BFA is Underrated

Few things that I disagree with the OP. I don't think BFA quality was that high at all, it had quantity (probably the most content out of every expansion) but it lacked on the quality. Looking at their new features for example like island expeditions and warfronts which both turned into mindless zergfests. Sure the zones and art are all well done but thats something that their team has never failed on.

WoD had the opposite problem. It had much better quality content (imo) but much less quantity. It had some amazing raids, brought us much wanted character updates and the garrison wouldn't have turned into such a bad feature if only it received the updates it needed. They gave us an entire major patch just to give it a music box... like come on.

Personally I find BFA only better than Cata and WoD which makes it a below average expansion. Shadowlands could turn out worse. What carried this expansion the most is the leveling experience which for most part was unique for Alliance & Horde, telling good stories with proper pacing. I only hated the feeling of getting weaker with each level.

The only good thing about BfA was Drustvar and that even had a mountain dropped in the middle of it. It's better than WoD slightly but is nowhere underrated.

I thought the zones and questing experience was great but I didn't like their end game progression systems. I was really against azerite gear from the beginning.

How is azerite different from AP though?
For me WoD remains #1 worst expansion with Cataclysm coming right after.

While i think BFA is one of the most neutral, not bad, not good expansions.

It is a REALLY good expansion.

WOD was the only expansion I completely regret purchasing. BFA had a lot of memorable highlights and a very high production quality (around 30 minutes of high res cinematics, hot damn) but also a lot of failed new ideas and an unsatisfying ending.

WoD and Cata were still worse than BfA in my opinion. I said it then and I say it now. Not saying BfA was great the last patch bombed in my eyes, in ever aspect and felt rushed, the lore felt like it was inconsistent and too much damn Sylvanas.

But outside of that I still had a lot of fun. Nothiong wrong with being the 3rd worst expansion in my eyes :P

I do think time will be kinder to BfA, remember when MoP was considered the worst expansion to he majority? Now its one of the most beloved. :P

For example many zones like Drustvar, Tiragarde Sound and Zul'Dazar are the best Blizzard has ever made.

For me WoD was a bad expansion.

??? If we judge by levelling zones, WOD had one of the best designs of levelling process and the zones itself were beautiful and had good visual variety. Tbh zone design is good in every expansion ever. Questing experience not always.

There's a reason why after stat squish and Chromie time it's still the most efficient to level in WOD zones out of all xpacs.

BFA was great. The only thing that was terrible was the power system, the additional content systems, class mechanics, the lore and story, and PvP. Oh and TF and benthic gear and Azerite drops, of course.

But yeah other than that, great!

Bfa felt like a occupational therapy while Shadowlands feels like a game again (even though not perfect of course.)

But then again it all comes down on how you play, for me as a heroic/few bosses into mythic raider usually Bfa really felt like shit, boring unrewarding grinds and systems.

Now i can raidlog and put one additional evening in for the weekly stuff to hold your charakter up to date.

The individual assets are quite well done. The raids were interesting and decently designed. Each story element on its own seemed interesting and had promise.

The problem is that when you combine all of them, you get a shit sandwich of incoherent nonsense being mashed together. Like a fruitcake. BFA is the fruitcake of WoW expansions.
Add into that the disgusting lack of balancing attempts throughout the life of the expansion (s2-4 had almost the same exact meta because they didn't fix anything. OP shit was OP the whole time, others were left in the dumpster to rot) and yeah, you had an undercooked fruitcake. Gross.
