Mafia 130: Crossbell Reindependence Day

I don’t really trust your claim Clari. A vengeful townie should be trying to bait scum to lynch them - and you have been entirely too passive for that. That said, my vote will be on Crackle today. That role block and missing kill makes me highly suspicious he’s the SK.

I'm thinking along the same lines. It doesn't help that Xanjori was killed with a gun...

It really does seem to come down to either Crackleslap or Clarinet for this particular day phase.

With the harbor district secured, the Resistance slowly began pushing towards Station Square.

Central Square remained in a bitter stalemate, but as orders from the highers up came less intermittently, and were less coherent - and as reinforcements and supplies trickled in less in less - they suspected that this might be their end.

Finally, realizing that the fight over Central was futile, one man in black took charge.

"Fall back!" he stood up and motioned with his arms, hoping to make sense over the gunfire. "Fall back to Orchis Tower!"

A couple seconds later, he was shot in the chest. He keeled over, coughing blood. His allies dragged him back in the retreat towards the tower through North Street.

He gave one final order. Or suggestion. "Pile up the crates... barricade North Street..."

No one countermanded what he said, either because no one refuted the logic, or there were no officers left who thought to take control. Perhaps most thought he WAS in control.

By afternoon, Central Square was firmly in the hands of the Resistance. The fighting died down a little as both sides planned their next move.

And the men in black were down one less man with common sense.

Crackleslap, Randolph Orlando, mafia roleblocker, was lynched!

Once the Resistance had secured Central Square, it was only a matter of time. By the afternoon they had secured the rest of the city.

All that was left was the remaining holdouts in Orchis Tower.

The police slowly moved their armored cars up North Street, using them as a protective shield from incoming fire. They eventually made their way a short distance outside Orchis Tower’s front doors.

Suddenly, the windows above shattered as smoke canisters were lobbed to the plaza below.

In a final, desperate act of futility, men charged out of the tower, firing with whatever guns and ammunition they had left. Most were cut down immediately by the police returning fire. But one man made it around the cars. He aimed his army revolver at a young man.

Lloyd Bannings gasped, staring death right in the face.

*Swing*

The gunman yelped, his hand having been chopped off by the heft of a massive greatsword. He keeled over, and limped back through the smoke towards the tower.

Alex Dudley slowly climbed up the staircase. He had made it to the 14th floor when finally, drained of strength, he could climb no more, and he lied on the staircase.

A voice rang out.

“I will give you a moment to make your peace with the Goddess.”

Dudley turned over, barely able to see a Masked Swordsman atop the stairs to the next floor above him, tachi drawn.

Clarinet, Alex Dudley, mafia tracker, was beheaded.

A few hours later.

Orchis Tower 25th floor conference room.

“The last holdouts at Orchis Tower and the CSPD headquarters have surrendered and are in custody.” said the Mayor, sitting in a chair in the middle of the room.

“And so… this farcical revolution has come to an end.” said the man on the left screen.

“No thanks to you, Regnitz!” cackled the man on the right. “The upstart was an Erebonian noble!”

“On that, it is too early to say Mr. President.” said the Mayor. “We recently discovered the body of ‘another’ Rufus Albarea in Crossbell leads us to suspect that the Fuhrer may have been some sort of imposter.”

President Gramhardt snorted.

The Mayor remembered something. “Oh, Mr. President! Sadly, I must say that the former President of Calvard, Samuel Rocksmith, was found dead in Crossbell. Apparently he had stepped forward to try to mediate between Crossbell and the other nations, but had been cut down by the Fuhrer.”

“Good riddance” bellowed Gramhardt. “I won’t have to see his ugly face again when I run for reelection in a few years.”

Chancellor Regnitz chuckled. “Speaking of, one of the princes was vacationing in Crossbell when the coup began. Can you verify his status?”

The mayor looked solemn. “You mean man who claimed to be Olivier Lenheim? He helped coordinate the Resistance, and died in the final assault. He is a true hero to the people of Crossbell. We will turn his body over to you immediately.”

“Thank you.” Said the Chancellor.

“Well,” said Gramhardt. “Seems like the case is closed. I will call for the Republic military to begin demobilization. Until next time…”

The screen on the right shut off. The screen on the left followed soon after.

Sergei Lou stepped forward.

"I wonder whatever happened to the masked man who beheaded the Fuhrer and the Chief?"

The Mayor closed his eyes.

"We'll never know."

On the West Crossbell Highway, a lone man rode on a motorcycle towards the Erebonian border.

GGs. Town was dumb dumb in hasitly lynching me. You left it with 2 killing power left, though got saved by the remaining power roles I guess.

Also the meta gaming I was talking about. Foxxis character claim - if you do a google search has a massive sword and in the RP there a "masked swordsman" doing the killing, but i didn't want to use that as a method. :/

Game Review

Val - the mod of the game

I was really worried about game balance. At first I was thinking that there should be 3 mafians, 1 traitor, and an 1 SK, but against 9 town I thought it would be too much in scum's favor, so I removed the traitor. But in retrospect, it really could have gone either way. The SK should've been given a power. I think if I do another game I'll just go with Uggor's advice and not give a damn. Just throw fun stuff at everyone. Being powerless sucks.

I also screwed up with Xanjori. He was a bodyguard who couldn’t protect from double taps, so that backfired in that two town died instead of one.

Maybe I should have given fake character names for the scum to claim.

Towards the end of the game, a vest was to be given out that may or may not have been able to block a kill on the same night, but due to inconsistent post order it was unclear if that item would take effect before or after night actions occurred, and there was precedent for both. It didn’t really matter all that much because the game had pretty much been decided by then, but I will remember to keep the order of actions written down if I host another game so this doesn’t happen again. Sorry Foxxie!
