There is that guy people like to quote who asserts that one of the identifiers of fascism is that they simultaneously portray their enemies as incredibly weak and incredibly powerful.

    But I don't know...

You can probably always find shit like that if the group you're talking about is broad enough. Trump was an incompetent buffoon, but at the same time that incompetence was about the only thing preventing him from doing more damage.

I view it more like a Batman Begins situation, but instead of leaving the villain on a train to die, you instead make sure they get caught by the next angry Trump mob.

Last reply to this, was during a 2 am shit... so, am taking another shot at it...

Is Mike Pence a Democrat? Last I checked, Trump’s mob wanted to kill republicans as well... because that wasn’t about America, as you can tell by them replacing one of the US flags... it wasn’t about Blue Lives Matter, because ya’ll killed one... it wasn’t about GOP, ya’ll built a gallows to hang the second GOP in command... Just like the flag that replaced the American, this was all about Trump and making Trump the king of America.

Also, notice how not a single... well... anyone... created excuses for the crazy dude, shooting at a baseball game. Why ya’ll have been using that instance to justify nearly 200 murders by white nationalist, in the last few years alone. To excuse an insurrection that attacked the US, to remake it in Trump’s image. Because everyone recognizes that the baseball game shooter is insane... but, it seems like if he was a Trump supporter, ya’ll would create excuses, blame the media and treat him like a good ol’ boy.

You will never see this sort of loyalty to any democrat. No one tried to make Obama king, no matter how much ya’ll pretended his appeal was fake. Never heard of Clinton being made president for life, but 12 current GOP senators that voted to convict Bill over lying, because Bill Clinton is the Mega Chad that Trump pays to be. But, will vote to let Trump off the hook for an insurrection.

That last part should sting extra hard... GOP impeached Bill, for being the Chad ass hole that you love about Trump. While refusing to impeach Trump, for trying to be the god king ya’ll spend 8 years claiming Obama was going to become.

Edit: Please tell me this wasn’t about fascism, but economic anxiety. I want to know the anxiety felt by someone taking a private jet... or a CEO... members of city government... and obviously, racist group that hate America... that have absolutely had it with democrats not respecting Trump’s personal interest...

That tends to happen when you try to overthrow democracy for a racist sociopath.

Because he didn’t give a shit about helping anyone. I’m pretty sure that if he didn’t know, than someone had to have told him, that executive orders cannot withstand the next administration. That despite it requiring a lot more work, his agenda would be better secured if it moved through congress. Especially in the first two years, where his push back was minimal, if existed at all.

I think a person that is an actual ideologue, would have more issues winning than Trump did. Since Trump’s only goal was to look good...

They worship the confederacy for how long? Despite them attacking the US and the whole slavery thing? If they can handle and even weaponize that scrutiny... I am sure they can afford enough focus groups, to convince you it’s a form of economic anxiety... again...

Yes, McConnell's voting to acquit, so anyone who was still hoping can let it go.

Yeah, if you add to it the fact that Biden has an impeachment filed by MTG, days into his presidency... it might not be completely meaningless, but it has a lot less meaning than intended.

That’s something to keep in mind during this shit... Biden has impeachment paperwork filed against him... as GOP claims this is just a political circus... Biden had impeachment filed within days...

By the GOP Senators? Almost assuredly. You're right about wanting his voters and campaign money, and if they had either spines or ethics they would have left a while ago. Some did.

However, now that the GOP has gone with "We don't have the right, he's not in office" I'm waiting for state and maybe federal charges. Almost all the GOP has gone with "We didn't have the right to impeach" which in turn means "therefore it's a standard criminal matter" and they won't be able to intervene. Schumer/Harris will have an instant shutdown that's not on the GCD.

It's not the best option, but i'll do.

Oh, and by refusing to impeach, the GOP is therefore allowing Trump to run in 2024. I don't think he will -- he's too old, fat, and tired of winning -- but if he did, you, me, and everyone else here not a member of a cult gets to join together for a resounding chorus of the You Had Your Chance song.

Could that have anything to do with the fact that he was trying to have Mike Pence and the members of congress deliberately massacred?

    Yes. As it should be.

"Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito just complained that “you can’t say that marriage is a union between one man and one woman. Now it’s considered bigotry.” This is a standard complaint of the right: the real victim is the racist who has been called a racist, not the victim of his racism, the real oppression is to be impeded in your freedom to oppress. And of course Alito is disingenuous; you can say that stuff against marriage equality (and he did). Then other people can call you a bigot, because they get to have opinions too, but in his scheme such dissent is intolerable, which is fun coming from a member of the party whose devotees wore “fuck your feelings” shirts at its rallies and popularized the term “snowflake.”

Nevertheless, we get this hopelessly naïve version of centrism, of the idea that if we’re nicer to the other side there will be no other side, just one big happy family. This inanity is also applied to the questions of belief and fact and principle, with some muddled cocktail of moral relativism and therapists’ “everyone’s feelings are valid” applied to everything. But the truth is not some compromise halfway between the truth and the lie, the fact and the delusion, the scientists and the propagandists. And the ethical is not halfway between white supremacists and human rights activists, rapists and feminists, synagogue massacrists and Jews, xenophobes and immigrants, delusional transphobes and trans people. Who the hell wants unity with Nazis until and unless they stop being Nazis?"

one of the driving questions is what Trump even gained from all this because fucking up your life and legacy to spite someone, and solely to satisfy yourself, is a sign of sociopathy of the highest magnitude

Maybe, but they should have to do the process anyway. If we don't do a thing at all because we think Republicans will never do the right thing, they will never do the right thing because we have made it that way. "You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take – Wayne Gretzky – Michael Scott” yadda yadda.

Well, it's not like Trump haven't shown those kind of traits from even before he was president.

You mean, like, criminals who steal and kill? People who park sideways across three handicapped spots? People who don't mask in public? Nazis?

You're just going to have to live with the consequences of your actions. Just like all the other Trump supporters. Yes, you are.
