The worst realization I had yesterday wasn't that American terrorists were storming congress in an attempt to overthrow the government at the behest of the goddamn President, but that 1/3rd of Americans were okay with it. Anyway, I got sooooooooooooo much joy from the news today. First is Congress certified Joe Biden's win and he will be our president on January 20, 2021. Other news is Trump finally acknowledged HE LOST!!! Next is Facebook, Instagram, and Twitch INDEFINITELY banned Trump for their platforms. I didn't even know Trump had a Twitch channel but apparently he used it to host virtual streaming of his rallies on the platform meant for gaming LMFAO. Though Trump's ban on Twitter is over, they have announced that they will follow through with an INDEFINITE ban if he fails to abide by their rules again. And lastly, Nancy Pelosi and Mitch McConnell have called on Mike Pence to invoke the 25th Amendment immediately or Congress will move forward with impeachment proceedings immediately. All you Trumplicans who swore that another Civil War was brewing failed to show you could do it as of yesterday. All your talks of being heavily armed and bragging about your combat/shooting abilities and how you'd overthrow the government ran like bitches once a few cops pulled their weapons out. The few of you who did make it into the Capital Building were arrested and will probably be looking at 20 years in federal prison because of your actions. The other thing your little mock insurrection did was UNITED the nation and Congress to working to throw out Trump. Instead of dividing the nation and forcing your will on the nation, you UNITED the USA.

I just read back through the early pages of this thread and... wow.

Congress has been ordered to shelter in place in the nearest office. They are trapped and that mob will find them.

Protester stands at front of Capitol Chamber and shouts that Trump won the election. No sign of any members of congress taken prisoner yet.

Of the scenarios I went over as possible version of insurrection and rebellion, it looks like the US has now chosen some form of the French Revolution. I expect the protesters will arrest members of congress they find, force them to admit Trump won camera, then kill them. And if they can't find any of them, they will probably just declare themselves the new congress and go from there.

If they try to discipline Trump over this and remove him from office, there will be widespread revolt across the nation.

There is clear video of Pennsylvania Avenue absolutely flooded with protesters as far as the eye can see. That was EASILY tens of thousands of protesters. Might have been 100k there.

I truly found it amazing that the Fox News coverage of this event wasn't pure celebration. This is what they wanted. They claim these people have distrust in the election... yeah I WONDER WHY. Twitter had Candace Owens trending today so I clicked the link and it seems a large amount of ONLINE Trump supporters would love to see her run for President in 2024. The woman who said Hitler had good ideas. There was a video from yesterday before the chaos of an Illinois Republican quoting Hitler in her MAGA speech. There were rioters wearing clothing saying Not enough Jews died in the Holocaust. Like MAYBE JUST FUCKING MAYBE if a grifter/politician admires Hitler FUCKING turn on them? There's plenty of grifters willing to take their place.

What upsets me the most in all this was after the marvelous victories in Georgia on Tuesday night I was owed a full day of coverage of MAGA tears on Fox News crying about what happened, but these fucking loser rioters stole that from me. Tuesday afternoon and for weeks before the run offs they were SO FUCKING COCKY about how Republicans were going to win. And now nothing. No self-reflection, no blaming illegal voters, no blaming ballots coming in after stations closed, NOTHING. All we got was a bunch of blah blah blah violence is bad, BUT... MSM, Antifa, BLM, etc etc... Fucking sickening and of course predictable. There was a New Years day show of The Five on Fox News were token liberal Juan Williams read off his 2020 prediction which was Trump would lose, fail to concede, call the thing a hoax and it would lead to a constitutional crisis. He read this while his four fucking jack ass co-hosts sat there with smug looks on their face knowing just well that Juan was not a psychic. They spent many episodes mocking Bill Maher for saying almost the exact same thing for years as well as anyone who would dare predicting what we ALL KNEW would happen.

So, I don't put the full blame on the people rioting, sure personal responsibility and all, but if they are the only ones punished for this event then nothing will change. The whole current conservative movement mainly stemming from the RW media needs a clean sweeping and changing. They need to be brought back into reality and unfortunately that probably won't happen without some sort of legislative action. There's just too many grifters and too much money to be made off conning the rubes. You can try to explain that Tucker Carlson, born a multi-millionaire, who has NOTHING in common with the working class, who does not care for the working class and who's sole purpose is to protect the wealthy elite is conning them, but they won't listen because grifter Dave Rubin or grifter Ben Shapiro backs up Tucker, so if Tucker is a liar that also makes Dave and Ben liars and the whole thing would fall apart.

Anyways, I guess now that Trump has conceded the tables have begun to turn on Trump and Trumpism. It's just a matter of time before Fox News claims Trump was a liberal democrat the whole time and his cabinet were swamp creatures and global elitists. We've already seen RW media foaming at the mouth to start banging the drums of war against China. RW polling firms have put out data that shows blaming China is very popular among the base, it's the new illegal Mexicans. In November, Laura Ingraham ran a segment about all the ways China will take advantage of Joe Biden by basically naming every one of Trump's failed China effots, south china sea, trade deficit, hong kong freedom, etc... So get ready Right Wingers, you may not know it yet, but by 2024 you're going to be ready and willing to go to war with China and if you aren't, Tucker will call you an unpatriotic communist!

We'll see I guess it all comes down to how the Democrats govern. I think they should for sure add new states and Senators, stack the supreme court, change election laws to make voting easier and pass massive covid payments. And I guess that will ultimately determine where politics in this country will go. Farmers will keep taking their government bailouts while voting Republican crying "socialism!" and young Republicans will continue to claim the Democrats are the party of wall street despite Bush's bank bailout and Trump's Wall street bailout. So who knows what will matter at least in terms of trying to reach across the aisle for new voters, but if Dems don't do things for the people they will lose supporters who may just sit out voting during Bidens tenure.

A U.S. Capitol Police officer has died following injuries suffered in the violent siege on the building Wednesday, according to a press release from the department.

The death is the fifth connected to the riots, which saw swarms of pro-Donald Trump protesters overwhelm police barricades, surge into the Capitol and force lawmakers to go into hiding.

The US Capitol Police aren't a normal police force. They're a federal law enforcement agency that reports directly to Congress, whose primary charge is protecting the member and staff of Congress, and the federal buildings of the capitol.
