    You are valid

Your reasons for unsubbing are entirely yours. If it stops being worth it, or youre burned out, or its just not fun anymore and you'd rather do something else... its perfectly valid. You dont need to engage with anyone telling you you suck or you cant hack it or youre looking for free handouts. If it no longer feels worth your time or money, because of your goals, your time to invest in the game, the competition, your temperament or whatever else, your reasons are yours and they are completely justifiable based on those reasons.

And if you love the game, love the changes, love that you can quickly get to the content you want to play, and love playing that content and love you can keep playing it, youre also valid.

And by valid, i mean absolutely correct in your decision. This is the hippy thread where we all just stop trying to convince everyone else that theyre wrong.

The whole "still subbed" argument is no longer a valid point. I do not like the game currently, yet I am still subbed.
Subbing is free for me and most long-time wow players because the game time tokens prices are barely the cost of gold we make in a month just logging on.
If I stopped subbing to this pathetic attempt at a game all that happens is the millions of gold I've amassed is wasted.
So I sub, hoping one day Blizz will be bought by a bigger, better funded indie company.

Convert it to blizzard balance and use it for other games?
Seems kinda weird that you feel compelled to stay subbed in hope it gets better... Or you can just save that gold until you feel like the game has gotten better and you can start using it to sub from that point instead of using it now.
You do you, but I feel like you can use that gold more efficiently than you are currently.

So you play our of stubbornness? And then wonder why you don't enjoy it?

sorry, i missed you. If youre still subbed because you have too many tokens but nevertheless hate the game and cant bring yourself to log in, or you log in, and feel trapped by your experience and wish you'd do something else, but sunk cost is overwhelming... you're still valid.

Why do you do this to yourself?^^

If you don't like the game don't stay subbed. You can use the gold for either gametime later on if you feel like it or convert into blizz balance and buy the next expansion or any other game from them.

Edit: Not saying you should quit btw. just seems a bit self-torture-y

you are victim of sunk cost cognitive bias. You should just leave and be happier.

Yes and no, you can unsub but the problem is the blog posts on here blame everyone else but themselves.

And which is where the arguments come from "You cant hack it" "Looking for free handouts" are pretty much 100% relevant arguments when the people creating these blog posts, blame everyone else when in reality, they are simply playing at such a low level, that no one cares.

I am not denying they are having some sort of fun, but stop trying to skip years of experience because you feel entitled to do so, the 99% simply isnt good enough and requires some minimal effort to get better.

You dont want to give it because its a game? Sure, its your choice, but thats why your blog post is answered with "You are simply not good enough, no one cares if you unsub".

If you do leave though, can I have your gold?

100% agree. I used to be part of the vocal "I quit" crowd, but in retrospect, it was just because my hobbies all revolved around WoW. It is a pastime like any other and, like any other, it can be dismissed when it becomes a chore.

I am very critical in my posts if I do not appreciate the direction the game is taking, but the most important thing is to do so with the knowledge that there is more to life than WoW, and if things go bad for too long, it si entirely okay to take a break of months, years, or forever. Your feats of strength, reputations, ilvl and achievements matter as long as you give them worth. If you decide they are not worthy of your time anymore, that is also fine, and nothing prevents them to become relevant to your life again in the future.

Indeed. Retail is no longer worth my time, so I've quit. Maybe I'll check out whatever there is in store come 9.2 (not interested in the slightest in 9.1), but until then I'll be playing some of the many Steam games that have been collecting dust.

thx for explaining me the obvious and clarifying how to master life! espcially descissions, when playing a video game, are the more critical parts of a succesful being in a succesful and fulllfilling life. its great to have ppl like you, helping us all on our way to nirvana. thx a lot!

PS: if you wanna put your great givings to the one that needs them the most, plz also give asmongold a call. it seems that guy struggles a bit in life at the moment and i am sure as hell, he would die for some excellent advices from you!

[insert random fortune cookie slogan here, since i could not quickly find some cool cheapshit hobby philosophy/psychology slogan (like „the journey is the goal“ or anything, but cooler!)]

-Whats more important, the journey or the destination?

    - The friends we made along the way!
None of us really changes over time. We only become more fully what we are.

Sometimes literally, see the Abomination Factory.
But your duty to Azeroth is not yet complete. More is demanded of you... a price the living cannot pay.

I'm pretty sure that the Internet is for porn and pointless bickering whose only goal is to establish an echo chamber in favor of [insert your opinion here] and to crush all dissent against [your position again here]. Being nice or logical simply won't be tolerated!

[Insert typical "modern wow suks and so do you if yu liek it i have been unsubbed for 16 years lolol" or "you just hate modern WoW because you need to git gud scrub, incoherent ramblings about gear welfare and horrible casuals" post here]

The problem comes when everyone and their grandma wants to tell everyone they quit.

This reads as sarcasm. But I dunno... it's close. Could be real.

Same here. I dislike nearly all aspects of SL, that broken balance, anima grind as "endgame" feature for cosmetics, boreghast, pointless maw, bad gearing, and so on. but im still subbed. it might be stupid, but im still in this game for my guild. most of the ppl i know for many years now. but a lot of them unsubbed or just disappeared. on primetime there are 10-15 ppl online, at launch there were 70+ online.
in the 9.3 late season were more ppl online at primetime then now...

tonight the first voluntary hc raid was cancelled due to a lack of members, and mythic raids are struggling too. Normally i sub for 6 month, now i switched to 1 month. and maybe i wont sub for the next montch in april.

Of course these are only my experiences, but my guild, a guild that exists since 2005, suffers hard in sl. :/
