Sen. Cotton is arguing that the Senate lacks the authority, which is just a way to vote "No" while claiming to be a member of the Party of Law and Order. Yes, he's leaving out the part where his party conveniently chooses to let the deadline pass, then stand by clutching their pearls. "If only something could be done," he'll say, "oh woe is me, oh woe, alas, alackaday."

Indeed, as we've discussed. Nobody here expected honesty or ethics from a Trump supporter, did they?

It’ll get brought up in the trial. The Democrats aren’t mugs. They know their shit. What they get caught up in is GOP corruption. Let’s see how it goes. If McConnell can somehow whip up 17 votes to convict, it’ll be an achievement. Hell, he needs it or he loses the party to Trump. Cotton doesn’t care.

You guys really need to split your country down the middle, it's like North Korea and South Korea trying to run the same country.

I mean it could be worse. I’m in the U.K. and we’ve basically got 3 parties that are all shit. Somehow the most shit one always wins.

Also Pornhub, I mean people use it to stream TV and movies, so I'm surprised he hasn't gone that route yet.

To be honest I'll take our shit lot over what's happened in America over the last year.

Oh and who's the third party? The Lib Dems are not back from being furloughed are they?

Did Trump make promises that weren't kept?

    "...yes."

Then he gets to own things not living up to his promises.

Besides the whole "state charges" angle, it's worth noting that lots could happen to Giuliani that pardons don't apply to. Losing his license, for example. Or being ridiculed indefinitely.
Its operation no gellar fields warp speed my dude. Sometimes you arrive on time, sometimes you take centuries to reach your destination. Sometimes you get lost in the warp.

And sometimes you drag an orange formless blob out of the warp with you, a demon rejected by all four Chaos Gods at the same time. He was to crazy for Khorne, to weird for Slaanesh, to rancid and disgusting for Nurgle and Tzeentch wouldn't have him because Trump couldn't even use the best laid plan or scheme to achieve anything.

Trump is being impeached a second time.

I don't see how he ISN'T the worst president ever at this point.

Honestly, I would go with most failed president as that is all he did, fail. He failed at getting the wall built, he failed at stopping illegal immigration, he failed at controlling COVID, he failed at multiple marriages, failed at getting healthcare passed, etc.

So I went looking for lists of Presidents ranked in order, that took place in the year 2019 to take COVID off the radar. In other words, I was giving Trump a yuge handicap, which I imagine is what golfing with him is like.

Some places refused to rank Trump as he hadn't completed his first term yet.

The Siena College Research Institute is not so lenient, waiting only a year. And they're a big enough name to be cited by major sources. In 2018 they put Trump third worst in history, behind only Andrew Johnson and Buchanan. And before people shrill "RIGGED" into their deleted Twitter channel, the top five were Washington, Lincoln, Jefferson, and both Roosevalts. Obama wasn't in the top 10.

The Presidential Greatness Survey is done with the help of 179 expert historians and apparently run by Cambridge University. And in 2018 Trump came in dead last. And again, before people shrill "RIGGED" into their wire taped microwave, their top five was also Washington, Lincoln, Jefferson, and both Roosevelts. But at least Obama was in 8th.

Again, both of these were done before COVID was welcomed into the country with open arms and tiny hands. This was also before NK talks fell apart; Trump blackmailed Ukraine, got caught, got impeached, then used that info against a political opponent; attacked democracy directly by refusing to accept the results of a legal and honest election, plus the hilarity of his lawyers introducing conspiracy theories under oath; and the lineup of pardons for his friends and, in true swamp dweller fashion, himself.

"Okay but you're comparing Trump to Founding Fathers! Nobody's going to break that top list. How about a comparison of Presidents since TV was invented? Nothing will help Trump's numbers more than ruling out everyone who was actually good plus lowering attention spans."

Trump's losing to literally everyone and you want to make the list...shorter. Okay.

If you want something more recent, Northwestern University "only" used 113 experts and "only" since WWII. Also their focus was mostly on diversity. They asked their experts to rate the 14 "modern" Presidents by a 0-100 scale. Trump came in dead last with an 11. Nixon and W both tripled up on Trump. Obama got a 77.

Do not expect Trump's position to get any better on any of these lists. Even halfway through his only term, qualified professional experts said he was one of the worst, if not the worst, the country has ever had.

    So as--

"Wait a minute, what do those guys know? All they have are years of research and degrees! That makes them librul elites!"

...you do know Trump ran a school--

"Bubububububbuh! What we need is what the common man thinks. Trump really showed the average American worker how much he valued them! Now we'll see Trump's true greatness!"

    ...you sure?

    "Get on with it!"

Okay. Same rules, in 2018 Quinnipac asked people to rate the best/worst Presidents since WWII, since, you know, the average American might not remember in detail why Buchanan is held in such ill regard.

In the "Best" list, Trump came in 5th, with 7% of those polled saying he was the best ever.

    "Yeah! MAGA!"

Obama took second, with 24%. But they also asked for the worst and --

    "Oh, shit."

Yeah, Trump came in first with 41% of that vote. In fact, if you do "best minus worst" for all--

    "Please don't."

Trump comes out the worst in that comparison, too.

So if you're asking "I don't see how he ISN'T the worst president ever at this point" fear not. Hundreds of experts and the American public all agree with you, in record-setting numbers. Oh, and just you wait till the next lists come out with Trump either being added for the first time (C-Span) or not, but with COVID and the murderous insurrection on the list. Plus crippling debt, the failure of the trade war, vetoing military pay, canceling Firefly, etc.

Teddy Roosevelt is far and away my favorite president. I have said this before on this forum but if Teddy Roosevelt was brought back to life I am almost positive he would roll up his sleeves and spend the next couple of days working his way through Congress kicking the ever loving crap out of every Republican there until he made it to the White House to personally kick fat ass Donny out of the White House.

A counter loophole is that the impeachment started while he was still in office.
