Because most of the salles are digital and not physicall. Which was huuuuuge cost. Cost of shipping the game overall stay the same or even went down. Thats why it is logical for the games to stay in the same price or be lowered.

Please, RDR2 is anomaly and not the norm. Look at Bugsnax. Hades. AC Valhalla. Most games dont cost hundreds of milion dollars.

We have lootboxes not because poor publisher cant make ends meet but because of rampant greed and exploitative nature of big companies.
Then tell me why there are games on PS5 that are being priced at $70? How come they didn't stay at $60? Those are also digital. How come the digital games cost the same as physical games? I am sure AC is still in the tens of millions. Point being, games like that aren't cheap to make. You act like Doom of 1993 is the same to develop as Doom Eternal of 2020.

casinos are taxed for it and are not marketed to developing children, some places dont even permit gambling or casinos to even exist, games are a very different situation
I think the last line is the main thing here. Most people that play F2P games will drop well over $60 during their game time, they are very profitable. Heck my buddy complains about money all the time and how WoW sub is expensive and yet spends a crap ton of money on the GW2 store (which ends up being more than a year sub+).

I'd say because if not, every physical copy sold would be a loss. And since ~50% of sold copies are still physical, that would be no good.
If you price them differently, no shop will put it on their shelfs.

Don't be weak and smoke. Don't be weak and do drugs. This ain't how it works. These gambling mechanics are designed to be appealing, especially to minors. They are made to slowly hook you in, lootbox by lootbox, 2$ by 2$. And then in the end of the month you see a several thousands bill. Yes, some people have weaker self control than others, but saying "just don't gamble lol" won't protect them.

This is the main problem. The parents do not want to parent and want some third party to do it for them.

None of those show that video game devs specifically target addicts, or target addicts only.
None of those say that no one has fun gambling.

I never said "addicts don't have personal problems with loot boxes." Quite the opposite. However, I'm a fan of giving people enough rope to hang themselves with.
I mean, there was no solid proof tobacco companies were targeting kids few decades ago to develop life time addiction, and yet commercials were made to make smoking look "cool".

That isn't why and it isn't nearly as simple as you want it, just being lazy and crying "I DON'T WANT GOVERNMENT TO INTERFERE"

The more they leave Lootboxes alone the worse it will get and government will eventually get involved. Don't be stupid.

nice victim blaming lol, addiction is a mental disorder, many people literaly cant help it,and atleast when it comes to casinos...they are not targeted at developing young minds like with lootboxes....i think the gaming industry is MUCH worse than a casino

i also dont personaly do heroin, does that mean other people arent victims to it?or other extremly addictive drugs?i guess you should just go around and tell everyone just doint be weak bro...because its just THAT easy

    you disgust me

Might as well ignored it, if they don't have the balls/will to inflict actual meaningful pain over it.

It's like much of that reactionary politicking - someone did a booboo and we want to pretend to respond with some meaningless action just for sake of ticking in the "we responded" box.

It should have been 10 times that amount the least. 10 mil, kekw. EA execs probably falling off their chairs laughing as they uncork their champagnes together with their lawyer hit squad.

Thanks. I tried googling it a couple of times but couldn't find it. It's pretty disgusting how some people are ok with others being exploited as long as it isn't them especially when they get a "free" game out of it.

lemme guess, its the womans fault for being raped because she wore something a bit to revealing for your taste?

and yeah, people need help when they are addicted just like with any mental health issue, how delusionaly and moraly bankrupt can you be?

No, but the two are fundamentally different and not at all an equal. Let's flip this around: how about the guy who raped someone because he's a nympho and can't bare not having sex? Or how about the kid diddler who can't resist their urges? People can't be held responsible for their own mental states and shortcomings, right?

Yes or no: there are examples of people who have broken addiction on their own and/or quit things cold-turkey with success. Anyone at all.

You seem to care about what is realistically possible for your average person. I'm not. I'm only concerned with what is actually possible for a human to do and holding people to that higher standard. Just because the average person can't dunk doesn't mean no one can dunk. Just because some shortcomings have higher ramifications than others doesn't mean I suddenly start getting a bleeding heart.

your analogy doesnt work, addiction directly affects your brain chemicaly, you even feel ill and cant function if you dont take it,sexualy assaulting someone is different, also its affecting someone else directly,so again...really really bad analogy

    Oh cool.

How about you go to the grocery store, dish out $100, and take home a mystery box of groceries. So what if there's only about $0.15 worth of kale in there? Have the restraint to ignore your hunger until next week and try again.
