That you have no clue how phobias work and berate people with it.

You are literally only here to kick on people and call them childish... Which is childish. Maybe you should overcome your childish behaviour before going after others?

If your phobias are so bad that they are impacting your daily life, hobby and preventing you from enjoying a videogame without photorealistic graphics, you really should seek out cbt or exposure therapy to spiders or w/e is ailing you. This isn't the mark of a healthy person or life.

I am also an arachnophobe but I gotta admit, WoW spiders never got to me. They are just too blocky. That room would weird me out for sure but I would forget it next time I go there.

Spiders in Skyrim and in Bloodborne... those gave me legit nightmares.

Especially bad if you play RPGs where they are one of the most common trope enemies after bears and wolves.
You are welcome, Metzen. I hope you won't fuck up my underground expansion idea.

Do you know their life? You do know that neither of those are guaranteed to work, right? It can help elliviate symptoms. Some can be cured. Some will still have fear for their entire life.

You act as if know the people with phobias. Which you don't. Work on yourself before you judge others.

What do you even gain by kicking people? As I said multiple times you are showing behaviour that's more childish than people who struggle with their phobias.

    Maybe work on yourself.

Overcoming a phobia is very possible. I used to work a seasonal job where very often you would find a spider crawling on the back of your hand or very close to it. I jumped a lot, but at the end I was just giving them the blank stare and shaking them off.

The thing is, you need to expose yourself willingly to the phobia, which is not something everyone is keen on doing. I was not keen either, I was in just for the money. And I was wearing gloves so the fear of them crawling of me was weaker.
Also this practice takes a LOT of constant effort. If I went back today, after months, I would be jumping again like I never lived that experience.

In short, yes, you can fight the phobia, but in order to do so, you have so expose yourself to it constantly. I'd rather get the occasional scare than living a life of terror like that.

If you can't handle peoples' judgement on phobias in a thread literally dedicated to phobias i'm not really sure what to tell you.

I can accept that it's a long and tough journey for most people with crippling phobias to overcome them, however you absolutely should work on them and you should seek help if they are debilitating, for your own sake.

I seem to be handling it perfectly fine if I say so myself. You seem to dig yourself deeper and deeper though as more people call you out on your ignorance.

Please, don't talk about situations and people you know nothing about. You are being very ignorant and judgmental for no reason.

    Which is very childish, btw.

Yes. You generally need psychological help to do that. Definitely do not self-medicate without consulting a professional; you run a serious risk of making it worse.

Phobias aren't "childish" any more than depression or PTSD. You're making it quite obvious you've never dealt with any of these.

A phobia is an irrational fear, the entire point is that you fear it even when you shouldn't.

Many people with phobias play the game with the thing they are afraid of. I played through Subnautica despite my phobia of deep oceans and giant sea creatures.
I had issues going underwater in Super Mario 64 haha! Phobias are so weird. I have the same phobia as you, but I always have to see even though its uncomfortable Sea creatures are so fascinating so gotta see them!

Spiders though, I grab them in my hand and put them outside. But tbh we should keep them inside, they are so important for our ecosystems! Still creepy creatures though ^^

Hint for you : you don't. You sound really triggered that some people find your virtual fears childish...

You are free to be afraid of virtual spider in video games.
But they are also free to find that stupid.

If people are free to judge, which they are. Then others are also free to judge them for their behaviour. But for some reason being called childish is not something the person seemed to enjoy which is ironic since calling people childish is something he/she started.

It goes both ways. Equal treatment you know.

Honestly, everything you said there is absolutely ridiculous. There are literally billions of healthy adults with many different phobias all over the world, are they all "childish"? Some of the greatest people in history have had odd phobias, that doesn't make them childish. Attaching a phobia to the concept of being young is just about as incorrect as you can get.
Your persistence of vision does not come without great sacrifice. Let go of the tangible mass of your mind, it is only an illusion. There is no escape.. For the soul burns on everlasting encapsulated within infinite time. A thousand year journey at the blink of an eye... Humanity is dust..
