Exploration and "sense of wonderZZzz" idea

What if certain epic quest chain objectives and locations got randomized using a new RNG method where things you need to search for are no longer found in a fixed spot, dropping from the same mob....etc? Even if you had flying, you'd still be spending countless hours searching. What thinks the internet? The whole world can be made useful somehow and since it is time consuming, the rewards from the open world can finally be decent.

Game does not need any more RNG whatsoever imo, so no. Especially with the terrible layout of SL zones.

It's not clear whether you mean having to spend hours hunting for the exact quillboar that has the murloc anal gland I need, or if you mean youll be told "Go to <insert random zone> and kill <random enemy type>".

People would BITCH soooooo much when even one person has a slightly better/faster outcome than another. This would set this forum on fire. Hardcore and casuals alike.
Too easy. Too hard. Too long. Too short.

You essential create a questchain than can potnetially include evrything people complain about here.

Open world rewards are decent enough for the difficulty. But hard to get transmogs would be fun, but would create the same problems. You cannot include hard to get stuff in modern warcraft. People don't like to do it. The second there is a wall you can climb only after a few tries it is over and the worst thing implemented since TF and WF

Terrible idea. You spend countless hours finding something others found within 5 minutes, because this is the nature of rng. The only reason this could work is if the rewards are simply fluff, since you can't have anything important locked behind something this random, and if the rewards are meaningless, no one wanna do it

they have done that, but players found ways to game it and found all the possible solutions and catagorized them.

you cannot have "hidden find the thing" with the internet existing anymore.

All that would happen is it (the mob you need) would get posted to wowhead daily where you needed to go and what you needed to do or in the group finder so you could phase directly to where you need to go.

If you mean its truly random to the player and you could get, as someone else mentioned, the murloc anal gland from literally any random thing then no, thats an even worse idea. Some people might get it from killing a critter and some may never find it because its actually rng.

this game has never forced player exploration. as soon as it came out there was nothing much to explore in the way of getting things done there just wasnt a dot on your map walking you through each quest. eventually came the websites like thottbot and then came the addons no exploration has ever been a required part of the game

The fact that you could go look up the locations of things doesnt change that exploration was required. That's like saying that knowledge isn't required for trivia because you can look up the answers.

The only way for me to find a sense of wonder during exploration these days is to have the freedom of flying. Otherwise my time spent in zones is spent avoiding mobs, looking for roads, elevators and rushing to where I need to be.

Can't wait for 9.1 and finally getting to take in the wonder of Revendreth proper.

Oh, and your ideas are horrible. Not much surprise there.

    Sounds bad.

I'm down with some procedural content, but not RNG discovery. There's a reason the likes of Thottbot took off, and that's because nobody likes obscure bullshit. It's not fun.

There's too much RNG in WoW as it is. There's not enough agency.

I want guaranteed rewards from doing some content. How about a quest to get you a better item (prioritise your lowest items)? That quest could be tailored just for you (and give a choice of things that are upgrades for you), but can involve some group content along the way. Do a Torghast at 6 or above, a M+5, kill 3 heroic raid bosses, etc. Make higher ilvl rewards need harder stuff. The important thing is you get told what the reward is before you waste your time doing it.
