Why is no one mad about workers rights?

Lately, you see all of these protests for all of these things, but the one thing you never see here in the US is any type of protest or even any discussions about workers rights. I mean, realistically, we don't really have any. Sure, there are laws and regulations, but no one follows them. After all, why should they? No ones going to call them out. Their employees are kept at the poverty line. They can't afford to call them out. Worst case scenario, the job gets shut down and now you and your coworkers are all homeless.

Why don't we see anyone angry about this? Its never talked about on any broad scale, yet we all can name instances of safety violations or discrimination practices. Heck, my last job was Highly discriminatory about who they hired. They also broke several laws, including putting classes in their contract prohibiting their employees from talking about their wages.

I believe its seriously time we start talking about these things. We all joke about how when someone does something dangerous "OSHA Intensifies", yet realistically, osha isn't even a threat. Its a joke. So to are health inspections at a restaurant. We need to talk about this as a worker and as a consumer.

Because Americans are raised and conditioned to believe in the American dream, and that one day YOU can become the boss and order all you want over your slav...sorry, employees. Also, corporations are good guys and only wants what's best for you.

The biggest joke of all is at-will employments. Zero worker protections and the employees are at the mercy of the employer not waking up on the wrong side and deciding to fire someone for stupid reasons, and the only benefit the employee has from that system is that they have the right to walk out on the day instead of having to work 2-3 more months to give the employer time to find a replacement. I know some states don't have this system, but many do and it's repulsing how easy it is to fire someone in the U.S. Over here, if you want to fire someone you basically either have to 1) run out of things for the employee to do, 2) The employee has to actively sabotage for the workplace or 3) The employee has to actively refuse to work. And even then you have to first give out a verbal, and then if the employee doesn't listen a written, warning before you can fire them for 2) and 3).

The U.S is the land of the employer, not the employee.

Correct me if I am wrong but I think workers generally have more rights today than they have ever had in history. Now that's not an argument to say that we couldn't be doing more but I think a lot of people would prioritize other things.

ye especially those who work in US in diners/restuarants who have to beg for tips because their employers refuse to pay them fairly for their work

Aren't they discussing upping the minimum wage to 15 dollars? Check out how people react to that. That's why your workers don't have rights.

You just elected a guy who takes backhanders from Wall St and corporations, who took over from the orange guy who takes backhanders from Wall St and corporations, who replaced the black guy who took backhanders from Wall St and corporations. So since Wall St and corporations run everything, workers rights only ever suffer.

Any time any one starts talking about this stuff then someone brings up identity politics and yells at each other for hours and the political elite just carries on fleecing everybody. Any one who suggests that the problem MIGHT be systemic rather than down to the activities of one person gets shouted down by partisan supporters of one or other main parties.

The solution is to stop focusing on manufactured outrage and personal hatred, and try and reform the system. Bur you have someone like Edge on every political forum posting "Trump is bad" tweets literally 24/7, and it is very difficult to change that narrative.

At some point people intelligent, motivated people stop trying to change the system because the main barrier to that is this vast lump of dumb working class people on both sides screaming at them on behalf of some neo-liberal fraudster that secretly despises them. It is probably too late to do anything about it now anyway because automation will ethnically cleanse the working class anyway. They only have themselves to blame in the main.

Your inability to understand a simple and clearly expressed series of statements is your problem, not mine.

Workers rights? pffff I want my freedumz so the wallstreet can have their human sacrifices, during this FAKE NEWS pandemic!!!! Nobody will tell me that I will do with my body, cause my rights are whatever my republican party which is now just my trump god and my REAL news tells me they are. I want my 8 dollars an hour cause if i get 15 than them dirty libs in those blue states get 15 dollars, and libs are socialist commie devils, just look at all that crime, they burned their entire cities down this summer!!! So to stick it to the dem's, 8 bucks it is!!! But with my 8 dollars, I'll become a billionaire so better not ever tax them! And nobody will convince me differently, because I'm proud to be ignorant while sitting on my lazy boy in my trailer or sitting on my computer in mom's basement or somewhere in europe making my 500th account cause my IQ is lower than my god Trump.

BTW why we talking about this, it's all the Dem's fault anyways, like the GoP aren't even a thing, as a proud righty, I put all the responsibility for dems to fix everything, but the DNC are bad, so we have to fight them at every turn and show how bad they are all so I can come across feeling superior then DNC stans.

And no I've never been a trump supporter, stop shaming me!! My eternal victimhood!!!

Damn my IQ is smaller than Trumps so just gonna argue both sides!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously though, I fully support most unions, with exceptions, like police unions.

This is a perfect example of what I was talking about. Get rid of Trump, an admittedly loathsome human being, and somehow you've "won" and workers are all going to be protected now. Any kind of anger or energy is dissipated in partisanship.

Biden will do nothing for workers. Wall St is his backer. Nothing will change.

America used to have a big thing for it. That’s where get got a lot of our current laws.

We also used to have communist and socialist parties that were behind the push. Then you had the USA arresting people... propagandising... couple coups here couple destabilisations there. Followed by more red scare.

Now you have brainwashed Americans who think socialism is when only the government tells you you can only have one type of cereal and that not having variety is bad.

Never mind they look upon 25 cereals all owned by one company and have about as much choice as the socialist in their fantasies do.

If peel back the grimly layer of all of the Trump news, you can see it.

There have been a lot of pushes and moves to do better by our work force. From anti-discrimination, to fair pay, to required time off. And quite importantly, Health Care for all. There was a lot of discussion, and movement happening before the boiling Trump pot began to overflow.

Hopefully with the Biden administration, we can get back to that movement.

Disinformation, propaganda, and class division make it less mainstream and visible. Though almost all left-leaning political movements have a toe in the worker's rights pool.

That's strange you think it's not discussed, because conflict theory has existed for hundreds of years and is still a major topic discussed in Sociology.

    Yeah well Superman's not coming.

As for the rest of us we are doing everything we can. Whenever there is real need help always seems to far away or like it will never make it there it time. It also feels defeating to tell those who cry for help just hold on we're coming.

No ones pain is unimportant, there is just a whole lot of it, and unfortunately not enough people helping.
