8 dead at Atlanta Massage and Spa shootings

They just held a press conference on the murders. They interviewed the suspect and he claimed he had no racial motivation and that instead he has a sex addiction and he blamed massage parlors as being a source of temptation for that addiction. He was on his way to Florida when he was apprehended and he was planning on doing more killings in Florida, possibly against the porn industry.

Again, this is based on the suspect's words, and he could be full of shit, but it seems that this may be a religious nut type of situation, just a bit of speculation on my part. Lots of people have sex addiction, the only reason I can think of why someone would kill over it is if they hated themselves so much for it and thought they were going to Hell because of it. We do know from his high school classmates that he was extremely religious.

I am not anti-gun, but so many factors of culture lead to crazy and needless death in the US.

Just this past week 15 people were shot and 2 were shot dead at a warehouse party here in Chicago.

Still, authorities said they were investigating whether the deaths were hate crimes amid concerns over a wave of attacks on Asian Americans. Six of the victims were identified as Asian and seven were women.

Officials did not say that Robert Aaron Long, 21, ever went to the parlors where the shootings occurred. They also said he was planning to go to Florida in a plot to attack “some type of porn industry.”

“He made indicators that he has some issues, potentially sexual addiction, and may have frequented some of these places in the past,” said Sheriff Frank Reynolds, of Cherokee County, where one of the targeted businesses was.

He said it was too early to tell if it was racially motivated — “but the indicators right now are it may not be.” He added: “We believe that he frequented these places in the past and maybe have been lashing out.”

Nahhh, since the shootings happened in Georgia, capital punishment is on the menu.
Also, since he attempted to travel to Florida, shouldn't then federal crimes apply as well, where he can obviously also be sentenced to death.

Ah yes an American police department assuring us that something totally wasn't racially motivated while also dropping such gems as “He was fed up, at the end of his rope...yesterday was a really bad day for him and this is what he did".

We should totally take those clowns seriously, though. It's not as if viewing Asian women as targets of sexual temptation is a racial motivation because we live in a culture which dehumanizes Asian service workers and stereotypes Asian women as submissive sexual objects, right?
