Thumbs up Nancy Pelosi Reelected as Speaker of the House

Good news for the most progressive congress. Nancy was reelected as Speaker to lead them for another 2 years.

Thanks for the CARES Act, and fighting for the extra stimulus.

Nancy Pelosi Secures Another Term as Speaker, as Senate Hangs in Balance
The vote, largely along party lines, punctuated an opening day marked more by precaution than pomp, as the 117th Congress convened under the threat of a deadly pandemic.

WASHINGTON — Democrats returned Representative Nancy Pelosi of California to the House speakership on Sunday for what may be her final term, handing a tested leader control of the slimmest majority in almost two decades as Washington prepares for a new Democratic president.

The nearly party-line vote punctuated an opening day marked more by precaution than pomp, as the 117th Congress convened under the threat of a deadly pandemic and awaited a pair of Senate runoffs in Georgia that will determine control of that chamber. Several House members sick with Covid-19 missed the session altogether and others cast their votes from behind a plexiglass enclosure specially constructed in a gallery overlooking the chamber.

Her victory means that after two years as President Trump’s most outspoken antagonist, Ms. Pelosi will now be responsible for trying to shepherd through Congress as much of President-elect Joseph R. Biden Jr.’s agenda as possible.

“Scripture tells us that to everything, there is a season: a time for every purpose under the heavens; a time to build, a time to sow, a time to heal,” she said in a speech after winning the speakership. “Now is certainly a time for our nation to heal. Our most urgent priority will continue to be defeating the coronavirus. And defeat it, we will.”

And she has a chance to become the first woman president as well if they don't confirm Biden as president on the 6th, and they try to stall til past January 20th. Trump and his supporters don't understand that when the 20th comes and they don't confirm and inaugurate Biden, that it doesn't revert back to Trump, it then goes to Pelosi.

Which, while it would be funny if it happened, would be unfortunate because I think Pelosi can do far more good as speaker of the house than as President.

Exactly. And I want the president, who won the fucking election, to be president, and not turn into 1933 Germany with abolishing of our Democratic norms for a fucking fascistic tyrant. Regardless of whether or not I like who is president or not.

    Pelosi as President?
She's smarter than to try for that.

She doesn't have to do anything to become Acting President, though. It just happens automatically if there is no President or Vice President.

Already know...but she couldn't keep it. And she'd know it.

Then she'd be president until Biden became president.

So the real question is whether the republicans want to have to address a "madam president Pelosi" or not, and know that they were responsible for making it happen.

I think that might be the one thing that makes Trump supporters and the GOP angrier than just confirming Biden's presidency. Them waking up and seeing Pelosi as president and, when looking into it, finding out it was because the republican congressmen held up Biden's appointment.

While true, nothing will be delayed about Biden's confirmation. Not past the Jan 6 at least.

Pelosi becoming President, while awesome, would be troublesome overall. She would have to resign her House seat, and therefore her Speakership, and she is VERY effective in that role. We really don't want that to transpire (even if it would be awesome, lol).

America also probly doesn't want the first female president to be so by a default. Kinda take the point of the achivment away really.

Though saying that the first female mp in the UK was a supporter of the nazi party and the first female pm in the UK was a hard core conservative and raganite so you cant always get things how you wish *shrugs*

Thanks Squad for supporting Speaker Pelosi!

Sorry about the Face Eating Leopards and Cosplay LEftists on twitter. Still trying to warn people they're not podcasting in good faith ...

Life comes at you fast. She ran for Congress and does she not know how the process works.

AOC misses an alphabetical roll call ...

Tulsi Gabbard is now the former Representative from Hawaii's 2nd District. One of the few seats Dems flipped from Republicans last year.

    I'm kinda enjoying this

Seeing how much nonsense republicans spout about Pelosi... even republicans not from California... it seems she’s quite successful at “cucking the cons.”

Which is good. Because unlike the GOP politicians who exist to “cuck the libs,” the Democrat politicians that conservatives are terrified of like Pelosi have actual... you know, political goals and causes they serve rather than just the blind partisan outrage of the GOP.

It wouldn't be up to her, as that is literally the line of succession if Republicans try to block Biden from being president.

Republicans are trying to delay the confirmation for "10 days" while they look for non-existent election fraud or checking the ballots they really want to throw out, like the minorities that voted heavily against them.

Pelosi? She absolutely is better than anything the Republicans will EVER put forth. She has passed literally hundreds of bills, that sit idly on McConnell's desk.

Any comparison to republicans is pointless at this point, they're attacking democracy itself. Thing is she's not that popular even with dem voters.

Considering she hasn't had a problem getting re-elected in her district, you are unsurprisingly, wrong.

Her district ain't the whole country. Following your logic, McTurtle is also doing a splendid job.
She opposes single-payer even tho it's very popular with voters, so I don't get this wild fixation with her as the 'hero we need'. She's not the only person that can fight republicans and make witty remarks.
