heartening to see Trump's mafia leadership tactics fizzle out in impotent rage in this coup of his. He demands loyalty, but people... important people, that is... have no obligation to listen to him or respect his wishes. If Trump can't fire the problem, he has no way of dealing with it.

Ah, it makes me happy for the next four years, knowing that we wont have to put up with this moron anymore.

Dershowitz: Supreme Court ruling shows 'you can't count on the judiciary' if you're team Trump

“The three justices that President Trump appointed, his three justices, voted not to hear the case,” Dershowitz said during an interview with John Catsimatidis on his radio show on WABC 770 AM. “I think it’s a message to him and his team that you can’t count on the judiciary, you can’t count on the courts,” he said.

Dershowitz, a contributor to The Hill, said the president and his allies needed a “perfect storm” in order to overturn the election results, which includes the help of the courts, state governors and secretaries of State.
Notice he did not say "he needed more votes than Biden" Dershowitz,

shown here connected to his recharger, is a long-time strong ally of Trump and possibly fellow Lolita Express passenger with Trump (thanks @Skroe for that) who basically just admitted it would take a coup for Trump to win. Question: why isn't he trying any of these cases? He's clearly motivated, and qualified. Is Giuliani really doing so well that Dershowitz is watching and saying "yep, he's got this"?

Or, is the fact that this qualified, well-educated yet somehow ally of Trump knows it's over?

The attorney noted that time is running out for the president to pose a successful legal bid to overturn the election results. Dershowitz added that since the courts are unlikely to rule in his favor, Trump’s recourse is state legislatures, which are “very, very unlikely” to help him.

“So I suspect on Monday we will see the electors…elect Joe Biden,” Dershowitz said. “Whether you like that or you don’t like it, that’s the reality that the Trump team has to face.”

“I don’t have proof that men landed on the moon in 1969, because I wasn’t there,” Rep. Doug LaMalfa (R-Calif.) told CNN’s Chris Cuomo on Friday night when asked for proof that there was widespread voter fraud. He added that he won’t accept the results until Jan. 20, when Biden’s hand is on the Bible.
I watched that when it happened. Cuomo is really the only one on CNN I watch, and really the only reason I do is because these nut jobs actually come on the show and say this kinda shit, and watching Cuomo facial expression in live time when they do makes it so worth it. Although I don't think Ted Cruz is gonna come back on after his last exchange with Cuomo.

I mean, they stole the 2016 election through intentional Russian misinformation, then blocking any investigation. That counts for something, namely, them owning the last four years.

This election? Yeah, they're clearly fishing for draft picks.

It will be very interesting to see how Trump will spin the EC voting. If he ends up blasting the EC and turning the populist crowd against it this would've all been worth it. He would be planting a seed that any president would be lucky to have as their legacy. I doubt he would want to sink the GOP like this, but at this point how can you put anything past him. One last chance to win me over. This and pardoning Joe Exotic.

Once again it's time for Gu--

No, it’s not over. We keep going. And we’re going to continue to go forward
Sigh. Yes, that's Trump, yes he's on FOX and Friends.

I don’t know. We’re going to speed it up as much as we can. But you can only go so fast. They give us very little time

We never get a chance to prove it because a judge will say, 'Well, I’m sorry, you don’t have standing.'

But no judge has had the courage, including the Supreme Court. I am so disappointed in them. No judge, including the Supreme Court of the United States, has had the courage to allow it to be heard
Oddly enough, even FOX News asked about proof of widespread voter fraud. Trump said "we've proven it" but of course went no further.

I'm sure he'll lash out at it simply because it's handing him a defeat, but without the EC he would have had practically zero chance of winning, at all.

In fact the whole Trump shitshow thread wouldn't have existed, because without the electoral college we'd have had President Clinton and the concern trolls would be making threads about her choice of pantsuit or the 10,000th thread about the GOP launching more Benghazi investigations while we all go about our day-to-day businesses remembering the coronavirus outbreaks at the start of the year that we buckled down, listened to the scientists on, and got over mid-summer.

Indeed. He lost the popular vote. Twice.

    - - - Updated - - -

FOX News' Chris Wallace vs. House Minority Whip:

“You were talking about disenfranchising the 10 million Biden voters who supported [President-elect Joe Biden] in those four states,” Wallace said on “Fox News Sunday,” referring to the Texas lawsuit that was rejected late Friday.

“Do you feel comfortable throwing out millions of votes of your fellow Americans?” Wallace asked Scalise.

Scalise responded that “nobody wants any votes thrown out.”

“That’s what the lawsuit would have done,” Wallace countered.

Scalise went on to note that the Supreme Court “said Texas didn’t have standing. They didn’t say they were going to address the merits,” speculating the court was unwilling to involve itself in such a politically charged issue.

“You’re not willing to recognize [Biden] as the president-elect, and you’re not willing to stop contesting the election?” Wallace asked, noting that the Electoral College is set to vote Monday.

“Joe Biden has been going through a transition with President Trump supporting him,” Scalise responded. “Let’s let this legal process play itself out.”
That bolded tho. Really demonstrates the hypocrisy and lawlessness.

I like the last bit as well.

“Joe Biden has been going through a transition with President Trump supporting him,” Scalise responded.

Biden is going to be all kinds of grateful, when he hears of this support from Trump, I'm sure.
