I don't see anything about Blizzard layoffs. Only Activision-Blizzard shutting down their publishing offices in the EU.

And Brazil/Latin American operations except for a marketing manager.

Companies lay people off and consolidate offices more and more. There is no need anymore to have 20 offices in 15 countires. You can do all of it from one.
The choice of UK is weird though.

Blizz gets under fire for it for two reasons:

    1. That ridicoulus payout for Kottick... stupid contract. He directly profits from the pandemic in a huge way which no one expected when he got it.
    2. They are a game company. As such they are more in focus of the intermob. If GM lays off a few thousand workers at once no one freaking cares. Blizz lays off a few and it is the most evil thing anyone has ever done. This is just biased uncontrolled cancelculture again.

Also give it two weeks and no one cares again. Also also: No one applauds them when they hire staff... which they do...

People feed easier off the negatives instead of the positives, which you can see on some comments regarding the charity event.

It stays amusing how nobody gives a shit when a random company lays people off but when Blizzard does it THEN it's suddenly the worst thing in the world.

Not that OP or any of the other pretenders really care

Especially when it isn't even Blizzard, but their parent company.

Blizzard's downfall has been going on since at least Wrath. Haven't you heared? The good old days are gone so Blizzard is dead.

5.2 was the last Blizzard update I liked, but even I can't take all this doomsaying seriously.

you haven't noticed the drop in quality in customer service after they gutted that department?

it does seem a bit more public with blizzard though, many other companies you only find out they gutted customer service when you suddenly have to jump through hoops to get in contact.

It's because people are unhappy with Blizzard in general and are looking for any excuse to crap on them and hope it somehow results in a shift in direction for the company by someone important getting replaced etc.

I'd say there are a matric ass ton of people out there who are ex-Blizzard fanboys and are currently unhappy with the company. WoW alone used to be a global sensation.

Blizzard fans care about what's going on with Blizzard. Sony fans care about what's going on with Sony, and so on. The reason why this is newsworthy beyond that is because it goes against our basic understanding of fairness when a company fires almost two hundred people, even though they have record profits and give the CEO a 200 million bonus. It doesn't matter that current state of the world makes these employees redundant, and that the CEO has a special clause in his agreement that just happens to favor him immensely these day, in other words the ugly sides of capitalism shining through brightly.

    When they were against..
Several banks that have done some SUPER shitty stuff, Spirit Airlines, Facebook, Comcast, and AT&T...you know ones that actually fucked up peoples lives..

but oh no THEY RUINED SIM CITY AND GAVE MASS EFFECT 3 A TERRIBLE ENDING!

This isn't the place for this, and this topic is already being discussed elsewhere. Closing.
"We're more of the love, blood, and rhetoric school. Well, we can do you blood and love without the rhetoric, and we can do you blood and rhetoric without the love, and we can do you all three concurrent or consecutive. But we can't give you love and rhetoric without the blood. Blood is compulsory. They're all blood, you see." ― Tom Stoppard, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead
