Yup, there was a significant change in his physique some years ago and it was evident that he started to put in insane amount of time into that. He and Ronaldo have insane discipline when it comes to training. Lewa's wife is some kind of nutrition specialist so that is quite the combo aswell + apparently he eats his dessert first during meals!
On another note: put on the Arsenal game and 2-0 down, amazing. And now 3-0.
And then they pulled it back to draw 3-3. Reminds me of a certain United - Chelsea game ;D
Lewandowski isnt skilled when hes one of the best finishers in the modern game?
Dis thread mang comes up with some gems.
Shame about utd crashing out of the FA cup. Spineless. Dis-re-pect-tang the histo-rey of the cup
Of course he is skilled, but the work/talent ratio is quite high for Lewandowski, which is evident by looking at his career. He was never a big talent and he started to reach his heighest points at a late stage of his career. To be a professional football player you can't really rely on only talent or hard work, and there are many cases where big talents haven't been arsed to put in the required work and then there are the players that work their asses off but never really makes it to the top.
I feel like Lewandowski deserves more praise. The average guy who worked hard to become one of the best.
The average person doesn't magically grow muscle twitch fibers no matter how hard you train. The dude is straight jacked with an 8 pack. But sure average
Reminds me of Frank a bit.
Not the most talented, but he's squeezed every bit of potential out of himself through sheer determination and will.
And being world class requires having genetic advantages as well as discipline/work ethic. The competition is so high now you need both and cant get away with just having one or the other. I mean you might be able to make it to the premier league and do well like say a Maguire or Troy Deeney type player. But I still wouldnt call them "average". Hand-eye co-ordination, cardiovascular systems. Theres so much that goes into being an athlete the idea of calling them average is silly.
its the same when people say Ronaldo isnt skilled he just works hard. Meanwhile hes capable of doing Bicycle kicks and lighting quick step overs. That isnt JUST training.
I dont even know why its a discussion really I thought this stuff was obvious.
There are athletes that without the extrem training, nutrition etc would be "average". Then there are of course also those who are blessed with demigod genetics. I guess one can argue that Lewa has non-average genetics but talent wise he could very well be considered average. Then again, it is not impossible to get a physique like him without super genetics, surely it helps tho (and he has obviously not the worst genetics either).
For me its more about the finishing. When you see the angles of shots hes capable of putting away with milisecond reaction time and reaction to the keepers movements and finding the perfect angle while also sprinting to the ball/fighting off a defender and being aware of your center of gravity to put power into the shot while moving at high speeds.
You just cant train that to be best in the world. You can drastically improve it sure. But yea. some of those angles top strikers put away is mental sometimes damn near 180 degrees while they or the ball is moving.
If finishing was a skill you could just train, then everyone would be strikers/wingers because they score goals and win games, so are worth the most.

Some reports coming out that Ole will be offered a new contract. All the rival fans are celebrating.
I'm not going to lie, I like Ole and want to see him do well as United's manager. So I wouldn't be against him getting a new contract. I mean, he has made some weird tactical and substitute decisions, but I think that could probably be said about most if not all managers.
He’s been at United less than 2 years. He’s taken them from being a club in free fall under Mourinho to something steady but unspectacular. In short, he’s doing his job, having come with virtually zero top club experience. As much as he behaves quite entitled and thinks mentioning Ferguson is some get-out-of-jail-free care, he’s been the tonic the team needed. Every manager has their bad days and idiosyncrasies. It’s fine. He’s getting along okay.

that united team can beat anyone on their day, they just arent nuclear yet (like city) and maybe lack a bit of character at times but ole has taken them in the right direction. If they can get consistency into their games the league is winnable under him imo.
You can look at it in different ways. I would agree he's done an okay job but that's not very exciting. If we don't win EL this season we are standing still as a club considering we got 'top4' last season, and this season was the season to build on top of that. But with saying all of this, I think I'd be more positive if we played enjoyable football. The fact we play such uninspiring football (slightly better than under Mourinho and LVG but not by much) just makes the games boring to watch and when you neither have the results in terms of titles or playing well then it feels a bit frustrating.
