Watched the first episode of the Spider Isekai. Enjoyed it. The implementation of 3D CGI - while still inferior to 2D animation - is better than most implementations in anime I've seen.

The blue caped prince with the pet on his shoulder is cool. I like talking/magic pets in fiction. They automatically improve a work for me. If every anime had them my overall enjoyment of anime would be higher.

I kept yelling at the Spider girl for her to get out of that cave ASAP, and to stick to the ceiling, before she gets cannibalized or eaten by a larger predator or cut up by adventurers. I don't know how small she is - I think she is very tiny - if she is that small then she has a good chance of remaining undetected. She needs to find a human restaurant or a butcher's shop and start setting up spiderwebs there to catch flies and maggots to eat. The real problem is that once she eats enough, she will become very large and very noticeable, which will mean she will probably get killed by a hawk or a human. By that time she needs to have met up with her classmates and gain their protection, or she will die.


I also began watching Clannad. I've seen several funny clips of After Story on Youtube before but this is my first time watching the show. The art and animation and overall production quality - while not mindblowing - is higher than almost any show that came out within the last 10 years. Seriously, the show looks and animates nicely.

Lol every girl in the show acts like a 6 year old.

So far there has only been one moment of melodrama/crying anime stupidity (when he runs out to the school and finds her standing in the rain, and then he tries throwing the basketball and then says he injured his arm, and the she's like "YOU INJURED YOUR ARM?" and then begins sobbing and faints and sad music is playing and it's overdramatic, bleh) but overall it's better than I expected. I'm dreading that it's going to go fullblown bait/crying anime later. The bro is going to get up with the hallway girl, isn't he?

I feel bad for the dad. Obviously life didn't turn out the way he expected, but he still only wants what's best for his son, and then his son is going through his rebellious phase. Sad.

Nobody should check this out. It's the most disturbingly awful looking anime I've seen in years. Literal garbage.

Spider isekai was actually very good (minus a bit too much CG). Maybe he's right on this occasion?

IIRC there was a web or light novel with the premise being that isekai heroes, having completed their quests, return to Earth and bring with them their magical artifacts and superpowers they acquired, and proceed to disrupt the balance of power in our world. I can't remember if it got an anime adaptation or not.

This. It's come to the point where even parodies of isekai are way too common, but Re:Zero is the exception to the rule. Mostly because it isn't parody, but satire. And not JUST of isekei, but of otaku culture in general. It's the Evangellion of our generation.

Possibly. Although it hits its peak at episode 8, if you have to get 8 episodes into it first it still might not be for you. It's kind of an 'artsy' show, though. Pretty deep and introspective about the media and the kind of people that consume it. If that isn't your thing, I don't blame you for not liking it.

I watched it since it looks similar to RUBY, but it does at least have a good story to start with. Also 3d animation is pretty smooth compared to it.

It certainly isn't a bad isekai, though.

That's what I am thinking. Or at least I just have not been in the mood for that type of anime lately. I mean, I do love Eva and Madoka Magica but not sure I really want to watch either again. These days I turn to anime mostly for two things; comfy, feel good series and fun, over the top shounen action. A series where I see the word "suffering" used to describe it all the time probably just isn't in my interest right now. I get enough of that in the real world.
